Whoops, seems like my memory failed me on Chun. For some reason, I lumped her in with Magneto as a last-minute reveal.
Magneto was also revealed way in advance lol
The last reveals were Akuma, Hsien Ko and Sentinel
Combofiend definitely knows what he's doing, but my concern is how much Capcom will listen to him. I know S-kill had issues at Capcom because the development team didn't necessarily listen to his input on some things.
I've also had similar issues myself when I have more intimate contact with dev teams and they refuse to listen to the advice of someone that may know more than them or at least be able to see something from the outside that they're missing since they're so close to the game. I can think of 3 games off the top of my head where I had direct access to the devs, they ignore my concerns and the game was made worse because of it.
So let's see how much they actually listen to Combofiend. If he is indeed battle director then he should have enough influence, but I don't think we know his exact position for this game.

Ah, thought they had the least impact on the framerate. My bad
so it the real, major sticking point for people the loss of assists? I feel that's the only true element from this series getting dropped, and we are getting the stones back in favor (I don't think MSH had assists).
I get being skeptical, but this series has seen so many changes, I don't get all the panic coming yet. Skepticism is deserved, but outright denouncement seems a bit jumpy at this point
I'm sure X has a lot more to show. You're not going to get a full grasp of the character just like that. The gameplay video looks like it was quickly put together.

X does not have any face animations or VA ready for him in the current build
If th game is coming out 2017. Seems like they pushed him to the front for the reveal despite probably not as far along as others.
Wonder if they will look like their movie counterparts or not...I hope Captain America and The Winter Soldier are shown off on ESPN
Curious about this as well.Wonder if they will look like their movie counterparts or not...
Wonder if they will look like their movie counterparts or not...
That's because X was one of the most requested characters in Marvel 3.
Iron Man isn't wearing his movie armor, so probably not.Wonder if they will look like their movie counterparts or not...
that the team reps during the interview said that sfxt style tagging is more representative of teamwork and more complex than assists (and effectively 3v3) is like, fucking bonkers given how much they add to the game in every single way at every level
Yeah, I'd consider X, Phoenix Wright, Strider Hiryu, Frank West, and Vergil the five most requested Capcom characters for Ultimate, and all but one of them made it in. It made a ton of sense to reveal X first for Infinite. He was outright the most wanted character for that game and its expansion. The only other phenom level character (Phoenix Wright) got in ASAP with Ultimate's release.
oooooh god damn, combo has spoken:
"Marvel 3 fans who played deep into the game without any problems might have trouble understanding this, but Marvel 3 was just too difficult."
"If we want new people from this generation of gamers to come in, then we need it accessible, simple, and playable by anyone. You can't let yourself get preoccupied with nothing but gameplay and balance details.
"That's where the core of the MvC concept lies, not on doggedly keeping the game the way it was before," he concluded.
Yeah, this is straight bullshit. 3v3 is exciting as hell. If we wanted 2v2 we would have stuck with the other lame ass games.
I feel like making it visually appealing would do the trick of bringing in new players, kinda like what mkx did.

That Playstation interview was simultaneously the most comforting and worrying thing ever.
They make some valid points about how assists don't really make it any more or less of a team game if they're there, but it's in the same breath as a lot of "you don't need no fangled arcade sticks or 3 characters, waaaaaaay too complicated!"
These were the top 15 Capcom characters voted for on the Capcom Unity poll before UMvC was announced:
1. Strider 2094
2. Mega Man X - 2061
3. Phoenix Wright - 1734
4. Frank West - 1311
5. Gene - 1257
6. Classic Megaman - 950
7. Vergil - 919
8. Captain Commando - 784
9. Bison - 704
10. Jin Saotome - 677
11. Jon Talbain - 617
12. Bass.Exe - 606
13. Ken - 469
14. Leon Kennedy - 419
15. Cammy - 416
MSH was 2v2?Mvc xvsf msh TVC msfvsf
You have strange definitions of lame ass games.
Well the only leak that pointed towards 2v2 did also mention a monster hunter dragon...ComboFiend now one of Them.
Hypothetical way for this game to be saved for me:
1) 2v2, so no assists. Sucks, but okay.
2) Giants are back.
3) MFing Rathalos is in the game.
4) Hyper armor dragon attacks.
5) Mow down scrubs all day until they quit the game.
6) Game redeemed.
MvC2 and 3 are fucking nightmares for casual players trying to learn. In the heyday of SF4 and Marvel 3, my friends would always be more interested in learning Marvel after seeing me play - but I would always tell them to play Street Fighter first.
The Marvel license is exponentially bigger now than it was 5-6 years ago. They have a much bigger chance at capturing casuals now. This is the time to simplify a bit.

I'd love it if we got Gene and Captain Commando in this one.
Yup. Only thing I have to look forward to now. I won't even pretend Nina has a chance, or that they can do Dormammu justice in this game.Well the only leak that pointed towards 2v2 did also mention a monster hunter dragon...
I'm trying to find it. It was an SRK post about a Malaysian animator that claimed MvC4 would be 2v2, +1 assist, and have a Monster Hunter dragon in it.Can you post that link?
Just guessing 2v2 is enough for it to be believable. Before that, no one would have thought this would be the case. It makes sense that they tried 2v2 +assist, then cut the assist because it was too hard for "casuals" to understand. It also said "+1 assist", so I'd take it with a grain of salt.
Hopefully they can sort out Strider for the starting roster
I need URBURSRSR
Strider is a lock as well
Bass.EXE would be a sick addition. However, I would prefer Zero and Sigma get the priority Mega Man status.
Man this game is going to be even easier than Marvel 3? SMH
It really is going to be SFxT 2.0
After the shitstorm that happened with MVC3 not having any sort of Mega Man as a playable character, it's pretty obvious why X was literally the first character shown off.
