Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

Because he's a fun character from the best 3d brawler ever made?

I second this. Game was incredible. One stick let you dodge left right duck or backflip away making up close slugfests with split second dodging an actual possible thing. Plus the slowing of time to select not one but one out of over a dozen supers instead of having to memorize inputs in a 3d fighter was a brilliant way to make super moves simple doable, and not something that required frequent rememberizing of moves. All that PLUS his entire moveset could be customized by mapping any newly learned moves to any buttons old move slot.

Game was golden. It was fast, silly, over the top , and let you play the character how you wanted him to play. A moveset based on Gene would have dozens of things to choose from. He'd be DMC levels of moves.

Clearly this should be an all Marvel game. :0

I've been one of the ones saying that I would have been just as fine with a "Marvel Super Heroes 2" from the jump. There's just so much potential on the Marvel side, plus so many more I would love to see in a game like this (Cosmic-level, especially), that I honestly would prefer that.

A marvel only or capcom only fighter would be cool and enable a lot of obscure characters on each side to finally get their fighting game debut, but neither game would have the mass appeal that a crossover does.

I feel like the game would have more publicity as Marvel Super Heroes 2, but MvC as a franchise is just too popular with the fans. Either way, I'm glad that they went with MvC.

Could someone explain to me why people want Gene so much

Awesome character with a Fist of the North Star inspired design and a movelist that is a martial arts movie fan's wet dream (Kung Fu, Shaolin, Jeet Kune Do, Drunken Boxing etc., he has it all covered.)

Yah that too, better give him a bunch of his drunken movesets (He'd probably make a good style switching like character to swap out movesets).

Based on what?

Them not knowing how many times you can switch in and out mid-combo.

Edit:
I don't think it's a mechanics issue that would delay it, probably don't want a SFV launch repeat especially with Disney..

What do you mean? I understand how poor the SFV launch was but the complete lack of info is odd. I know they can go with a media blitz closer to launch if they wanted but Capcom has never done that for its fighters, it's usually consistent info, reveals, or gameplay showcases from announcement to launch.

Marvel would

In the console gaming space , the Capcom characters definitely give just as much as marvel. Especially in the fighting game genre.

Marvel is an infinitely bigger brand , but when it comes to the target audience of people paying 60$ for a Fighting game. Capcom,SF,RE brand holds just as much value.

I feel like the info train might start back up at PAX East on March 10 (which is also the first day of Final Round). That's a few days after the physical release of UMvC3 on March 7.

Marvel would

Why? Casual fans are gonna get who they care about regardless and then you add Capcom characters and it appeals to even more. I don't see how a Marvel only fighter would have more appeal than a crossover title.

Who knows, I just haven't seen a capcom fighter with this much of a drought. It's concerning.

After SFV was revealed it, Capcom was radio silent for a few months until the Nash/new updated graphics reveal that March.

The game was still showcased though: The Challenge Daigo event in December, The Taipai Game Show exhibitions in January, then the Charlie reveal in late February. There were ways to see the game in action before the next reveal. Plus it launched with less characters, they more or less knew the mechanics and how they worked, it launched without a story mode and arcade mode, and it still didn't launch until Feb 2016.

Speaking of alternate characters. I always thought MKX's variations would be perfect for a superhero fighter. You give each version of the character a unique skin with unique special moves or properties.
I was honestly surprised and slightly disappointed that Injustice 2 didn't have that.

I'm not a fan of the variations because it's so much extra work for each character. You're almost guaranteed a smaller roster.

Kamala is 100% in this game

I am %100 sure Miles isn't in the game. Betting my Account + 5$ on this..
Like no way. Agent Venom would be in before him(which he has 0 chance cause OG Venom is best .)

i wonder why you're so adamant a half black half hispanic character isn't in the game

🤔🤔🤔

can we get a mod to witness this bet? i'll put up $10 to charity, he puts up $5 to charity and a permaban on his account

Congrats! Your fake leak got it's own thread at GameFAQs.

https://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/202465-marvel-vs-capcom-infinite/75000859

Lol, I kinda feel bad. They can't see the email tags.

Though I did sprinkle in several glaring red flags (which a few of them caught)...

No Captain America who was announced.
Naming some of the characters by their Japanese names, and then tossing Phoenix Wright and Akuma* in there.
And the fact that it's a pretty lame and boring roster overall.

Edit:

I'd be one of the saltiest member in this thread if the Capcom side was as uninspired as this one.

I'd rather see Miguel over Miles, Jessica Drew/Julia Carpenter
(with a Mayday Parker alternate costume like in MUA1. Would be fun for her to be her own character with that magnetism power but its not enough to make her unique)
over both, and pretty much any main Spider-man villain not named Vulture or Chameleon over a second Spider. Just my opinion.

From the GFaqs "leak" its pretty suspect that he'd know PLANNED DLC, before he would know the full roster, right? Especially f4 characters before things like Thor and Hulk.

Still I'd love for Super Skrull
to return opposite Ronan so we could have a Kree and a Skrull, plus add Nova so we could have the Annihilation team
. Silver Surfer would just be icing.

Plus Songbird, Ock and Venom and I'm pretty excited.

but I don't believe its legitimate

If this is happening I'll put in $10 as well, he can choose the charity.

I'm starting to feel like this game will not make this year. They seem like they don't even have the mechanics fleshed out yet.

most of us have been feeling that way since the announcement. Its been widely assumed it would slip to Q1 2018 from the start, especially with how early the game looked back then and from their conversations :p

They released Street Fighter 5 in Feb 2016, I don't think there's anyway they're delaying this game. Capcom doesn't learn from mistakes that quickly.

Luckily Capcom aren't developing this alone and have Marvel looking over their shoulder.

Luckily Capcom wasn't developing SFV alone and had Sony looking over their shoulder.

In all seriousness you actually might be on to something. Capcom is capable of making great games but they are also capable of making really dumb decisions. If they have issues with time I am hoping thier partnership with Marvel is enough to get them to make the right decision. If it's not I hope Marvel strong arms them to to release an incomplete game.

Hello God,
Answer my prayers.
Limit DS reps to two only.
Morrigan and Jediah/Jon.

Please answer my prayers.

Marvel's new MO with games now is that they have to be good. I'm certain they will try to ensure that Capcom isn't capcoming this.
