Ya know I'd almost be a bit disappointed if the final roster, when it's all said and done, was around 60. I know it's unrealistic, but if Capcom plans on supporting this game for several years give me 80+, clones and all.

I think Venom has a good chance since hes got a movie coming out. On the Capcom side, Ryu from Breath of Fire(Kaiser Dragon lvl 3 hype) and I think Oro would fit pretty well

I feel like the thing people might be overlooking here is that Sony's planned Venom movie reportedly has no ties to the MCU.
You know....like the X-Men and Fantastic Four films. And look where those characters are at now.

She needs to be DRASTICALLY RE-TOOLED for this game though. I need lightning strikes a la Zero Raikosen ALL over my screen, less startup on typhoon, and something else to replace "Lightning strike".

but seriously, i LOVE Storm. Ive loved her since i was a kid.
I think i would just speed Storm up in general and add more hitstun to her normals. Her her damage and combo potential struggled because of this.
Her normals/buttons are slow to come out, her hitboxes are wonky making her combos finicky. She has good normals IMO they are just slow.
Typhoon should go to the top of the screen. ie Dormammu
Lightning Spheres are slow to come out and H should track, ie Phoenix
Getting into flight mode should take less frames, (not Morrigan fast-that's unique to her) but at least equal to Trish and Mags.
whirlwind of different strengths have different startups or fast start up on all and lower the durability of the move ( a H whirlwind can stop a fully charged buster , Vitiful Joes red charged star and CVipers ex knuckle) so the move is really good already , i just think she should have a faster option for less durability?
Her whirlwind came out too slow, so she couldn't zone with it.

Not really a fair comparison, it's more like taking one rando reddit user's post over the actual official announcements
Remember, the 2017 pass will be entirely composed of new characters. So Wolverine and Cyclops wouldn't be part of it. Even if you want to be generous and assume that "all new" just means compared to MvC3, Wolverine wouldn't count.
And I can basically promise you Capcom isn't going to throw Wolverine and Cyclops in pre-release marketing if they're not in the base game or dlc for this year. They'll be revealing characters in the regular roster, and we'll be lucky to know any more of the 2017 Pass characters (aside from Sigma) until around release.

Thing is I could care less about the current versions of the Xmen...I'm still pining away for the 90's/Fox Animated series versions from MVC2...since that isn't happening I say just go batshit crazy with deep cuts on the Marvel and Capcom side...I will miss sentinel though but hopefully they can work out something for DLC.
I'd rather have no Rival Schools rep than have just Batsu. I think I'd rather just have a Hideo alt for Ryu.

Shuma-Gorath is my favorite Marvel-side MvC character and I only knew where he originated from or what he was supposed to be ~10 years after first playing him.
And even when it comes to MCU characters I'd rather see future ones. Rocket Raccoon and Dr. Strange were pretty cool characters I never heard of before UMvC3, and I was disappointed when Nova wasn't in GotG.

Nobody claimed that the MCU should comprise the entirety of the game's roster, but I do take issue with people complaining that the MCU might be used as a guideline for content. Because, yeah, most of these people are pretending that the MCU ISN'T an amazing cross-section of the most important, popular, and meaningful characters Marvel has available to them. I've seen too many people complain over the life of this thread about the idea that Ultron, Black Panther, Ant Man, Loki, Vision etc might get in "just because of the MCU". But the MCU didn't pick heroes and villains arbitrarily, most of these characters are there BECAUSE they're the ones that have endured and remained popular through decades of comics.
Also, not to put too fine a point on it, but if you're a big fan of Shuma Gorath, you're basically a big fan of an original character. His personality and moves are almost entirely made up out of thin air. There's a reason it took almost 10 years for you to learn anything about him, because he's almost a non-entity in the comics. And that's fine! You're allowed to like the vs series Shuma Gorath! But at least understand why a long time comic reader might be more interested in seeing Vision get in than Shuma Gorath returning.
That's what I mean. You're allowed to like whatever you like, and there's sure as shit nothing special about being a long-time comic reader. But long-time comic readers ARE in a better place to say what constitutes a good representation of the source material. The best real complaint anyone can have about focusing mostly (but not solely) on the MCU is that it excludes X-Men and F4 characters, which I will wholly agree with is not a restriction that makes sense outside of film where there are actual licensing issues.

The data doesn't really support this. It was a mid level title selling roughly the same as books like Captain America and Hulk.
My guess is they have license to use whoever they want (which we know already, but still) yet Wolvie/Cyke/Storm will accompany Sigma/Apollo Justice/
in the 2017 Character Pass.
Though I think they serve to gain way more putting at least one X-Men character (should be Wolverine) in the base roster because Capcom needs all the goodwill and strong launches to build off of they can get.

I could see Wolverine, and maybe Deadpool if they allow two. In the Base Roster.
The 2017 pass is described as containing "all-new" characters, and SneakersSO says that it doesn't contain any X-Men.
The 2017 Character Pass has nothing but newcomers, & SneakersSO already heard that we won't get any Fox guys until 2018.
Remember, the game was likely in development for 2 years, and things between Marvel & Fox didn't improve until recently.
I'd rather see Faiza Hussein, aka Excalibur.

Until the day where the full roster is known, I'll still hold the belief that we'll get at least 1 or 2 X-Men reps. While I love the X-Men, personally, I can wait. I'm a fan of MVC in general, so I always enjoy new characters.
What I'm worried about is those who'll take a look at the game, see no X-Men, and decide to skip the game altogether. That could easily be a significant amount of people. The sales are going to be really important for this game and Capcom can't have another blunder on their hands. I know the lack of X-Men isn't their choice, but most people don't care about who's at fault.

That's inaccurate, I believe.
Fox always had TV rights, I believe. But the terms of the deal necessitated they talk to Marvel about what they wanted to do first. Something along those lines.
But I remember over on OT side there being this big deal about how Marvel & Fox needed to have a sit down and rights negotiation over the TV side of things and it came out, before the Legion news first got announced, that Fox never not had TV rights to X-Men and mutants. They always had em. They just... didn't use em for whatever reason.

Yeah, I could have sworn the Fox had the X-Men TV rights. I mean, they did do that Generation X TV Movie/Pilot in the 90s.
