Gene is an OP weeaboo character too.
Asura fits the roster very well, almost perfectly. He ticks the right boxes too in addition to being a character you can design as a grappler which this series usually has very few good ones.
I am always in the Gene camp but Asura makes logical sense to include as a newcomer.

Street Fighter may have crossed over with Asura, but Asura's no Street Fighter rep.
Rocket and Groot are in the same slot, but we don't know if they fight together or if Groot is just there for supers.

Since we're all talking about stillborn games that should get reps, we might as well throw the protagonist of Remember Me into the mix, right?
Also, pessimistic as always, I think you guys are reading way too far into the cover thing. Call me crazy, but I don't think announcing a list of covers for a cross-promotion will subvert proper character announcements that easily, especially when you end up ascribing reps to multiple titles from an associated character anyways. Plus, one of those Spider-Man covers could just end up being Spencer swinging, not necessarily Doc Ock/Venom. It is a mash-up, after all.

I'm in same position even I still think some comic books actually hinted certain characters like Ms. Marvel, Black Panther, Star-Lord, Thanos, Spider-Man, and Dr. Strange.
One upside of 2v2 is that team names will be a lot easier to come up. Someone either in this thread or the AoS thread called Quake/Ghost Rider "Quake and Bake," which I thought was neat.

What makes you hesitant about Ms. Marvel? You share BassForever's opinion of the base roster only having MCU characters on the Marvel side?
That said, I do expect everyone that IntelliHeath mentioned to be playable.

Don't really know much about Ms.Marvel, but it seems she's quite popular and is a good character.
If indeed Marvel is trying to push her, she would be an expected addition to the roster. It would serve to cover some Inhumans representation too.

Like Asura & Black Panther, Ms. Marvel pretty much ticks all of the boxes for a great MvC character.
- She's grown in popularity since MvC3
- She has a die-hard fanbase
- Marvel wants to promote her
- Would have an interesting moveset & wouldn't even have to be a Super-Skrull replacement
I'd prefer if he was a single piece of DLC I could just skip altogether. But as long as he's not holding characters I actually want hostage, like the MKX guest character or Injustice 2 MK character DLC, then he can be whatever.

Yeah, I would be surprised if she doesn't make the base roster or the first DLC pack.
I'd be legitimately surprised if Asura's not in the base roster. He's too obvious of an inclusion to skip.
Same for Ms. Marvel.

Champions worth reading? I dropped Marvel comics (no time at the time) right before the first issue came out. However, I enjoy Ms. Marvel, Miles, and Viv (I really liked The Visions); and I also like the idea of them all being on the same team run by Kamala.

With your logic, it actually is a good reason why we should have Asura in the roster so you don't have to buy him via DLC since he would be included in the base roster by default!
