Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

My only fear is that his inclusion could mean gene is excluded as character design wise gene is pretty vanilla in comparison.

That's where you're wrong.

He has literally a list of attacks that could be implemented as normals, plus the God Reel for specials and/or supers, and the God Hand unleash for an install. He was built for the mechanics of MvC better than most characters that exist.

Asura, on the other hand, exemplifies the over-the-top feeling of MvC, while still having things that could be adapted easily, but not near as much.

Asura was tailor made for a vs game you should probably get ready to get sick of seeing him as there is a very good chance he shows up in this game. Cyber connect 2 wants him in the game and so do fans. Hell cyber connect talked about wanting him in umvc3. They have already hinted at a 6 armed character and dock ock has 2 arms and 4 tentacles. My only fear is that his inclusion could mean gene is excluded as character design wise gene is pretty vanilla in comparison.
Well my issue is that as God Hand fades out of the conciousness, Gene looks more like a regular guy because not as many people remember God Hand or have played it at this point. While when people who don't know Asura look him up, they are like "woah this dude is OP, them arms he looks sick, punching a huge god? Yup that's a super hero."

IN fact why didn't we get a PC port of God Hand :(... Did Okami ever get a PC port or Viewitful JOe?

It's not like Capcom's made any worthwhile IPs in the last few years anyway. We'll probably see some nostalgia picks from MvC2 as well.

Captain Commando would be great, Capcom's 80s mascot needs to come back.

Jin I would really look forward to though. I just want to see how they could implement Blodia into his moveset in a "modern" game.

They could always put Rash from Armored Warriors in with a smaller Blodia to make that a Giant character though they're probably not going to bring back giants.

Its actually kind of striking how little Blodia's moveset in Cyberbots is carried over to Jin in MvC.

I never played TvC but giants sounds horrible in general... Pls no Capcom..
Yeah, especially the fact that they were unflinching upon hit, making them uncomboable...just terrible. I'd like to see PTX-40A return though, but not as a "giant", I should be able to select a second character on the team.

Edit: Also, besides giants, TvC is flippin' amazing. They need to make a port for current consoles.

LOL. Never played it. Judges anyway. Game is actually incredible. You should give it a play sometime and find out what its really like. A ton of stuff from Marvel was pretty much a mishmash of ideas started in TVC movesets. Hell Vergil was like a blend of Tekkaman Blade and Karas. A lot of cast though have never been reproduced like its version of Roll, Yatterman-1 or Yatterman-2, or Hurricane Polymar. Just a TON of fantastic movesets and playstyles to experience in that game. My favorite pressure is still Hurricane Polymar's high low into left right command roll+assist setups orthe low slide into DP that lets you tech into stuff at the height of its jump from Ippatsuman.
Why is Nova in the avengers? Isn't he stronger than the entire team many times over?
Who, Kid Nova on the All-New All-Different Avengers? They were trying to bring in some of the younger heroes into the Avengers at the time, & Sam Alexander needed a push since nothing else worked. Obviously now they're starting to dial back on their Sam push, but that's what was happening at the time.

If you're talking about Richard Rider, he was on the Secret Avengers for a while.

I was glad enough that Captain Commando was in Project X Zone 2.

I like TVC, but giant characters were a terrible, terrible idea.

If you're going to design a game around 2v2 assist/tag-in mechanics, then design every character in the roster around it. Don't put in stupid special snowflakes that take the rules of the game and throw them out the window, unless they're like goofy unlockable boss characters or something.

It's like if Smash Bros. had Ryu feature a traditional health bar instead of the typical percentage meter literally every other playable character is based around. It'd be dumb as fuck.

"Sam Alexander is a fifteen-year-old living in Carefree, Arizona with his father, mother, and little sister. His father is a drunk who often talks about his supposed life as a Nova Centurion, and shirks his duties as janitor at his son's school. Sam's mother is a Latina homemaker. When Sam comes home from school to find his father missing, Sam accidentally injures himself and wakes up in a hospital. There, Rocket Raccoon and Gamora reveal Sam's father really was in the Nova Corps."

Yeah, his best run was when Richard Rider became his mentor, but that run was cut down too soon.

If there's one thing I'm hoping for in Infinite's Story Mode, it's the opportunity to choose between various characters to fight battles rather than there being characters automatically designated. I have a good feeling we'll be able to.

As long as they kept his 25% berserker mode. I think that, coupled with stones would be crazy.

No lol

If we get a Rival Schools rep I really want it to be Shoma btw, I think he'd work really well.

Yeah, you can have more than one stretchy character and still have them play differently.

I second this. It's so obvious that Ms. Marvel wouldn't be like Super Skrull but I really hope that she is going to be very interesting character in the game since she's a geek. I hope that she would make a lot of interesting dialogues toward to characters.

I really think that we may get both Asura and Gene on Infinite, one in the base roster and the other in the first DLC pack.

Asura in Base
Gene in via DLC

I'm totally okay with that.

So, nothing about Edge's info on the game as of now?

Also, does anyone know if the CR will be up on Amazon or is it only available on GS and BB? (I would ask on twitter but I don't have one)

As long as either Asura or Gene make it in, I'm golden.

Yep. Kamala's interactions would be glorious.

No one has been able to find any info about Infinite from Edge.

With that, I'm going to assume the information wasn't anything interesting. Or people with the magazine just didn't feel like checking.

Given the archaic nature of gaming magazines, it's probably just a small blurb talking about the stuff that was revealed a month ago, as though the Internet doesn't exist.

don't they get scoops some times purely due to the lead times tho?

also, lots of news breaks in JP mags even today, but then again they're weekly publications and not monthly
