Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

wow,where is STORM!!!!!!!

Man, I cannot stand those MvCi portraits. Why is this game so ugly?
At least Captain Marvel is nice to look at.

I like how "Infinite" is missing from the title in that image. It's clear they used the wrong title from the beginning. Should have named it "Marvel vs. Capcom: Limited."

Are these the actual portraits? Why do they look so terrible?
Picking good portraits should be one of the easier ways to make a game not look like it's a cheap product. They are on the screen all the time..

Chris Redfield, Ryu, Chun-Li, Strider, Sigma (kind of), Mega Man and Morrigan from the Capcpom side are the in-game portraits we've seen.

Captain Marvel, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, Hawkeye and Ultron from the Mahvel side are the in-game portraits we've seen.

Rest are either taken from UMvC3 or from comics/movies.

Between veterans, and popular characters like Ms. Marvel and Loki, I'm worried it's gonna be a long time until we see lesser known characters.

Just going by the 6 DLC characters in 3 months, 24 in 2018 would be nice but I don't think that's what going to happen, maybe 16 at most?

SneakersSO & I just finished recording for VesperArcade's MvCI podcast. But just warning you guys now, it's a bit of a long one. As such, I wouldn't expect it to hit YouTube for a while.
I'll check it, just let us know when is up.

Lol thanks for who made that terrible roster portraits with old games portaits combined. Not even different from Capcom's approach to game itself

I think this is the first time in my life roster choices might actually completely turn me off from a game

Bravo, Capcom.
Yep, I feel the same.
One of the main appeals of crossover games, specially the MvC series, is the roster.

Even with the FOX ban they should have made better choices in both the Marvel and Capcom side...

I don't even mind specific roster choices, but when you just mostly reheat characters I don't like playing from the previous game and none of the newcomers sound exciting its really hard to give a shit.

I'm not paying 60 bucks to just play Spencer or Morrigan again.

I was originally gonna get the base game + 2017 pass during Black Friday.

Now I'm gonna get the base game + 2017 pass during Black Friday
2018
.

That's another way to view it. You are right, I'm excited for three newcomers but on the other hand, seeing the rest of the cast and the total number of characters, among other thins, makes me somewhat angry.

That leak really killed the hype for a lot of people.

Even though I'm still interested in seeing the game in motion, I currently feel nothing. And I hate feeling that way about a MVC game.
It would be awesome to see the E3 trailer and see at least one character not mentioned in the leak, just to regain the hype...

I knew the roster would disappoint me but not this much.
Not a single character I'm particularly excited about.

Weird because in the old days of the VS games I thought Capcom made some really odd roster choices.
Like, only ten on the original MSH roster and you're picking obscure weirdos like Blackheart and Shuma over more known villains or the Fantastic Four?
And then again for MSH vs SF, and Omega Red, over Doom, Magneto, Juggs etc?
Only two new Marvel characters in MvC2 and you pick Marrow?!

But then in 3 I feel they got the balance of heavy hitters and obscure characters right.
I was so excited about MODOK, one of my favourite Marvel characters and someone I'd never expected to see in a fighting game.

But now they've gone with the blandest roster imaginable.
Fucking Hawkeye in his boring modern costume, who asked for that?
Where's the oddball obscure characters Capcom?
I know it's probably Marvel forcing their hand with the line up but I feel like they haven't fought for the weirdos like they usually would.

There's literally no one fighting for this game at all. The only ones who seem irate are fans. Most Marvel players don't even seem to care about this.

It just seems like there's absolutely no love put into these games anymore. They just come out and are expected to sell based on the name alone.

I miss Seth Killian. You'd think Combo's presence would make a difference, but so far, it hasn't meant anything. Seth really cared and it showed.

I do not know what world Capcom lives in, but they better get it together.

I'm at work and can't watch videos. Any new information at all? Or more "please be excited"?

Just PR stuff. They're excited to see everyone get their hands on the game and they worked to make it as fun as possible. Stuff like that.

I wonder how many units the game will sell if this is indeed the final base roster. The main selling point are the characters even if the mechanics are great (maybe I'm wrong though lol)

One thing's for certain, this game selling 2 million seems like a long-shot with that roster.

The producer said he spent time watching Youtube videos and browsing forums to see what characters people wanted.

Aside from X and Jedah, there's no fan favorites on this roster at all. That leads me to believe his research was specifically for DLC purposes only.

Just came across this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaPNfuSzh58

Not sure if it's been posted yet or not. They had a playable build in Dubai.

Combofiend has been repeatedly saying "what until you guys play the game and feel the hype". Being that he's new game development I expect he's drinking too much of the Koolaid and is unable to see the faults in the game. Others developers like Bungie talk a lot about not falling into that trap but they do anyway. (Especially Bungie, Destiny 2 is nowhere near as compelling or interesting as they hyped it up to be.) I wouldn't take anything Combofiend says too seriously.

I agree and thats what i think is gonna happen as well. Were already getting 6 dlc characters in the span of 3 months. Thats the same amount that SFV got in a entire year.

If we can get 12-14 characters a year for the next 2 years i actually won't be upset at that. It also keeps the game fresh. It's one of the main reasons Overwatch is my most played game right now because almost every month their is something new.

I just don't think it's realistic to expect the launch roster to be 28, have 34 characters by the end of the year and then by some miracle be close to 50 by the end of 2018.

I think the only reason we are getting 6 characters in 3 months is that theory that they were originally supposed to be in the launch roster until the games release date was pushed up so they were basically finished or at least close to it. Maybe this is just the disappointment speaking but I'd be shocked if we got a pair of characters every other month or one new character every month. I think Capcom has proven they cant keep to that kinda schedule.

I think getting 6 this year and expecting 6 next year is a lot more realistic

I am expecting harsh criticism at the decision not to include Kamala Khan at launch.

This game would be better if it was delayed. If it came out in February, it would give them an extra 4 months. Include the 6 DLC characters in this game as the base roster. Then everybody that bought the season pass get the 1st 6 characters of 2018 as their content for the season pass.

The MCU doesn't have oddball characters in goofy outfits outside of maybe a couple of characters from Guardians of the Galaxy.

Haha I know. Probably infinite micro transactions...

So far we have three fantastic titles and I don't know how we're going to choose.

Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite |OT| oh dear...
Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite |OT| Marvel vs. Capcom 4 Female Characters

It's amazing how I can see an image like this:

and feel no hype whatsoever now.

Why, Capcom? Why?!!

SoCal MvC-Gaf Represent!!

4 Female Characters is perfect.

Had a dream X had a MegaMan.exe skin. :(

I wish that was me. I'm already bored of Injustice 2. It's so stiff and feels repetitive. I think I'm the only person who doesn't like multiverse mode (why would I want to play the AI?).

Combofiend has been working at Capcom for awhile now - this will be his 3rd major retail shipped product. He isn't new. As for the hype - I actually think the game & its systems will wind up being very hype at the end of the day. Everything i've heard of & seen has led me to believe this is going to be an insane Marvel game.

Sure, the roster is disappointing because its small, but if thats the game's only problem, then just check back in a year from now & see what the roster swells up to by then. Its not going anywhere anytime soon, and going by Combofiend's talk in that Dubai interview, its being rolled into the CPT next year.

I haven't seen enough of MVCI's system to judge, so although I don't like what I see so far (still salty about no assists), I'm waiting to see their next gameplay trailer to properly judge that.

However, I still can't get over how horrid it looks presentation-wise. It really does have a mobile game aesthetic to me.

Has Combofiend been apart of a game that was successful?

Also, why was the release of this game pushed up? Game seems unfinished.

The release of the game wasn't pushed up - it was always set for Fall/Holiday 2017.

Combofiend helped get USF4 & SFV launched. USF4 is considered a success, and while SFV didn't meet its initial sales goal, it has gone on to become Capcom's largest ESport title by far, is the biggest competitively played fighting game in the world, and has become a really solid digital revenue generator for the publisher.

You will be seeing plenty of match footage with FGC players in less than 2 weeks.
