Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

Yeah, Daredevil, Black Panther, and Ms. Marvel are more likely to be part of Season Pass 2017.

Edited: I'm trying to figure out how the heck Venom would fit in this situation where they said All-New Characters for Season Pass 2017, unless they meant brand new moveset for Venom, or Agent Venom?
 
Also not having at least Daredevil or Iron Fist at launch was a mistake too. The Defenders will be on Netflix in August. That's a missed promotional opportunity. The Marvel series on netflix are like wildfire once they drop, they are talked about immediately.

I don't put any of this out of question. At the same time, I think it's perfectly reasonable for leakers to embellish and and distort the real information to have plausible deniability. I'm especially skeptical when leakers get descriptive at all about their source. You never really, really, know, even if Ryce leaked the game.

Might as well take the time now to make a bold and unlikely prediction that I think at least one or two X-Men are in the base.

Probably to avoid being overshadowed, kind of how Capcom used to do Captivate. Announcing outside of the conferences is pretty much a necessity unless Sony/MS want you featured. At least DBZ relatively got it's own day of press.

Black Panther, Daredevil and Ms.Marvel/Black Widow could end up being on the first DLC.

Having 24 characters in 2018 would be nice but I'll expect 16 at most, Capcom has the models from MvC3 after all.

The thing is new character could easily be somebody that wasn't in the previous title. Also wouldn't they have to make a new model for Venom given the fact that he wasn't in MVC3.
 
I know there's been a lot of character discussion going on in the thread, but I'm curious if people have given any thoughts to what they'd like to see in stages? Whether it be mashups, concepts, etc.

It's kind of a bygone aspect of the series, but I've always wondered if stage transitions/activity would ever return. COTA was always a personal favorite of mine from the series and that game had pretty lavish backgrounds with some nice variety. Some stages had breakable floors leading to different arenas (i.e. Mojo World), some had simple background changes during any round (Danger Room), some had a round 2 transition (Ice on the Beach), some had ideas of constant movement (The Deep aka The GOAT), and others were more or less static but sometimes with background things going on.

I know things like breakable floors could be counter-intuitive to the more modern focus on longer combos/assists, but I think variety in stages like that could help the game when it comes to style and appeal. And since rounds are apparently a thing in Infinite(?) it would make more sense than say MvC1-3.

Since it's a game series, he's a veteran from 1 and 2, it would be kinda weird to name him a newcomer.
 
Let's talk about the monster hunter's moveset. What arts and weapon abilities could they incorporate? I could see archdemon mode being an install
 
I feel like it might be agent venom as it's technically a new character. But we will see, I'd hope we get a Netflix character inthe season 1 DLC I'm hoping for Jessica jones would like to see what capcom can do with her move set.
 
People still stuck on msmarvel? Look at our roster, the only non mcu is nova because he's just a mvc3 vet/port. No way we see a from the ground up non mcu for awhile. Perhaps ms marvel gets planned to mcu phase 4/5 but then you'll want to hope for her in mvci2

We're eventually getting Fox characters, so the roster won't be mostly MCU forever. Plus there's her popularity to consider. If you look at Avengers Assemble, she's the new viewer's perspective character instead of Falcon (as it was for previous seasons). And again, we don't even know which Nova got in Richie would be easier to port, but Marvel could have shoehorned Sam in given when the roster was likely decided (since it may have been before Marvel gave up on their Sam push).

King K rool and Ridley are also major request for Smash Bros, I'm sure they'll win the smash ballot. Bayonetta has literally no chance.
 
Realistically, the DLC characters may be used for the variant covers since some of the covers aren't taken up by any Marvel characters (unless they're for Capcom characters). Unless the Champions cover is for Sam Alexander/Nova (oh god no), that cover wouldn't have a character associated with it if we get Richie (who would likely get one of the Guardians covers, since he's gonna appear in the main GotG book in the near future).

My mindset is if a character isn't in the mcu (or strong potential like venom thanks to sm:h) or wasn't in mvc3 there odds of being in mvci when it's all said and done go way down. Will Ms Marvel eventually get into the mcu? Maybe in a decade, I don't see mvci being supported for dlc in 10 years.

I can see King K. Rool because their audiences were very loud but did the fans basically gave up on Ridley during Smash Ballot?

But putting Ms. Marvel and Black Panther in same group with King K Rool and Ridley is just weird.

Venom probably won't be in the MCU anytime soon thanks to the non-MCU Sony movie coming up.

Black Panther will be in this game be's probably in the 2017 season pass of new character dlc. That puts him way above the other 3 you mentioned.

Which I addressed in my post since he can appear in a sm:h sequel. I didn't say (but I guess should have) if someone was previously in mvc2 and not back for mvc3 I can see them returning as well.

Edit: you actually read my post and edited, let's wait and see how this "non mcu venom" plays out since sony has attempted spiderman cinematic shit before and gone nowhere.

But again, the upcoming Sony movie already means that he won't be in the MCU anytime soon, so there's that to consider.

And as to add on to IntelliHeath's point, look at the characters joining the Avengers this season in Avengers Assemble...
  • Captain Marvel
  • Black Panther
  • Vision
  • Ant-Man
  • Wasp
  • Ms. Marvel
One of these characters are not like the others, yet they're all being pushed by Marvel. Remember that this is Marvel Entertainment running the show, not Marvel Studios (both are separate, now).

Then I guess the logic would be when capcom got marvel's premission to make venom part of the s1 dlc as a mvc2 vet this was before sony had presented or announced the stand alone venom film. Perhaps if marvel could do over they would have said no to venom.

Sony said the Venom was in production since March 2016, sometime before the Season 1 DLC characters may have been decided. Plus the non-MCU Venom movie isn't stopping Marvel from pushing Eddie Brock in the comics.

MvC:I was supposed to be the chosen one. The game from the only series that could single-handedly get me so hyped that I would back-out on my video game hiatus and buy a PS4.

But if these roster leaks are true...well, I guess I'll continue to have a lot more free time over the next couple years since I won't be playing any video games.

Venom would be new in the sense that he isn't being ported from MVC3. Like over half the roster is currently

I'm thinking that by "new" they mean, "not in Marvel 3".
 
Everyone is.

Seems like that announcement already took the remaining wind out of everyone's sails for Infinite. The leak started it all, of course.

But if Infinite has a great showing, people will probably get back on the boat.
