Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

Yeah assists were very limiting indeed Capcom

Capcom should just indefinitely delay Marvel Infinite until they get their shit together.

Actually maybe THAT'S why Marvel Infinite is coming out in 2017, they don't want it coming anywhere NEAR that new Dragon Ball game. Would look even more shameful.

ASW actually went "even further beyond" by incorporating dual assists... Gohan is calling BOTH Goku and Vegeta as an assist!

Get out of here with that shit thinking DBZ will be better than Marvel.
It's being made by ASW which means this is actually a legit fighting game.

This is a potential dream game, ASW basically has to not fuck it up as bad as Marvel Infinite for this game to floor Marvel Infinite.

It's not going to floor marvel infinite either way. It will probably do well because it's dragon ball but it won't be better than marvel infinite no matter how down you are on it.

Sorry man I gotta disagree there. Xrd and Central Fiction are miles better than SFV
I disagree , I've played both of them and well they are good. I'd rather play sfv.

Damn near a joke at this point. But call me crazy... but I'm not counting capcom out on this one.... I think they bringing the thunder.

Same here. My love for the Vs series is why I'm still expecting it to make a splash.

But this DBF game changes a lot. The Vs series was always unique because it was the only one of its kind. That's no longer a factor.

And a delay would be great, but would that honestly change anything? I feel like the impressions people have are there no matter what the game looks like.

But really, people screaming that MVCI is done are silly. It will not play out nearly as black and white as some want to believe. I expect both games to do great in the tournament scene.

Yeah. For real. Dragonball looks hype as all hell and I'll definitely be there on day 1.

That being said, there's definitely room for both and Marvel probably will still be hype as hell.

Oh Marvel Infinite was "done" quite a while ago, the writing has been on the wall. It's a potential under performer in the making like SFV.

What was saving Marvel Infinite was that it was the only "Marvel"-esque game out there (in the current generation) so it was covering a very unique space. DBF is threatening even that... if you want to play a fast, balls to the wall team action game then you can just play DBF.

DBF basically has to be competent game play wise (which it will be because it's ASW), not be loaded with DLC like Marvel and have enough characters in the game starting out. That's the floor that Marvel Infinite has set up itself.

I mean Arc does do DLC characters too but I get the feeling that Marvel is going to be more of a platform, while DBZ is going to be more complete and just have sequels on top of it

I don't think DBZ will launch with 30+ characters though. They have to be making everything from scratch. If they can launch with 20 something characters then that would be plenty for a new game like this.

Hear this all the time with sf.

People going to bitch about it all day and still play Marvel when there are other awesome alternatives out there.

I'd love to be wrong since asw makes great shit.

The thing that'll hurt MVCI isn't DBZ but the fact that SFV and SFxT were both garbage and MVCI looks like it hasn't learnt from their failures. There is definitely room for them to both coexist if Capcom don't fuck it up.

If we are talking saleswise and reception then SF has definitely botched it up.

If we are talking about how many entrants the game gets in FG events then yeah SF and Marvel are generally pretty safe. But that's not a prime indicator of general FG success.

see, here's the thing:
there's "other awesome alternatives" and then there's goku

I got Marvel with X/Sigma and now I got a 3v3 legit dbz fighter coming out.... bruhhhhhhh I don't know why this is happening.

I'm so happy guys.

Just wow.

Oh DBF seems to have a beta incoming almost a year before releasing the game.

That guy who said that the Marvel demo is coming soon better be right.

It's not, but it's a bigger indicator than most. I don't expect DBF to eat Marvel's lunch though, because I don't expect either game to play similar. DBF looks like it's still "anime" and GGish, which isn't bad at all, but caters definitely to a subset of players like Marvel caters to its own. In the same way that SF and Tekken don't really compete but people play both, I expect the same. I do think people will try this game over GG, and if it's good, stick with it just as long depending on how things roll out.

Despite all this, it's still another fighting game, and competition should get any developer shook. Bring on all the fighting games.

People downplaying how big this game can be, it's the second biggest games of the Xbox conference, views-wise here on GAF.

DB is going to run rings around other games in terms of sales based on being DB alone. But I hope it's a good fighting game that stays relevant in the scene.

I'll definitely play both, but I'd be lying if I said most of the MvCI hype I had didn't disappear after watching that glorious DBF trailer.

I don't think anyone is really downplaying it.

Anyway, I need more info on DBF. I'm expecting it to be quite good.

I'm playing both.

Yeah. I really don't think its gonna be this black and white "DBF is gonna kick Marvel out" situation that a lot of people seem to think. Game can be a huge success and still co-exist with Marvel just fine. Hesitant to say I'm "excited" for Infinite but I am looking forward to at least playing it. Really hyped for DBF.

It doesn't need to. Just get Goku, Vegeta, Trunks, both adult and teen Gohan, Cell, Frieza. Fat Buu, Super Buu, Gotenks, Beerus, and a few "oddball" picks and it covers all the important parts of DB. The problem with MVCI is that not only is it coming from a series famous for large rosters, it also decided to have 2 GnG characters AND 2 Darkstalkers and Spencer instead of Viewtiful Joe, Phoenix Wright, or Vergil and it also chose nemesis over Wesker or Haggar. It also put in Nova and Gamora instead of Wolverine, Deadpool, Ms. Marvel, or Star Lord. See what I'm getting at here? Lots of obscure and less popular picks in a roster that's already abysmally small compared to the last 3 games in the VS series

The biggest insult to injury is that not only does that game have assists... but it has dual assists.

Gohan is calling in that game's equivalent of Unibeam and Cold Shots at the same damn time. That's the type of next level evolution you expect from a MvC game.

Well I guess I am glad MvcI is not called Marvel 4.

I'm super hype for the DBZ fighter tbh

yeah...yeah i have to be honest, how i felt when watching that reveal dbf trailer is how i wanted and expected to feel when watching the mvci one (which of course didn't happen). dbf is legit the marvel 4 i prayed for

Exactly!

DBF looks amazing but it hasn't affected my excitement for Marvel in anyway. I'm just happy as hell to have so many new fighting games that excite me. Injustice 2 has already been great and now I have these two crazy games to look forward to. Just thrown in Smash Switch and I'm set.

But assists make gameplay too hard!!!

I've said this before: I really like the MvC games. But Capcom is making it rather difficult this time around...

Please show a great trailer tomorrow!

This should have just been MSH2.

The DBZ trailer was hype and im not even a DBZ fan.
As was said, that's how excited I wanted the Marvel trailers to be and yet they've failed in that.

I haven't played a DB game since ages, but I watched the anime when I was a kid.
So much hype when the trailer started, don't know if I'll feel the same tomorrow with Infinite.
