Marvel vs Capcom Infinite Gameplay/Pre-Launch Discussion Thread

In my view, Infinite is an insult to MvC fans. It is Capcom USA/JP leads and Capcom JP executives delivering a vastly inferior sequel (as they release subsequently lower quality fighting games). It ignores much of the legacy of the MvC series (missing characters, missing theme songs, etc.) so I cannot support it. Honestly, I think people in general shouldn't support this game either because it validates the decisions they made that resulted in Infinite's sorry state.
I'm pretty sure Marvel wants Capcom to ignore MvC's beginnings as an X-Men game. This is practically a reboot.

I mean I'd agree with that, but I do wish they might have tried a hard shading filter like MvC3 on one build and get some feedback for people on it.

I also would've preferred if they had gone with non-photorealistic rendering like most of their previous fighters but whatcha gonna do.

But I can't agree with people that insist this game looks like shit or something, on the whole it looks pretty good.

The graphical style was clearly choosen to look like the MCU. Capcom probably made Captain Marvel first and thought, "Wow! She looks great in this style! Almost like Brie Larson! Let's go with it!"

Not a single fucking human face.

Visually it has tons of neat particle effects and high quality shaders and stuff.

Like, yeah, it looks good, in the same way those "Mario in Unreal 4" 'tech demos' look good.

you need to get your eyes checked if you think those screenshots look good. the games visual and art style are trash.
nah my eyes are fine.

those screenshots don't look bad

stay shilling capcom games that look like shit. i bet you have a an imgur folder ready any time someone insults your precious sfv and now mvci.

"shill" is pretty close to becoming the next empty insult like "cuck"

Impressions from someone that plays fighting games casually:

- Gameplay is a blast. It's fun, it's punchy, it runs flawlessly.
- Mission mode does a great job of introducing you to the first combos other than auto ones. And it also shows how there are mechanics for combos in common across characters, which is nice and makes me willing to explore the roster more. It's a standard fighting game mission mode otherwise. As always, eventually something shows up that I just can't get the timing down.
- Not sure how relevant are the PS4Pro enhancements. It certainly doesn't look 4K sharp
- Haven't tried the Story mode yet.

I'm pleasantly surprised. I expected to just play the Story Mode and shelve it, but now I haven't even started that yet because I'm genuinely compelled by the gameplay.

I'm pleasantly surprised.

Does the mission mode have demonstrations so you can see how the combos are done?

BTW, at 8PM and 9PM PDT todayh, the final Curleh of UMvC3 will be having two MvC:I exhibitions. MarlinPie and RyanLV are two of the players, dunno who they're facing or if they're facing each other.

For the uninitiated, these are probably worth watching to see what MarlinPie, a known lab and execution monster has come up with in his time with the game. We're bound to see some crazy shit.

Details here.

I'm pretty sure Persia stated that its a UMVC3 exhibition not mvci.
She stated there are MVCI setups (provided by Capcom) for the players and spectators to play.
RyanLv has retweeted people complaining about not being able to get MVCI early like other pro players. But that was earlier this week, maybe he got the game and has practiced.Maybe i heard wrong- because I would love see a MVCI exhibition w/ those players.

Are there any impressions and walkthroughs for Thanos, Iron-Man, or Dante? I'm on the fence about this game, deciding whether to pre-order it now and get $10 off, or just wait until there's a huge sale.

I'm not huge on MVC's jump-heavy gameplay and on-screen craziness, but its a game I'd like to make combo videos for and just have fun.

Not a single fucking human face.

Chun-Li's massive facelift made her look better than nearly every other character, and by better, I mean better than average, which isn't something I can say for most of the cast. I'm quite impressed. Chris also got a good noticeable facelift.

I think Monster Hunter had best human face model out of all casts.

The game is a biscuit eating crackers for some. No matter what everything it does is wrong.

I think the game looks okay now. Some things look really good, some things look really bad, some are just okay. The main things bothering me right now are the menus and UI. The UI looks like a temp effort that never got replaced, and the menus are entry-level UE4.

I think Monster Hunter had best human face model out of all casts.

I expect DLC characters to look way better overall.

this thread really is stuck in a time loop isnt it? :D
