I don't understand the point of this thread: it was obvious that a shitty game like MvC:I was going to lost against a well made fighting game, especially on Nintendo platforms.

Especially in Japan.

Does anyone expected a different result?

I didn't expect the drop to be this bad

This is a new low for fighting games in Japan, period.

The numbers are extraordinarily. This a game predicted by the company in question to ship 2 million.

It sold less than USF2. That's pretty amazing feat

The point is to rib on mvci which has been hated for its artstyle and missing roster since day 1.The game isnt bad, pokemon selling 50k isnt a monumental achievement nor does it prove its better.
It was never a competition bw pokemon and mvc.
The only thing we can say for sure is that mvci is bombed horribly.

Pokkén DX is not a new game, and is also on a new platform, with a limited installed base. Plus, Marvel vs. Capcom sold half of what Ultra Street Fighter 2 on Switch did, which is pretty embarrassing considering that the latter is a port of two-decade old game.

Capcom is still going to put out multiple character passes for the next 3+ years to support this game service though, right?

The Pokken game is a re-release of the Wii U game, thread title should have been about USF2 which outperformed MvCi. One is a game Capcom had low expectations for, the other they expect 2 million sales for the fiscal year.

And, nobody expected it to be this low. I suggested it would have been less than 20k sales due to how it was charting on store rankings for sales in Japan when someone else suggested 40k.

Marvel IPs outside of Spiderman (which had its own live action series back in the day in Japan) are non-existant.

Once upon a time, the internet was laughing at USFII, wondering who will buy that overpriced decades old game in 2017. Turns out it is the more bankable fighting game for Capcom than MVCI lol.

Note to Capcom: release your next fighting game as far away from a Pokémon fighting game as you can get.

Given these numbers, though, that's assuming we get another one in the first place.
