A United States federal judge in Los Angeles has dismissed claims by Marvel Enterprises, who said that NCSoft’sCity of Heroes games allow players to copy the appearances of characters owned by Marvel. Decided on March 9, U.S. District Court Judge R. Gary Klausner sided with NCSoft in the opinion that the allegations made should be stricken as “false and sham” because Marvel took the issue to court, and not the people who created them.

LOL, so are foreign courts now relying on US rulings for precedent? I'd hope that the South Korean courts would have better sense than our Supreme Court. I'm a HUGE marvel fan and you know what I'm glad they lost.

This was hurting NOTHING. They should be flattered that people in a MMORPG care enough about their characters to emulate them.

Besides, they monitor the characters that are created anyway to make sure theres no aping of DC & Marvel characters.

But really, Marvel (who's usually cool about this type of thing) really jumed the gun and did the wrong thing.

No they don't. They may have claimed that in court, but log onto any CoH server and you'll see armies of Wolverine's and Hulks. I saw a whole supergroup once called The Hulks and they were just Green and Gray Hulks.

This is true. In my 3 months of CoH I had a Dr. Doom alt char that I ran around town with spamming "I AM DOOM!!!" over and over and never got warned or banned.

Yet I drop one "fuck you" to a little punk kill-stealer in WoW, and Blizzard warns me. Why don't you spend that time on fixing DOWNED SERVERS you asshats?
