Marvel's Spider-man 2 |OT| - The 19" inches of Venom you're Kraven for

So 100 percented it last night and yea I do agree with the complaints. The end really did feel rushed but I still did enjoy it. I agree with most about the MJ missions and the other one as someone else, in that I still hate them but at least even though MJ's make's Kraven's hunters look like fools, at least she can kick their asses now when you need to or just want to.. I want to play Spider-man in my Spider-man games and not other people who aren't Spider-man. Itmagine if in the old Arkham games you stopped playing as Batman at times and ended up playing as Alfred. That would suck just as much. At the same time I'm ok with inclusiveness but they kind of went so over the top it came off bad at times. Some games really have done a better job of doing that while not having to go look at us. Last of Us 1's main game is a great example of that. I'll never forget Bill and Ellie's reaction to certain reading materials he had laying around.

My only real other complaint is a control issue. I hated how you have to hit each shoulder button for the powers or gadgets. I wish hitting either of them just made it where you could choose to use the powers or the gadgets at the same time. I kept hitting the one for the powers more often when I was trying to use the gadgets and vice versa when I'd try to use the powers. Maybe just an option to switch them would be nice. Still my complaints are minor. It's still a great game I feel in spite of these minor issues.

So far my ranking for the games is 1 followed by 2 and miles tied for 2nd. I will certainly play it again when NG+ hits.

Is this suit in the game?

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Tell me I'm not the only one who thinks Peter's new model doesn't emote well at all .. his original model was so much better.

Comparatively Miles, MJ etc especially.

I really didn't expect to see so many people complete this game in a weekend. I know ratchet was short but spider man was a decent length and I expected this to be more of the same with much better side content.

Some people are completing in like 10 to 12 hours?
People completed the first one much quicker.

Judging by the writing so far, I swear 90% of people in this universe are homosexual. I don't mind "inclusion" but omg, stop shoving this shit down my throat. Most of the time when you rescue an NPC and take them to an ambulance, they say "thank you spider-man" and that's it, but the one piece of extra dialogue I've gotten so far was some guy saying something about his boyfriend. Then there was a side quest for Miles, help a guy ask another guy to homecoming. Black Cat, spider-man's ex gf, has a girlfriend herself now. Enough! WE GET IT!
For 90% of the people in this universe to be gay, there would have to be 3.3 people in this universe. I think you're being a little sensitive.

None of the characters emote as well. My guess is that facial animations were not finished. They needed more time. Some scenes actually have incomplete lip syncing.

Why the fuck did Insomniac always gave the exact same prompt on the car chases? It's so stupid.

This game is fantastic, but there are some aspects that they made it worse than SM1.

Wilson Fisk's bases for example, with certain objectives were cool to tackle. Now there's no extra objectives in any type of arena side content.

And don't get me started on gadgets. I was hoping for way more gadgets than the ones we get. At the very least the same ones we get on SM1 plus a few more, and you could only use 4 of them.

Not 4 gadgets from start to finish, come on Insomniac.

Good grief.....just started the mission where you have to play as Hailey, Miles' girlfriend. Wish Insomniac would stop doing this.

I wouldn't mind it as much if it was more of a short minigame of Haley doing art. The walking though is just very tedious and wastes the players time. It isn't fun and there is no puzzle to solve as you are told exactly what to do before you can even do it.

Miles is a hell of a lot more fun to play compared to Peter, so far.

Haven't gotten to the symtbiote stuff yet so I guess that might change that.

I think they are trying for something impactful with the greatly reduced soundscape. I don't think it works very well but that is mostly because of the "friendship" that is developed towards the end of the mission. There is a mission in Red Dead Revolver where you are picking flowers for an elderly man so that he can give them to his wife and rather than letting that be a sweet moment, Rockstar goes for the cheap joke of having his wife be long dead and decaying in their cabin. All the side content in Spider-Man 2 is the exact opposite, where everything has to have a greater, positive meaning which quickly grows tiresome.

Fitting that a game about Spider-Man is full of bugs. Had two crashes, multiple instances of standing in front of symbiote nests and the game telling me that I’m leaving the playable area, to horrible enemy clipping and a few spider bots being not claimable until loading a new save.

Sony really dropped the ball with the QA on this one, but I get that they had to rush this one out the door. The first party lineup has been pretty bare in 2023, especially when you compare it to Nintendo.

Currently watching it.

There's some good info in this.

Just watched it fully earlier. There's alot of tech talk in there that I wouldn't be able to comprehend, but the whole sequences of people on the streets actually going into buildings, the reflections upon reflections in rooms when looking through at a building. It's pretty remarkable as to what they were achieving here.

And then you see people complaining about MJs face despite the greatness going on in the world. Shame really.

The reward for finding all the spider bots is the most disappointing shit since the reward for getting all the Korok Seeds in BOTW and TOTK.

I had to google if I missed something, but no. What a waste.

Spider bots are just something extra to find for traversing the world, they are easy to spot and there aren't thousands of them like the Korok seeds.

it is inexcusable to have that kind of collectathon and not give a meaningful reward, or at least a nice Spiderverse related mission. It's shit, they couldnt even give the player a fucking (useless) suit?

Well, the reward for me was just the individual XP they dolled out and the Rare Tech

There are a few sections like this, but thankfully they are all very short unlike the Agraboda section in GOWR.

They don't really add much to the game other than a respite from the action.

Thankfully, the game has a LOT of action and is mostly action. Which is why these sections don't bother me at all.

I’m glad you call this out. Because it’s my thought exactly. Just this nuance in TLOU1 stood out to me, and was more impactful. I didn’t catch it my first play through, but caught on during the second playthrough. I felt it was more realistic than the over pandering shit that so over the top I can’t take it seriously.

Ima back pedal my earlier praise a bit as I spent my last hour playing wandering around a building with a tiny robot, then walking around as Peter hearing about bees and fish and shit and then doing some crappy puzzles (which seem
To be recurring side content now).

Sigh. When this game is exciting it is FIRE but I just wasted my 1 hour of game time this evening, almost fell asleep.

I'm still pretty early in. I haven't even gotten the Venom stuff yet, nor run into any MJ missions, but I'm feeling like this is my GotY for PlayStation. I like how the pacing can largely be what one makes of it overall, and even if only focusing on the main missions the flow is a welcome balance between intensity and narration. The side missions feel more meaty and tell more story than they did in the previous installments.

I can sometimes be overly critical of the minutiae of a game but so far I have no major complaints, merely minor annoyances that I figure I'll probably acclimate to once I get the chance to play the game in longer sessions.

Just completed the main storyline...I'm so hyped for the next game now!. Seems like the possibilities for the future title can go in so many different ways. Hopefully Wolverine ties into it somehow. 10/10 experience imo 🙌🏼

You know what confuses me about that one? The lack of bgm. This implies that everyone else can hear the music, that the presence of a continuous soundtrack playing at all times no matter where you are in the world is canonical and other characters just don't talk about it. Otherwise there's no actual reason to mute it during her mission.

Game is amazing but holy shit it sure did need some more QA. Some hilarious bugs I've had happen to me, two crashes as well.

That’s one way to see it 😂
Anyway horrible quest with the gameplay depth of gathering shit of my dogs. I wish Sony would learn to make games more engaging and not a series of loosely tied mini games and call it done. Amateurs them and fuck casuals for liking this shit. Where’s my gameplayyyyyyyyyy!

Rant ended. But I’m right. How can someone born with Nintendo Sega and Capcom really enjoy this shit fest. Sometimes I try to convince myself shit is good because that’s all they serve here but damn I want to escape the matrix so much sometimes sigh…

And it will be by far, the most idiotic, forced inclusion of her in the main story yet. Let me know how you liked it 'pacing-wise' once you're done with the game.
I mean, at least it's not another flashback or
mission with miles gf

Well the GF scene was an optional side thing (right?) and I think I had more fun shaking my controller like maraca to mix paint or solving amazing elevator puzzles than that last MJ section. But you play it and let me know how you feel.

Nah, mj sections are like a poor, uber simple splinter cell, that shit had me skipping cutscenes and i never skip cutscenes

What do you mean?

MJ taking down hunters who specialize in hunting their preys makes total sense. That Symkaria training real paid off.

When Spider-man 3 comes I'm expecting her to be the new Black Widow. That is if something like that doesn't happen in Spider-man 2 (haven't finished the game yet).

I haven’t played the game yet, but I’ve noticed that nearly every screenshot or gif of SM2 is quite dull and flat compared to SM1 & MM. Like the suits and the city etc are lacking rich colour and contrast. Did they go for a more muted and “realistic” aesthetic this time? Or is it because they’re HDR and I’m viewing them in SDR? For example, Peter’s original suit in SM1 was bright, deep red and blue. But the equivalent suit in SM2 is dull and faded - like the contrast on a tv has been turned way down.
