This explosion is nuts! (No news of casualties yet)

The firework fire is reported to have set off a stockpile of explosive material (Ammonium nitrate). Which was stored close by.

EDIT 2: 137 dead and still 10s missing, with over 5000 wounded.

This airport, allegedly 10km from the blast, has been affected as well. I'm not seeing any reports of deaths yet, that's a nice sign.

Even with an accident, what could cause an entire building to explode at that magnitude, even in a fireworks warehouse?

An explosion like that looks like it could kill thousands but it seems there was already some smaller explosions before that, which means people probably abandoned the area.

I will not be posting it here, but there are definitely casualties. People have been posting videos on "ground zero" there and you can see incinerated corpses everywhere. My heart goes out to all those affected by it. I can't imagine seeing that firsthand.

I live in Cyprus in a town about 200 km off the coast of Lebanon and i felt the explosion here. Scary stuff. Must have been a huge explosion to feel it that far away

The fuck....that starts off with just some fireworks then escalates quickly to a ducking bomb going off with a mushroom cloud, Jesus.

What's up with that big ass explosion? We're they hiding a hydrogen bomb in there? Does Beirut still exist?
