Master and Commanders sequel in works

Fuck yes Rabbitoh Russ'.

Loved Master and Commander. Habitually watch it when i want something quietly cerebral bubbling along in the background.

I think the requisite hype called for by a reboot for a long dormant film might leave any sequel or prequel feeling like a pretty hammy offering.

Master and Commander is a great movie, sat in my backlog for far too long. Watch it, report back to this topic.

Well, I agree the movie is a masterpiece but it sure is nothing for folks with short attention span - meaning basically the entire Instagram generation. So I'm not really sure how much a sequel makes sense, except if they maybe manage to make it with a reasonable budget.

Tussle Crowe (first name was a mistake but it worked so well I left it) learned to pluck a violin poorly for this movie.

RussllRussell Crowe is a weird one for me, since I dont like a lot of his films, gladiator is fantastic, so is romper stomper. i think his best work is bud white in la confidential. Because he's not that big really in real life, but he certain was imposing in that role

But other than that, not really a selling point to me, and its not because I think he's a bad actor.

I think CGI and digital sets will make a naval epic far more easy to film. Imagine the dome projection tech of Mandalorian, they could fit the entire top deck in that set!

Though they can still use the motorized set boat from the first film, it's still sitting in San Diego Harbour I believe.

Ehm, only a script being written. No director or actor. I would love a movie as epic as the first one. I've bought it twice. A wonderful film.

Yep, and that's a huge bummer. Not only does CGI not look as good, I feel like it's making unrealistic actors. Seems like it would be harder to visualize the set. Completely my speculation though, I don't really know.

Edit: Meant to add this to my first post.

I dunno, the dome projection tech from mando, combined with a practical deck set and some real wind and water spray would be about as immersive as an actor could hope for other than actually being on a boat in a giant water tank or open ocean a la Titanic or Water World (or M&C I suppose).

Don't get me wrong, I'd love for some 1:6 scale minis blowing each other up with cannon fire but I just don't think that capability exists anymore :(
