That throwing stick stunt of yours has boomeranged on us.
Stuff like this gets said and argued about every four years, this is probably MIMIC's first of age election.

Oh you got to vote early? That's cool, I have to vote by mail this time.

to quote South Park Creat Matt Stone on their new movie:

"If anyone walks out of this movie, or a Michael Moore movie, thinking about voting a different way, then they're ... stupid and shouldn't be voting,"

I pretty much agree with that. I'm not sure if undecideds shouldn't go to the polls, maybe uneducated voters shouldn't go. Although after Moore's movie I don't even see Bush is still in the race, a very good friend of mine said she was scared and panicked after seeing the movie (and I'm sure that was the reaction from may 18-21 year olds) there are way too many gullible people that will just buy into any propagonda for the sake of being rebels... I think though they also said somewhere that if you're informed you shouldn't be voting and that's basically what it comes down too, way too many people are going to take Moore' movie as gospel I don't see how Bush can possibly hang to win on election day...

I agree with Stone. Like I said in a previous topic about undecideds, if someone at this point really can't decide whether they'd prefer Kerry, Bush, Nader, or whomever, then presumably they'd be about equally happy with either result come November 3. And in that case, why not leave the decision up to those who actually do care?

Its 1000X better than the people who just say just vote without educating on reasons as to why to vote for someone. Why would anyone WANT uneducated people making governing decisions is beyond me. Unless these same people are gambleors and are betting everyone they tell this to will vote in their favor.

Haha, two pages of people telling MIMIC he's wrong and then eighty posts by MIMIC saying the opposite because he's all butt flustered. This is going in the archive.

This is what makes Moore the biggest hypocrite ever. Using media to scare people into believing his way, the very method he slanders in his films.

that's basically their point, hence their whole tirade against P. Diddy's "Vote or Die" campaign

Mad TV had an excellent parody sequence where they showed a "Rock the Vote" session and teens were just focused on Britney Spears or something...

It's not only Matt and Trey who think like this, Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel used to say this when they went on talk shows, saying that they don't like those who encourage voting because it leads to an uneducated electorate voting...

If people wanted their say in government, they'd do it and if they were educated enough about the situation in terms of issues, candidates, etc..., they'd probably take the time to vote anyway...

Seriously, if they had actual criteria for voting based on issue education and thoughtful personal analysis I'd bet my left arm half of the those smarty-pants who think other ppl are too lazy/uninformed/stupid to vote would get turned away from the ballot box too.

needs to show more effort.
I have never understood this whole civic duty crap. I don't vote, I doubt I ever will vote, and you shouldn't give a fuck about whether or not I vote. I don't give a shit about the issues, and nothing will ever make me informed. Outright forcing people like me to vote would merely add undeeded statistical noise to the outcome.

our president and such should be voted in solely by the people that actually do really really care about the outcome and are actually informed about what the dandidates will do when elected. Because that 15% (made up number) of the country, and only those 15%, are the ones that can make a "good" decision.

I don't vote
I don't care
I don't complain about who gets elected or what they are doing. Ever.

leave me and the rest of the apathetic commuity alone so that we may sit at home and sleep.

the day someone can prove me that my voting/not voting (not based on who wins, but my personal action of voting) decision will have a significant and direct impact on my personal daily life is the day I will start to care. Till then, no.

I agree with Stone. If you are still undecided at this point, you're a loser. Seriously, just stay home b/c it's apparent you can't make an informed opinion about shit. The Bush-Kerry race is about as partisan as it gets. If you don't know which side you fall on, I just don't know when you'll ever know. It's not like something will happen in the next few weeks that'll make a huge difference. That and the candidates are so similar that it really doesn't matter who wins. That's right, let's fucking admit what we all know. Nothing much will change. There are differences in policy, but with this government, nothing ever really gets done, so don't expect a huge change one way or another. Nothing wrong with being apathetic. If you don't believe in it, you don't need to vote. I never voted before, but I will this year. I'm voting Nader b/c he's the only one I give a shit about. If he wasn't on the ballot, I would vote for Kerry, but not b/c I like him, but b/c he's not Bush. That's the WRONG reason to vote for someone, so I might as well stay home. Luckily Nader's on the ballot, so there's no problem. PEACE.

He's right. How many kids are just gonna listen to what their parents are doing, then go out and vote the same way? Bush or Kerry, I don't care - that's not accurate. This is just one example of what people should not be voting.

They need to have a little quiz that asks you where you stand on several different issues and at the end it should tell the user which candidate or party for which they should vote.
