Oh but I thought the price drop came this week, and the White PS3 comes out on the 11th. Eh, I guess since Galaxy comes out in 2 weeks, this is the PS3s best chance to pass the Wii in a sales chart for a while, and I'm still thinking the PS3 will beat it, or come pretty close. But you Sp0rsk live in Japan so I guess you know more than I do about whos buying what over there lol

I'm still somewhat surprised by the lack of interest, regardless of the impressions which followed after the first days and weeks. It seemed like it had no steam at all right out of the gate. Was the marketing just not there?

Last week Famitsu also said Wii rose in sales a few thousand units. When MC came out we find out that the Wii actually dropped in sales by a few hundred units. I lost most of my trust in Famitsu

Okay. Well I was just going by what people have said about the price drop. Since you say the price drop isn't in effect yet then I take back my previous statements.

I lost interest in the game when i saw it was a srpg... i dont thinks that genre is popular enough to support too many of those.

make more rpg's!

i'll get fire emblem/advance wars/ff tactics if i want to play a srpg.

Yes. But this week Famitsu has it going up to 31,000. That isn't just statistical noise.

Wait, I'm really confused now. Are you saying they just haven't advertised it or it isn't happening? Everything I saw said that the price cut was happening October 17th in Japan, and a quick look at Amazon.co.jp shows that it reflects the price cut.

Like I said, if it has happened, Sony hasn't told anyone!

Nobody fucking knows there was a price drop. No ads in trains, tv, nothing.

I assume they will launch the campaign around Nov11 with the cracker ps3.

I think my local Bic Camera has the price already marked down for the 60GB model and has been that way for a week or so. I'll see if it's still that way later today when I stop by to look at some stuff.

Have yet to encounter a store with the old PS3 price left. All 20GB are 45k now, and 60GB 55k.

No details, just anecdotal evidence of every GameStop getting < 5 copies, most other stores slow to get shipments, Amazon temporarily out of stock, etc.

If you look in the Z&W thread, most stores are out if they even got any to begin with. Amazon is also sold out. Some stores have said they are getting more in later but it looks like a pitiful number of copies actually made it to stores for the release date.

One could argue it was like the first Katamari where sales were slow (~30K) the first few weeks and then suddenly turned into 100K.

But this is the 360, it's done.

The PS3 20GB dropped to 44,980 yen on Oct 17th. The PS3 60GB also dropped to 54,980 yen on Oct 17th.

Looking at that, I see it came out in July of 1999. Wow, that's a gap of more than 8 years; bigger even than such gaps like Super Metroid to Metroid Prime. I guess things like the PC and PS2 versions coming in the meantime helped disguise part of the emptiness. Speaking of which, PS2 Seaman...

Yeah actually, a surprisingly high amount of people know of Seaman. The ads are pretty funny too, so this week's sales might be disappointing to Vivarium.

Shoulda been on Wii!
