I was under the impression that Christian holidays (e.g. Easter ) weren't celebrated in Japan. Therefore I found it funny that the Japanese Media-Create listed it as a reason for sales. Am I missing something?

As a Christian holiday it's pretty minor. As a secular gift-giving time it exists to some lesser degree than in the west. Not a non-event like Easter.

Tamagotchi DS sales passed 900k mark. Which means the title will be the 1st to cross 1 mil line from 3rd parties.
MKDS is assured to reach 1 mil next week.

DS embraces six million seller games about a year after the launch.
Motto Brain Training is also doing extremely good. It could reach 1 mil by the end of this month.

It'll be interesting to see what DS sales level off at. It seemed to settle around the 45k in the second half of last year but I'd imagine it'll be a bit higher than that after the influx of big sellers over the past few weeks.

Yes it is possible.

If DS sales are 200k and are 50% of total HW sales for the week, then that means the other platforms sold about 200k combined. 200k is 50% of 400k.

What I find a bigger success is how DS software is outpacing GBA software.

Mario Kart Super Circuit is at about 950k in Japan and it's been out for how long?
Then in just a few weeks, Mario Kart DS is about to hit one million. Could it be the online component or the success of DS?

Also the only million sellers for GBA in Japan were Pokemon and Classic NES Mario. While DS now has about 6 million sellers, and Pokemon Diamond and Pearl (which I can't wait for) aren't even out.

On the subject of D&P, I wish they'd adapt the art style of Pokemon Ranger or even dungeon to Diamond and Pearl. In Ranger, it has puch bigger sprites, lusher colors and environments, and the Pokemon are actually out, about and animated.
