Media Create Sales 2/26 - 3/4

01. (PS3, Bandai-Namco) Gundam Musou - 170,725 / NEW
02. (NDS, Banpresto) Super Robot Wars W - 139,311 / NEW

Ok, so if Famitsu said Robot Wars sold more than Gundam, but Media Create shows that Gundam actually outsold Super Robot Wars by 30,000+ that means the numbers we get could be off by at least 30,000! I don't know what to believe anymore...

How come Gonintendo has a different chart than the one posted here....??

1. NDS - Super Robot Wars W, 178,500 *NEW
2. PS3- Gundam Musou, 176,000 *NEW
3. PSP - Monster Hunter Freedom 2, 163,250 (905,500)
4. NDS - Prof. Layton and the Mysterious Village, 40,750 (230,250)
5. Wii - Wii Sports, 40,250 (1,164,250)
6. NDS- Pokemon Diamond / Pearl , 33,000 (4,992,000)
7. NDS - New Super Mario Bros, 31,000 (4,397,500)
8. Wii - Wii Play, 30,500 (994,250)
9. NDS - Dragon Quest Monsters Joker, 29,750 (1,222,500)
10. Wii- Brain Training 2, 29,500 (4,370,250)

:O

the most intriguing thing of all is that between 10 and 15 titles in that Top 30 have been there for months now.

I think it will take a LONG time before another console can match DS' software perfomance. Look at Hotel Dusk, Wario, Common Knowledge training, Nintendo just keeps adding titles with legs of steel.

On another platform, these 3 titles would have disappeared already.

Dr- Layton's legs, amazing. It's its 3rd week in the Top 5, isn't it?

That's the Famitsu list (with the unnamed site's numbers), and this thread is a Media Create chart thread. There's a difference.

*counts amount of Nintendo DS 3rd party titles are in the chart*

Wow, things are really going well for 3rd parties in Japan on the DS eh? DQM still has great legs and 9 titles are 3rd party compared to the 1 PSP game (the only game that charted unfortunately). But alas, as Tabris said 3rd parties will concentrate on PSP because of that 1 game and S-E will put priority in releasing CCFFVII, oh well.

Yeah. It seems like the DS prints money for anyone who uses it properly.

Regarding Animal Crossing- It was at 3,843,000 the first week of January, and it's almost certainly over 4 million now.

EDIT: Lost a digit there.
EDITEDIT: Wow I screwed that up.

It's weird, one of the most Nintendominated weeks this year, and Sony pulls the 1st & 3rd slots by massive amounts. The drop off from 3rd place to 4th is ~100k.

Gundam Musou did very well, not quite as well as I expected, but I guess that's a result of the low install base. We'll see tomorrow if it did well enough to really push hardware or not.

Prof. Layton has some really nice legs. Been in the top 10 since launch, even with major releases coming out in competition. It'll likely drop into the top 30 soon, but should hang around there for a while, could end up with nearly 500k sales by the end of the year.

Anyway, this is about as exciting as MC is going to be this month. No big releases for any of the competitors the rest of March that I can think of. April might be interesting though.

I know there were people that made bets about this game not crossing the 1 million mark.

Amazing how slowly the title crawled to that number, it's been in the 900,000s for months!

Which is why we agree by convention to use Media Create numbers. Even if they're not always right, they're internally consistent, which is the most important thing when making comparisons.

NDS - 22
WII - 5
PS2 - 1
PSP - 1
PS3 - 1

That paints a picture that no one on the planet could have predicted. EVER

That makes me ask the question;

27-30 titles in Japan are on a Nintendo console. Is Sony screwed in Japan? and I mean screwed.

In case no one saw the list I posted previously....
10. Wii- Brain Training 2, 29,500 (4,370,250)

Holy gawd. It seems like Gundam Musou achieved sell-out status. Still, it'll most likely go through the BD effect. I'm predicting that despite Gundam sales, PS3's only going to have, at most, a 20k boost. Just like Famitsu predicted. Chances are that the majority of people who bought Gundam Musou had already purchase a PS3 before.

Edit: Congrats to Sony on having their first-ever top 10 seller for the PS3 in a long ass time, and even highest ranking software now, in Japan. It was an uphill battle filled with countless land mines, but they finally claimed a piece of battleground for themselves. But, for how long will they stay up there?

Edit: Fixed again.

Sure looks that way. I'm just not sure how they can continue at $600 and make any kind of dent in the current trend.

They really need for PS3 to be successful in the US and Europe.

Didn't you hear- PS3 won the console wars today. Duh

Brain Age has been in the top 30 for 94 weeks straight now. If it can stay for just 6 more weeks in that top 30, it will reach an epic 100 weeks of in the top 30. Unbelievable.

Anyone happen to know how the Final Fantasy III DS remake compares with the original Famicom game?

Same general plot, but they fleshed out the characters and evens a lot in the DS version. I think it's much better. Still very straight forward old school FF, but very well done.

Are you suggesting some sort of shadow Nintendo conspiracy rather than the actually-true explanation of GoNintendo using VGcharts' 'numbers', which were determined by extrapolating from the Famitsu top ten, which has Super Robot Wars in first?

He needs Yamauchi's approval to disclose such.
