Yeah, but keeping it open is misleading - these numbers are unconfirmed. The idea is to keep unconfirmed figures in the previous week's thread, clearly marked as UNCONFIRMED.

Some people actually base their articles on GAF's numbers.

Agreed.
If one can't read, one should not write articles ;).

It isn't clearly labelled. I've seen plenty of reactions to old sales chart that are mistaken for new, chart predictions, etc.

Even if they are discreetly labelled, people are lazy!

Why the hell did you make this thread??

These numbers have been wrong in the last couple of weeks.

Or did you just want to be "OMG I AM TEH FIRST TO POST IT LOOOL"??? :|

LOCK

Actually that's because the past few unconfirmed numbers were not posted by neo, but other people.

The numbers are obviously bogus. NSMB only selling 65,000 copies this week? Those Sonybots are getting more and brazen in their lies.

The actual sales numbers for the games mentioned will probably be the same but with different rankings (some games will fill the gaps). No all-DS top 10 yet, I think.

I think the DS having the top 10 software spots is possible is because everyone who wanted to buy a game this week spent their money on FF3.

Hardware seems confusing. Wasn't there supposed to be a stockpile of DSes?
Maybe their saving for winter?

Deal with it existing. I didn't go to all that effort to change the thread title just to go and lock it. :p

This thread has its place. It's not like Ioi who just posted an unextraordinary week of unconfirmed numbers in order to be first.

Don't post a new thread with unconfirmed numbers just to be "the guy who posted this weeks sales"

Let our sales hounds do their job. (guys post a new thread when the actual real numbers come out) For now use this to discuss the rumored numbers.

Interestingly enough, DS once again proves its unpredictability.

Most people assumed NSMB sales would skyrocket with FFIII sales because lots more people would pick it up and a DSLite and a mario to go along with it. Not only did this not happen, but Mario's sales jsut about halved for this week with the big FFIII release.

What does this say when Pokemon Diamond and Pearl come out? Is it possible the games will drop again? IS the 160,000 DS sales low because Nintendo once again held more stock to save for Pokemon?

What will FFIII sales be with a Full WEEK of sales next week?

So many questions, so few correct answers

Stay tuned for next week's episode

Yeah it's a bit nuts. I expected Mario to be 100k again this week, and all the other games to get a tiny boost as well. Instead, we had some big drops from last week as everyone seemed to concentrate on FFIII.

It'll be very interesting to see if Mario goes back up next week, or will FFIII take over as the 1 game people pick up with their new DS. 163k seems quite low, I know most were expecting 200k at least after the releatively low numbers last week. This may account for what happened to the other games. The new DS owners this week were FF fans, so they picked that up instead of Mario or AC. One things for sure, it's not easy to predict what'll happen from one week to the next.

The black DS is coming out this week in Japan, which means Nintendo probably has been slowing down production of the current models to have a lot of black DS units availible this week (LCD screens don't just grow on trees).

So that explains the "hoarding".

Also a lot of games people are listing as DS third party games with no legs ... actually did have quite good legs.

Children of Mana debuted at 102k and finished at 260k or so ... games like Slime Mori Mori DS also sold well over a duration. The resaon why people think these games flopped is because no one pays attention to what's happening outside the top 10, they just assume that if a game is outside the top 10 it's dropped off the face of the earth, lol.

Most Square-Enix software on the DS/GBA sell about 40-45% of its end total in it's first week. FF Tactics GBA, Seiken Dentsu GBA, Children of Mana, Slime Mori Mori, etc. all fall into this categorey.

If FFIII stays consistent with that it should crack 1-1.2 million. It should be interesting to see if FFIII gets a futher boost from the black DS releasing this weekend. The sell through rate of FFIII to me indicates that Square-Enix undershipped the game and could have sold 600k, maybe even 700k quite easily. They definitely should have had at least 100,000 FF3 DS hardware bundles as well.

Anyone know if the hardware sales were posted on 2ch by the same person who posted the software sales? Kurosaki Ichigo mentioned a lot of confusion about numbers on 2ch for this week.

People went to the store to buy Mario.

They saw the lines for FF3.

They said "screw it, lets buy donuts and come back next week"

Why would they wait a week?

Because Nintendo is a hit in the country. Thats right, Nintendos untapped market are farmboys, and they cant go to the city every day.
