Its going to pass GBA SP model sales in just a year (6.5 million source is Nintendo's report), hit 6 million in Oct-Nov and with boost of sales for christmas, be past the GBASP by summer 08'.
That's great. Maybe they can start selling games too, then.My Chemical Mouse said:How people can view PSP as not successful on ANY sort of level is simply beyond me.

it's an inverse case here. Hardware sells, software don't.

My Chemical Mouse said:1. Look at the #1 selling title for the week. Whoops?
2. Multimedia device, first and foremost. Software sales are pretty outstanding for a entertainment device ala the PSP. Put games on the Ipod and they would not be selling this well.
3. The chart says everything else successful in some sort of mannor (or the likes). PSP has sold over 20 million systems worldwide, and will be over 6 million in Japan alone by the end of this year. Looking at hardware sold, and profit alone it can be deemed a success. I was simply correcting whoever made the rather childish (no offense) f*cked chart.
super funk said:The new PSP revision is going to match the sales of the original GBA. And the inevitable PSP micro will enable PSPs total hardware sales to match, if not overcome the GBA. But you never seem to see the big picture do you?

We could talk about that, or we could talk about how the DS just passed 17 million and is closing the gap on PS2.My Chemical Mouse said:How people can view PSP as not successful on ANY sort of level is simply beyond me.

About #9. If the purchaser of old reliable decided to return (sold as used console) the PS3 console to Hiro, is Hiro obliged (must accept) to receive the old reliable ? I am not sure how the Japanese (or Famicom Dojo) standard business practice /policy regarding the "sold as used console" for good bought from their store.

Cheesemeister said:Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War for PSP is #1
Total unit sales for the top 100 titles totalled 769,131, an amount 53.69% of last week's total, and 60.01% of the weekly average.
Every year in the wake of Golden Week, downward trends in both sales and the number of new releases are strong. This year is no exception, as sales dramatically dropped off by half, making it the worst sales record for the year thus far. However, this still exceeded the sales recorded last year (about 686,000 units) and the year prior (about 287,000 units), showing a strengthening of the market.
The newest 3 ranking titles comprised 21.36% of weekly sales. Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War claimed the lion's share. A remake of Final Fantasy Tactics, originally released in June of 1997, it sold 154,891 units to allow the PSP to claim the top spot for the first time in a while.
As for prior releases, Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings and other titles for the DS and Wii continued their deep-seated popularity, fortifying Nintendo's claim to the most title rankings. In particular, Brain Age, 1000 Recipes, and others like it maintained their Golden Week levels of sales, presumably due to the demand generated by Mother's Day.
