Me and my shitty wording. I didn't meant that. I'm just saying that the way Nintendo tried to satisfy the "gamers" with TP wasn't a good idea imo. A game like OoT was good, I'm not saying otherwise. It's just that I prefer the "childlike" charm of the Zelda games such as LA, OoT and MC had.

In other words, no more Zelda games for the hardcore gamers please.
Oh man, they've got your scent now

The hell are you guys talking about? Vic is perfectly right: in the specific sense, TWW is way better than TP; in the general sense, Zelda is more timeless when it's pure in its concept, when it's about a child discovering that there is more to the world than he is used to and that he must muster courage previously unbeknownst to him, rather than about some seasoned or "badass" hero.

Ethelred, is all figure from famitsu ? Nice data. Any data on the Oracle OA/OOT games ?

I'm won't compare WW with TP but this is basically what I meant. and btw, I only liked the WW artstyle with Minish Cap

sorry for the derailing btw :lol

Oh man, PS3 is officially dead in Japan.I guess the only title left that can save it is FFXIII but I doubt even that could help....

Hehe I noticed your blurb on the left. Did you see the videos of Piyotama in action, the puzzler with eggs and so on where you match colors.

Apparently you can shake the controller to make the top eggs jolt and shift positions :)

Come on dude, two straight weeks we have 2 PS3 games in the top 30 (would that be top 15 or 20 even?).

RESURRECTION3

I sense the trend continuing with Rainbow 6 and Blazing Angels next week - maybe even 3 if NGS or Folksouls have more legs. :D

If they buy more copies of Blazing Angels than FolksSoul I'm gonna have to go over there and slap some sense into them.

Nothing is comparable to the Mario series in term of sales. Nothing. But I agree that it is a shame that Folksouls sold quite poor.

I think Sony missed an good thing with Folk Souls by not pushing it more.
Hell half of the peope out there still say "What is Folk Souls"?
The should have left it Monster Kingdom.

I have read that it was badly under ordered and did sell out but I have no real word on that.

So far all I have been asked to look for is:

Wii
DS lite
Zelda

Is there anything more you want me to keep an eye on? I am going in about half and hour.

Does anyone know WTF this is? What kind of 'game' is it, what's the point? Is this something I need if I want to become part of the NANA Live Staff? What the hell is NANA Live?

NANA is an extreamly popular manga which spawned a very popular anime and a eries of live action Movies starring Nakashima Mika.

I don't know how this game plays, but I have seen a lot of ads for it and have also seen my students buying it from the gamestore.

Folks Soul. qty's or lack thereof.

Ty.

People who say Nintendo made the wrong choice with going the 'realistic' style for TP need to remember that while it's not travelling to well in Japan, it's still doing fantastic everywhere else. It's consistently high in US and Euro charts, and it's been out for 7 months now.

Seems to be a sim game based on the Nana manga/anime/action movie
This sim game lets players take on the roles of original new characters designed by Yazawa Ai. Players can outfit their chosen avatar with all sorts of fun looks, including tomboy, mod, and the ever-popular Gothic Lolita. With their characters chosen, players will find themselves immersed in Nana K. and Nana O's Tokyo, allowing them to explore the fashion and music worlds looking for life, love, or just a good time!

I'd be curious to know if Itadaki Street went through it's first shipment

Ok, I'll add that.

As for Folks Soul, there was plenty in-store yesterday so I am guessing there still will be, but I am happy the check.

I don't think it will perform as well as TP in US or Europe. Hopefully this demonstrates that there is room for both types of artistic interpretation. It would be sad for either to go away permanently.

vinnk, i dont know if anyone's already asked you this, but does anyone who works at these stores think its weird to see you every week counting games?

01. [NDS] The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (Nintendo) - 303,000 / NEW
02. [NDS] Itadaki Street DS (Square-Enix) - 149,000 / NEW

I hoped something closer to 350k for Zelda, but probably Itadaki diverted some users. still great numbers, let's see if it has legs.

I can imagine the clerks would have to be incredibly annoyed by now, even though Japanese manners would prevent them from showing even a hint of such an emotion. =/

My priority would be Hajime no Ippo Wii.

Then, if you have time:

Ouendan 2 DS, just see if it's widely available.
And Trusty Bell 360, please.

Oh, wait, it's based on that NANA? I'll pass then, I didn't like that manga at all.

I asked Vinnk to check Ouendan 2 out and he said it was no longer supply constrained last week so everything should be bright and happy.

Any word on Ippo's reviews? I think I recall it got a bad review a few weeks back. :\

Found it. It was famitsu and it got 6 / 7 / 6 / 6 - (25/40)

Ugh... But it looks so good in pics :(

Bet it will be gone from top 30 next week.

I forgot how good it looked on the screen. But the controls are apparently broken/crappy.

He answered this already, he doesn't always just go there to count games, he also often buys some games, so they won't mind to see him counting games ^^.

Impressive debut for Zelda.

Folks Souls will not do good (as expected).

Surprised to see NGS still there, TB dropping off isn't a surprise though.

SPM is constantly hovering in the charts, maybe it'll have DS-style legs?

JudgeN said:

Yup, people buy NSMB because it's colorful and should likewise buy FS too, because it's colorful ffs.

Not even remotely comparable in any way.

They now have 3 types of control. The broken/crappy "point at screen" control, a WiiBoxing type of control and classic controller.

Anyways it's Famitsu, maybe the publisher just didn't order enough ad space.

I predict a good future for the DS from here on out. It's been a shaky last couple of years, but I think Nintendo might have a decent product on their hands.

I was starting to worry a bit about Sony, but they released two very big hits recently that have taken the next gen market by storm.

:lol You haven't come up with anything like this in a while AniHawk.

Agree. I think that others things conditionned the "failure" of the game in Japan: first, the fact that the game has been delayed a lot and the hype has gone down. Second, the GC vesion was only OnLine (Why ? I really don't see the motivation here), third, it was a launch game (small userbase). Fourth, it was the last game of a series in decline since Majora's Mask. Fifth, people who bought the Wii in Japan are a lot more casual then people who bought a Wii in the Occident. This favorised Wii Sports (that was not bundled) and defavorised Twilight Princess.
I'm glad to see that Phantom Hourglass seems to have inverted the tendence (but there were A LOT o preconditions for the game to sell well).

Uhm...I thought Japan was a democratic nation. Who cares if you count the number of consoles and games ? I Mean: I don't think he will arrested for that. :D

wow, it seems there are just 2 types of legs right now, DS games ones and no legs at all. Trusty Bell sure fell hard, but it was quite near its first shipment (~70k) so its not a bomb, Namco matched demand. Then other titles like FF2, DBZ SB2, GG AC PS2, RE4 Wii ,Harvest Moon Wii...they all dissapear within 1 or 2 weeks at most.

This time of the year looks to be so slow that only DS consistent games which sell the same through all the year hold most of the top30 places, making new entries debut and dissapear the next week.

Its hard to track particular games thanks to that, oh well, Famitsu Top500 2006 soon please.

Great sales for Zelda, good start for Itadaki @ ~150k, but not quite a good as the PS2 version's opening @ ~220k

Chrono said:

The last famitsu number I saw of it had it at around 547k, it should crawl to 600k range by the time it's done, probably 700k if it keeps chugging along.
