How does Paper Mario usually fair in Japan?
I mean, it's Mario.
It's an RPG.
Has to be decent, right?
Okay, maybe me calling it a turd was a bit much, so I'll change it to this, the game doesn't look like what I'd expect some of the top developers at Nintendo to have put together. It honestly looks like a mediocre project just a bit above that of Pandora's Tower, except with a much larger push. The graphics aren't impressive, and from the media I've seen of it, the game feels like a more ambitious rail shooter than some genre defining classic. I think Kid Icarus: Uprising is a waste of talent that I'd put up with Killzone and Resistance in the "Only hardcore x fans care about" category.
If the almost 500k of OoT3D have shown us something, it's that there's demand for Zelda...just not on Wii, it seems

I can see the 3DS Smash Bros. being a million-seller too.
Around 400k. And here the Mario & Luigi games for comparison.
I would say Paper Mario 3DS could sell more than the N64 and NGC games, just because it is on a much healthier platform and the Mario brand regained quite a bit of popularity over the past generation.
I think had they combined the 3rd person combat with the flight (as in, I could jump and take flight anytime I want) it would be pretty awesome and ground breaking.
Dead Phoenix from Capcom? Anyone remember that video?
Anyways KI is one of my most wanted. Call me a Sakurai fan. I think the online multiplayer could be really addictive.

Best news about these 3DS sales: it pretty much guarantees increased japanese 3rd parties support. Nintendo cut the price first and foremost to build a platform with a sufficient userbase to carry an ecosystem. Now we can expect a constant flow of games for the next 2 years. In that case, early success secures future success.
It should've been an action adventure title in the skies, but instead it's a more ambitious rail shooter.
Edit: These threads seriously have just become Nintendo-central now. It'll be curious to see how many stick around when (more like if at this stage) the competition decides to take its head out of the ground.
I don't know anything about the Kid Icarus lore since I've only heard bad things about the original titles, but just from the aesthetic I felt Uprising should've been more akin to Gravity Daze, with a large focus on flight (with that said GD is going to sell a lot less than KI does simply due to hardware bases, and who's releasing these games). It should've been an action adventure title in the skies, but instead it's a more ambitious rail shooter.

MK7 is as of this week fastest selling one. 1.3 million against 1.27 million of MKWii.I think there's the chance of Mario Kart 7 reaching the 3 million mark.
It started way higher than the DS one.
I'm guessing because of the increase in 3DS sales and MK7 caused more people to buy MKDS.MKDS sold better in 2011 compared to 2010. Very interesting.
Well, as someone who wasn't around during Nintendo's golden era I can say I'm not enjoying this. I'm not even saying that as someone who's a large Vita supporter, I'm saying that as someone who's interested in sales talks. These threads have devolved into the same conversations and pining over the sale software, with the same gifs and images posted in response to sales.
Just because BurntPork is banned doesn't mean you have to take up his mantle as crazy Nintendo fan. You're really reaching. Nintendo was interested in stealing the PSP's third party support and did so by securing most of the franchises that were successful. I don't think they consciously tailored their already successful franchises to accommodate this audience.

MKWii started strongly but far away from the holiday season. MKDS didn't started as strong, probably because the franchise was coming from its "dark ages" of sub-million sales.

The race is not over yet.
Technically, if you look at the recent sales of the handheld Zeldas; it may give the impression that people were not interested on them either. There are 150 million DS and the last Zelda on it (Spirit Tracks); did like 4-5 million worldwide. If the almost 500k of OoT3D have shown us something, it's that there's demand for Zelda...just not on Wii, it seems
Was it bundled in Japan?
Two things
1) The Mario 3D Land part is considered an exaggeration even by myself, so...
2) I've taken a Nintendo brand which hasn't gone over 300k, and one...which comes back after 20 years, and has still to show IF it can attract people...so, I'm not talking about the usual big big successful Nintendo franchises.
And mine is just speculation based on some things I noticed. Especially in FE.

Ugh, this is exactly what I was talking about. Apparently only 1 platform matters, the rest are literally dead, and anything on them isn't worthy of discussion other than to note how dead it is.
Though, I guess I shouldn't be surprised given who it is. Mpl is one of the most transparent one-company only posters on GAF. I don't think I've ever seen him discuss non-Nintendo things unless they were a part of his Comgnet posts or predictions.

If you are interested in numbers of other platforms, how about posting them yourself? Why does he have to collect and sort all of the numbers? That's quite a hassle and it's easily understandable why he only does it for the platform that interests him the most.Ugh, this is exactly what I was talking about. We often get LTD software updates for just one specific platform. I don't think he had any malicious intentions when he posted that.
How is that? Seemed pretty good to me, from ports like RE4 to OG titles like MH3. I mean, what first party core title did undeservedly bad? The only one I can think of that actually did badly is Other M and very recently SS but for most both deserved that... I guess you'd think SMG2 could do better rather than worse than the first game but it's not like it did badly either...Considering how the Wii user base treated most first and third party core oriented titles I would be inclined to agree.
