Stock was never an issue. The PS4 will reach sub Wii U numbers within the next few weeks.

If this isn't a joke regarding Mario Kart 8 pushing Wii U for a few weeks starting may, then I doubt this. Sub Wii U is really low and hard to achieve.

PS4 drops down 7k when everyone else goes up or stays the same, hopefully lack of supply rather than lack of interest.

Great Vita numbers, so heart warming.

Decent numbers for PS4, was expecting lower numbers after seeing that the MGS demo is the only charting PS4 game at #18.

Those Atelier Ayesha numbers really are bad, even compared to the other ports:

Atelier Totori Plus 27.651
Atelier Meruru Plus 25.095
New Atelier Rorona 17.536 (PS3: 14.060, released at the same day)
Atelier Ayesha Plus 11.663

Can't see that happening. It's going to slide for a while I reckon.

It'll be interesting to see what kind of baseline it will find. Surely above the 5k Wii U was seeing at times last year. But I don't think sub 10k is out of the question; something that so many here thought would never happen.

Who's taking bets on when the streams cross? Week 9 (I'd hope not)? Week 10 (possibly)? Week 11? Week 12?

Happy to see poor New Love Plus+ numbers. If they want to sell a new version of the game at full price like that, there should be a significant amount of new content. Yet they don't even bother adding new girls.

?? pretty sure pre launch most here thought it was likely to do quite poorly. not wiiu poorly but it was definitely the consensus.

PS4 has a whopping two games coming out in April, both of which are also on PS3. You be the judge of that.
To be fair though that sounds like it was over here too after launch, there's a lack of games even now imo, but at least we get games suited for our market, what's out in Japan now that is made for the japanese market? Still nothing?

PS4 6th week famitsu: 491.889

so it's basically better than GCN and PS3 but worse than PS2, Wii and WiiU.

I know the PS4 is going to go further down but I have to call all those doom posts hyperbole as of right now.

Over time, PS3 managed to sell decently and WiiU is dead now so there's plenty of time for things to change.

People were expecting/predicting a sub 10k baseline??? Directly pre launch perhaps (though that's now quite how I remember it). I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that at the actual time Wii U was seeing those horrific ~5k numbers, anytime the PS4 was mentioned the consensus seemed to be that it would obliterate Wii U AND PS3 launch numbers. So yes it obliterated PS3 for a week or two, but the dropoff has been precipitous.

If Wii U is dead, what will you be calling the PS4 when it, already trailing launch aligned, also drops below Wii U on a weekly basis (almost certain to happen at least temporarily after Kart).

Do we have any sales comparisons for how the PS3 did in japan compared to PS4 at this far into the launch?

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Not surprised by PS4 really. You either wanted it at launch, or the Ground Zeroes demo was your final push, and then after that what would have pushed you these other weeks into getting it?

Worse still, theres not even anything huge on the immediate horizon to even justify the tax jump in this week, and so down it goes regardless. Japanese home console development is totally in the shitter, its tragic. Probably going to be at least another three quarters of a year before it really improves, but it doesn't seem like much of a loss because thats how far the country has managed to slip in relevance to the rest of the clearly PS4 hungry world.

3DS uptick is the tax and the MonHun model in conjunction I guess? Wasn't there some WiiU bunduru that might have tempted the pre-tax jump too? Still, funny to see the rise and nothing else software.

What do you want? A virtual harem? One girl is enough for one lone otaku!

If Wii U rises above PS4 when MK8 comes out, it's not a case of dead PS4, but a case of undead Wii U. Showing its rotten body higher up the charts to eat some poor Nintendo fan's souls :(.

So. If the PS3 managed to sell decently, the Wii U can too. Believe ;)

you definitely have a different memory of things than me, it was all low balling the first year and not expecting decent results till next year or later when the bigger names might start] to hit

Right before launch, you are probably right (though I still don't think I saw anybody predicting a sub 10k baseline). Maybe I'll dig around when I have some time later, but I'll be surprised if I can find any non-Nintendo die hards one year ago expecting (a) sub 10k baseline, (b) tracking well behind Wii U launch aligned, six weeks in.

Either way together we can light a candle and mourn the Japenese console market as it continues through its apparent death throes. :(

Indeed, I agree.

It'll just be slightly amusing when this "dead" console is above the PS4 in the charts.

Any predictions on when PS4 surpasses Wii U LTD (not launch aligned; total)? Any Nintendo fans have the balls to predict "never"? xD

Dang, that's not a bad number for Project Diva F 2nd, but it's not good either.
But Ayesha itself sold a lot less on PS3 than the previous Atelier games as well..

It did better than Roronoa and pretty much in line with Totori (a few thousand less).

The king has returned.
Great to see Vita doing well too.

I expected PS4 would sell better. Seems japanese people aren't sold on hype alone...

then I will call it dead as well.

I want to see a trend, a moment in time where it's clear people will not want the console, even if/when heavy hitters arrive and a sign that it will, unvariably, remain behind the WiiU.

WiiU started strong but fell of a cliff only to stay in some sort of unreversible comma. PS4 may or may not suffer the same fate but we'll have to wait to see. To me, it looks like a typical decline post-launch, it's a bad trend, no question about it, but I think we have to wait.

I personally don't put much weight on the WiiU being stronger than PS4 launch aligned specially when the WiiU had a holiday season while the PS4 didn't.

Next week we'll play the game "which system will drop harder".

Too bloodthirsty Chris, I'm scared of you

Dragonsworne may have been right after all. The Wii U maybe poised to be the leading home console in Japan for this generation lol.

Too bad he lost his faith in the establishment before the PS4 launched lol.
