Media Create Sales: Week 14, 2012 (Apr 02 - Apr 08)

I agree.
I think that this announce could be a very positive "re-start" point for Sony's Vita support.

it would be if it should have been developed not by SCE

the lack of third party support is one of the biggest problem for Vita actually... see how many developers still make announcements for PSP software

I've pointed it out before, but comparing 3DS to DS is a bit tricky.

The market has changed, 2012 is not the same as 2004.

Two screens is nothing new by now, touchscreen interfaces have been optimized well beyond what DS or 3DS offer (although I have to say 3DS' touchscreen is more than fine).

Console-like experiences on handhelds are nothing innovative anymore, even though it's still a tricky market for some franchises (good budget management is needed).

All in all, i think 3DS is doing quite well for itself, even if it's not setting the charts on fire like DS. At least for the moment it's selling better, but we all know that will change pretty soon.

Same could be said for Vita, well.. if it wasn't so abysmal. I think Sony will have a dramatic change from last gen to this one, in where sales in the Americas+EUR will far surpass Japan. That is unless things are corrected.

It's Japan. Huge part of sales for typical title comes from first week and those with longer legs are exception not the norm.

So without notable software releases in those months you cannot have healthy soft sales.

That's kind of the point - there were no notable software releases.

Also, PSP software is down significantly as well. Even combined software sales of PSP and PSV is down sharply in the same month comparing to last year.

WW? Not yet: DS started in US to sell much more thanks to NSMB and Lite. Neither BT did the trick. In Europe, it was already selling fine / well, by the way.
I stand corrected then. Still, there's nothing planned for the next few months to cause a turnaround in the west.

It's not, imo.
It's the same argument: a game here and there does not help Vita performance in the market; it would be a different situation with 2-3 games announced every week on Famitsu, or a conference like the one by Nintendo in September where they announced tons of games both internal and from third parties.

Furthermore, this game probably went under development before the console was released; it's not that Sony looked at the horrible sales and said "Then, let's develop a MH clone to help to reinvigorate sales!"

E3 is less than two months away. If you don't see a bunch of big announcements then you can feel free to complain. But at this point I don't see any point in spoiling possible suprises just to satiate Nintendo fans, because ironically they're the ones who seem most vested in Vita's game announcements.

I dont think that there will be much japanese Vita games announced at E3. It is better to wait for TGS.

Since it's a topic where people speak about Japanese sales, I would take it out of the context E3, where it will be unlikely to see many announcements for this market.

Good grief I thought I was in the "Vita losing support thread". It's like the same thing. lol
I think that the Vita will do fine overall as time goes by. I'm not talking about losing support if that is what you mean? But it is a fact that it is much more likely to see japanese games being announced at TGS compared to E3 :)
