Thirteen flew over the cuckoo's nest
I still don't understand why people believe the Switch version of DQXI is ready to go. Like, this is SE we are talking about, don't you think we'd have learned something about it if it's actually close to finish? They announce games with concept arts. And we are talking about a new system half year into the market, why do people believe SE can handle an AAA title on that system so quick? Also unless a game bombed like shit nobody's gonna show a trailer of a port less than two month after launch. DQXI is not pulling DQIX numbers, but it's far from bombing either. Even the drop off was well anticipated by SE, as evidenced by their financial forecast. Why would people assume SE is all panic and rushing the Switch version instead of waiting for a bigger install base and a longer interval for double dippers?

Maybe after that Secret of Mana remake announcement GAF is too panic about Switch 3rd party support they just want a big name to drop as quick as possible whether it makes sense or not. Relax guys. Switch is killing it in Japan and 3rd parties are not dumb, at least not as dumb as you think.

You are right on everything here. Knowing Square Enix best hopes we have is that DQSwitch launches alongside the western versions in 2018. Definitely not in 2017 you can be sure of that.

Actually the best way for DQXI Switch to sell well would be if it would be something like an international version, with orchestral soundtrack and English voices added. That way it would offer something over the PS4 version and it could release together with the Western launch.

It's not like the PS4 version is coming any time soon. They have plenty of time if they actually want to do it.

PS4 is already out though? What I suggested was that they do the Switch version alongside the localization and release it with the other Western versions. For Japan, this version would release alone around the time of the Western launch.

Switch wishes it were PS4 3rd parties wise. PS4 during its middling hardware and consistently worse software sales already got a lot of PS3 and Vita ports by 3rd parties, and only since around the start of last year PS4 sales actually look more consistently favorable compared to PS3/Vita versions.

This is true, publishers also producing PS4 exclusives despite weak hardware sales, like Disgaea 5, also mentioned having marketing support by Sony, so I'm sure a lot of the early PS4 exclusives, or ports, weren't actually a decision driven by publishers in response to the market, but rather supplemented by Sony funding.

Fairly certain they already announced a mobile game for the anniversary, didn't they?

She is wondering if they are keeping secret the titles for the TGS conference. If this is not the case, then Nintendo will be the only relevant system this holidays.

"If this is not the case?" As Chris pointed out, we've known that for a while now. I don't see what Sony could announce at such close notice to boost sales, and 3DS is off for one last hurrah.

It's planned for this fiscal year.
We'll see if it's delayed or not.

I'm totally expecting that one in late February/ late March, that's usually when the 'not releasing this CY but still this FY' games end up, especially on PS platforms.

Maybe they'll sell a Monster Hunter World bundle similar to how they sold the Dragon Quest Heroes bundle.

I certainly wouldn't put it past them. In fact, I'm now totally expecting that to be announced during the presser :p

Last week of March would be a good time to release for Dynasty Warriors 9. It's usually a week of big releases (like Dark Souls III last year).

Also, *nodds about Direct date*

For fall direct I'll repeat the same. Switch heavily focused, like last year with 3DS, but with different priorities from Nintendo.

That's my impression since months ago. Nintendo revealed entire year's important titles from January event. It's the first time they do something like that. The only other title that was announced since then for 2017 was Pokken I think. Unless they hide a surprise for December, this Direct will be about dating holiday releases and announced / unannouched 2018 projects from first, second and third parties.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
I wonder if there are any big surprise announcement during this year pre-TGS direct

Animal Crossing Mobile...maybe.
Maybe we'll get a tease of Fire Emblem Switch. (Wishful thinking honestly)

Unlikely....they are still pushing FE Heroes and FEWarriors for now - we are also getting XB2, Project Octopath, Tales of information....doubt there is any need to show FE this early.

I'll gladly take some project Octopath info.

Completely forgot about that. The tease looked great tho.

....i'd assumed she was already playable this whole time.
whaddaya know

No, she was announced without any date at gamescom, and official JP Twitter account specified it would be in September (wasn't mentioned anywhere else for some reason).

Animal Crossing is supposed to release by the end of the year so they have to say something about it's status in the near future.

Why not annoucing both the mobile game and the console game in the same time and also having both games interacting with each other?

3DS, everyone loves pushing out new 3DS titles at the end of its life and then wondering why the hell it didn't sell, so why should SEGA not jump in on that too!

They already are. *points to Atlus*

I imagine most people like me only have maybe enough in their 3DS game budget for one or two more 3DS games, and they are both Pokémon.

To dispel whatever rumors, how the Revelations games are being sold on Switch in Japan.

The first game is being sold as stand alone retail and digital at 2990 and 2769 yen respectively, Revelations 2 is sold digital only at 2769, 2 is not getting a stand alone release in Japan.

There will be a 2 in 1 pack, it contains a card with the first game and a voucher for a digital copy of the second one, priced at 4990 yen.

So no, there is no retail copy of Revelations 2 for Switch releasing anywhere.
According to Famitsu, Revelations is 13GB and Revelations 2 is 26GB in size. I guess the cost of carts above 16GB is the reason why Capcom avoided a physical release for the second game.

That's not Famitsu, that's Capcom press release:

So yeah, the download sizes are legit. Both games on same cart would require 39GB... not sure there are carts that big yet. If yes, must cost a ton.

Of course they could actually try to optimise and compress the whole thing, but I doubt Capcom would like to actually put in the effort for that.

And then people would complain about compressed audio/textures/video files.

Lol. Vita version fit on a 4GB (in reality, 3.4GB) cart. Seems odd that they couldn't get it to 16GB on Switch.

Yeah but the Vita version has worse textures and visuals than Resident Evil Revelations... on 3DS.

Yes, presumably the Vita version was also based off something else before it became the Vita version :p

I know, I'm just saying, I'm sure there is a level of compression between 26GB and 3.4GB lol.

Yup but then again, people would complain about compressed assets. Compression means reducing quality somewhere. And it's a game meant to be displayed on both a handheld or a big TV screen :p

Ah, thanks for the correction. :)

How big is the PS4 version though? I'm seeing under 7GB but only via google searching.

26GB sounds more appropriate for a combined total

23.1GB, so yeah I don't know why there's an additional 3GB.
Btw, is it really only 20 bucks while including every DLC ? 'cause that would be cheaper than on steam or PSN.

I remember Level 5 saying The Snack World would be stronger than Yokai Watch last year, I fail to see this as "solid sales"

Expectations for this title have been adjusted quite a bit already after they messed up the mobile game launch and the Anime failed to attract the audience. For whatever the retailers had ordered its doing quite okay...obv. it wont do YW numbers but this was never going to happen in Japan.
