Well not terrible, but that's hardly higher than KH 358/2 Days.
I think 358/2D sold 600K lifetime.

I don't either, but that's the only thing coming that could help it in Japan correct?
It's the only Vita title on Famitsu's most wanted...
The upcoming release schedule seems to have no downtime for the 3DS.
Kid Icarus, Fire Emblem, Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest Monsters and Rune Factory all pretty soon, right?
Edit: In terms of titles that might have some sort of impact.
Hatsune Miku could potentially get to 100k over time.
I think the problem is that the 3DS is too alive - and it's being purchased as the followup to the PSP.
This brings up an interesting question... is it possible for the vita to do well in north america and in Europe with no Japanese-centric games?
Is there a Netflix type service in Japan? Any chance a service like that could become a really popular use for Vita?
Well, because there aren't any other well-known IPs announced for the Vita, guess we'll have to wait till TGS or is there some kind of PS Meeting in the coming weeks/months?
So what's the reason Harvest Moon is suddenly doing so well?
The last one I played was the Gamecube game, and before that the Gameboy game (original Gameboy). A silconera post on the 2nd page (4th for 50ppp people) says that you can now customise your ranch and characters etc -- so has it gone more in the sort of Animal Crossing type direction?
I can't believe everyone keep forgetting Miku!
The important sales facts of 2012 so far:
1) 3DS sells like hot cakes
2) PS Vita struggles
3) 3DS software three-headed hydra shows off tremendous legs
4) Harvest Moon shatters everyone's expectations
5) Bombalibur bombed.
6) Final Fantasy XIII-2 showed some legs
I'd like Falcom to see the light and start using those 3DS kits. With more equalized media costs this time around, there's more incentive for them to go multiplatform and that 3DS base is going to look better and better as time goes on. All their old PC (Ys VI engine) and PSP games would make for good ports, even their Vita stuff so far looks like it'd translate pretty painlessly to 3DS.
It's a spinoff to a series that has never seen a western release, so very few on GAF will care about it, and because it's on a region-locked platform 1 of the 4 people on GAF who care about Miku games will actually get to play it. It's not exactly the most relevant series in people's minds.
Because it's a spinoff it's also a bit harder to judge performance wise. Nendoroid Miku's are supposedly very popular, but will a Nendoroid Miku game be?
oh shit, soul calibur 5 bombed in japan? wtf happened, i missed this
The Soulcalibur series never performed very well in Japan in the first place. The new game had much less content than previous titles and many missing characters. Also, it lacked guests that actually appealed to Japan (unlike, say, the guest designed girls in SC4).
Is that their excuse? I've just tried Bravely Default demo and the girl's head appear to be normal on the screen without the need enlarge it.Just saw on the Iwata asks that Nendoroid Miku figurines are the second most popular merchandise, second to the PD series. The also talked how they ended up making her Nendoroid because regular Miku looked too small on the 3DS screen.
Market realities are looking different than they were six months back, there's some good growth opportunity with 3DS is all. Falcom probably doesn't need to support 3DS, but then they probably didn't need to support PSP either. They moved on an opportunity and it worked out for them, I'd like to see them do that again and keep growing. What light? I doubt Ys IV is going to perform considerably worse than its PSP peers. The fact they're investing in PyreEngine should tell you they're not all too interested in Nintendo hardware.
I also really doubt they'd handle any ports internally. They shipped off the Kiseki PC and Vita ports to outside the company, why would 3DS be any different?

This marks the 7th week in a row where the 3DS sells more than anything else combined hardware-wise!
Great for 3DS but great for gaming? Kinda scary isn't it?
No, but it killed Sega.PS2 was destroying everything, did it kill gaming?
Wasn't GBA up there (HW wise)? in US too...PS2 was destroying everything, did it kill gaming?
[PS3] Mobile Suit Gundam UC [Special Edition] <ACT> (Bandai Namco Games) (¥7.900)

It'd be more popular if the 3DS was region free so I could BUY IT!
Yeah well, Nintendo sucks, but will be making the big bucks.
I'll be dealing with this in the next year or so, well, whenever Medarot 3D is released. I'm hoping by then I won't have to reward them by buying a second 3DS. If that's the case I won't even bother.
Yeah well, I'm sure Sony is better...
The PS3 had a lot competition in the begining from the Wii. During the two first years, the PS3 only outsold the Wii for 4 weeks. But yeah, most of the bigger 3rd party support contunied to be made for the PS3 and Xbox 360 instead, that is true.the key difference is that while PS3 didn't have much competition, vita does.
devs where making games that just PS3 and 360 could support, leaving the Wii out of the equation.
The portable market is a whole different beast, most support will be toward the weaker nintendo system, as it have always been in the portable market.
West is a whole different story.
I could see Wii U doing rather well if it caters to both the Wii and PS3 audiences. Like 3DS seems to be doing for the DS and PSP audiences. How well was everything else selling alongside it? I'm sure there was a portable Nintendo system doing equally well.
This is a situation where 3DS is selling well, and everything else is in the gutter. Doesn't give much hope for Wii U either when the top selling console with steady new releases is only doing ho-hum.
The Vita is region-free.
As far as i know, there is no problem to import Vita games from Japan and play them on whatever region your PSN account is on. The only hassle happens if you're going to buy stuff online, since then you need to change your PSN account which requires a factory reset of the Vita console.I definitely wouldn't class the vita as region free... Not for me at least I will not dare go through that hassle for a game or 2.
I speak for me naturally. Technically I guess you could call that "region free" but thats just too much.

Lower than Days? You think it'll bomb that badly?I'm guessing yes.
Also, very high hope for KH3D from everyone. I was thinking 200K-250K first week would be great for the game already.

If you're buying retail games you have no hassle at all, right?
