The issue regarding the timing of this coinciding with the Sandy Hook gala is ill-advised. No question, but that notwithstanding...
I see alot about this "giving a platform" thing. To some extent, I get it. If an interviewer picks up some racist ding-bat in rural Alabama and let them go wild, then yeah...that's one thing.
HOWEVER, it is entirely a different matter when interviewing someone that already has influence. The whole "BUT YOU WILL GIVE ALEX JONES A PLATFORM!!!" Well, guess what, Alex Jones already has a platform that nobody paid attention to and those imbeciles got Trump elected. Alex Jones (infowars), Britbart, and to some extent Fox were able to craft a narrative that remain unchecked by the rest of us, and why it came as such a shock to us rational folk when Trump won.
Look I don't know if Megyn Kelly is the right person to be doing this interview...and yada yada, but as a general proposition.....burying your head in the sand when there are real influences at play and a refusal to acknowledge a counter-narrative that has already taken a firm grip on the country and you are asking for not only continued narrative, but also a weaker country.
