Ubisoft has been extremely uncreative and formulaic, and for that reason I think we will lose pretty much nothing by them being acquired. Maybe with the acquisition it actually start to take a bit more risk again and do something that is not Assassin's Creed or Far Cry (or a clone of them).

According to some of the posts I've read here I swear people are convinced Phil Spencer isn't even allowed to buy groceries until the Activision deal is signed or he goes to Guantanamo.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
not gonna lie, would be very interesting if Microsoft bought ubisoft since they cant even manage their own studios, have a feeling they will mess something up in the future once the Activision deal is done.

Highly doubt MS would show much interest with the SEC already looking at the ABK acquisition. It'd be just adding more wood to the political fire.

Just don’t get wasting $3.5 billion for the likes of Destiny .. whoever at Sony put that deal together need to get the boot.

Destiny 3, or the new project that Bungie is working on? On the surface they did spend a pretty penny, but to call it a waste is a bit presumptuous imo

stfu, i'm not even arguing with you anymore, and before you said anything, be honest, you're a xbox fanboy.
Are my facts and logic too much to take in? & whoa the fanboy card?
I have a Xbox Series S along with a PS4 don't have a PS5 yet & a Nintendo Switch and a Laptop and Desktop gaming PC
if that make me a Xbox fanboy then so be it

People just don't understand what Sony paid for. Sony paid for talent, I don't even like Bungie but you can't deny that they always found success in everything they attempted. How much has MS spent on 343 Industries in all these years? How much did what they did to Halo cost to MS?

Sony isn't that big when it comes to GaaS, they have Gran Turismo, MLB and that's about it. They also don't have that much of a presence in the first-person shooter market, Bungie solves both these problems for them.

Maybe if you bought them at a bargain and dumped 3/4ths of the company you could get something worthwhile out of what remained. Maybe keep the Mario + Rabbids and a consolidated Assassin's Creed team. Bring the Splinter Cell IP back with a new dev team to fill in the genre void right now. I guess you have to keep Just Dance, I think it still prints money every year.

They should buy ea, ubisoft, rockstar and cdprojectred And call it a day.

In reality it would be good to show the world and themselves they can handle and run all there new studios, before buying some more. They have alot of work to show and alot to prove

MS already said they'll continue with acquisitions after announcing the deal with ABK. So it's fair to assume they'll continue after they complete the paperwork related to the ABK acquisition and maybe after integrating all the relatively recently acquired studios into a common and synchronized workflow and roadmap.

I think they aren't open to sell (at least to MS) but I assume they may be aiming to acquire next a company or two like Valve, Epic, CD Project (these 3 specially for their PC stores), EA, Take 2, Ubisoft or Bandai Namco.

And then after that I think they'll stop acquring during some years and will focus on integrating all their teams and tweak their gaming business to monetize it in a better, more profitable way.

Just don’t get wasting $3.5 billion for the likes of Destiny .. whoever at Sony put that deal together need to get the boot.

Bungie said they are working on multiple new IPs and that plan to release at least one (so maybe release more than one) before 2025 in addition to continue supportitng Destiny 2 until at least 2024. Bungie also mentioned plans to keep growing their manpower and to bring their IPs to movies or tv shows, so selling to Sony would help them achieve it.

The previous IPs they created Halo and Destiny were super successful (not sure right now but I'd bet Destiny keeps the worldwide record of fastest selling new IP) redefining MP and FPS on console, and in the case of Destiny also the console GaaS.

So there's a lot of value, talent, expertise, knowledge, tech and data there. Specially for someone like Sony who didn't excel at GaaS, MP or FPS but frequently is very successful releasing and marketing AAA new IP and is interested on growing their teams and bringing PS IPs to cinema and tv shows. This acquistion will be profitable for Sony not only with the money they will generate directly with Bungie games, but also via movies and tv shows and with the added value/extra money Bungie will bring indirectly to future new IPs, FPS, MP and GaaS made by other Sony teams thanks to sharing their knowledge, expertise, tools or data.

With the revenue M$ makes every year, they will only stop if demanded by authorities.
They shouldn't have any issue with regulators unless they got blocked by some moron who doesn't know what is he talking about and blocks them because of potential imaginary stuff like "the metaverse" or shit like that.

Even if adding ABK on top they don't have anything close to a monopoly, they aren't even market leaders and don't have a big market share in gaming, mobile, console, PC or VR etc. so I don't see why they should have any issue with regulators.

It's a very standard boiler plate job description.

Not sure how/why VGC felt the need to write a whole ass article based on nothing.

I almost think I've seen this listing or a very similar one mentioned before. Not exactly a huge revelation, giant company has department that looks for growth opportunities. 🤷‍♂️

Everything about it screams it was a desperate move.
MS was probably buying Bungie outright and Sony’s only counter was to offer them alot of money and that Bungie can still stay independent to some extent. Whereas MS probably wanted to buy them outright

Cause the wild mood swing lol & just log out of your account and never log in again it basically
the same as being banned

The more the better.
I want to see more Sony aqusitions and more MS aqusitions. I want there to be vast difference between the gaming library of PlayStation and Xbox.
Prior to these aqusitions 98% of games were released thr same on PS and Xbox. Maybe one or two first party exclusives each year on each console.

While people are worried about consolidation, gaming is a industry where talented people can set up their own studios, and if they have some good games in the piping they will get funding from a publisher for it.
Look at Jade and Haven. Look at Kojima.
There are more Indy devs now then ever before. Those Indy devs get bigger and grow their teams if they have a good product.

EA could be a candidate
Interesting notion. They did buy Codemasters recently for $1.2B, so they have no issues with getting bigger via acquisitions. There are some similarities in how EA and Ubi view the market as well (GaaS and subs). Industries usually have a power struggle for negotiation capability e.g. retailers & manufacturers or studios & theatres. and in video games’ case platform holders vs publishers.

Damn boy... you reaction was pretty immature. But since you wanted to be banned... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Just wanted to say that, unfortunately, we don't have what we want. Things are how they are... if acquisitions between huge companies are being made, that's not going to change just because you (or me, or whoever) don't want it to happen. The best way to deal with it is to accept. Thankfully this is just a very tiny "problem" for someone's life.

Bad if Sony buys. Not bad if MS.
Not even joking. It would be terrible if Sony bought Ubisoft. They already have too many open world games and don't need no Assassin's Creed or Farcry games nor anymore inspiration from the way Ubisoft designs their games. Multiple Sony game's would've been better if they had dared to move away from the tired Ubisoft formula.

MS doesn't have any game like that, it would have a lot more value to them.

"Do we have any bids please?"

gtfo. Ubi has had to fight off hostile takeovers. stop the constant circle jerking.

OT: It seems likely they’ll be bought by venture capitalists and not a tech giant

They should sell all their studios off a la carte style.

Mario rabbids needs to continue being a franchise on nintendo, its honestly better than Xcom

Eh, let MS waste their endless money on them. Their games are too formulaic and boring for me. I can't remember that last Ubisoft game I played... I think it was the Pirate Assassins Creed at the start of last gen. After playing Elden Ring I can't even get into Horizon Forbidden West which for all intents and purposes is kind of reminiscent of an Ubisoft open world formula. They're just boring to me now.

Edit forgot about Mario v Rabbids... that was pretty fun for a game that could easily run on a mobile device.

Yves is so out of touch and just wants to chase whatever monetisation fad possible.

So any buyout that replaces him with someone who actually cares about games would be a net benefit.

That said, Ubisoft has been able to deliver entertaining games in spite of Yves's shitty money-grubbing leadership. So they'll be ok regardless.

I wonder how things will turn out if Microsoft tries to buy them right after Activision and if it'll affect the current investigation.
