Did he... Entirely miss the point of that movie?

Obviously not, but I don't think it's too farfetched to believe that there might in general be more fear of and racism towards "arabs" in the US than in most other countries.

Perhaps, but doesn't Europe have a large problem with racist chanting, in public, at sporting events? These wackos are everywhere?

Edit: meaning racism in general, not necessarily Arab only.

Dude, I live in Saudi Arabia. I've seen far worst human rights abuses and protests gone wrong than whatever you've read about on the news. I never said Americans are the worst. It is a fact that Americans have a bigger platform to state their opinions. That's all this is about. Some shitty opinions spouted by a few idiots. Just like those Christmas spoiled kids tweets. Calm yourself. You're among friends.

Yet you felt the need to make a topic about it with that title.

it should be noted that islamophobia is currently very wide-spread in Europe as well. It's basically the entire schtick of Le Pen, Geert Wilders or the British National Party, and they are pulling in the voters

wat? Have you been to Europe? As in, all the countries in Europe? especially France and the nordic countries?

wherer are you from?

Yes, I live there. Sweden. There are racists here, absolutely, but in my experience the dislike/fear of Arabs in particular isn't as pronounced and public here as it often seems to be in the US. And that's not really all that surprising, is it? We have never been the target of massive terrorist attacks like the US has, from which much of this fear obviously comes.

There are some anti-immigration people who will demonstrate, etc, yeah, but public racist chanting at sporting events? Well, maybe in some EU countries, but here I'd say that's very rare. But again, I was talking specifically about Arabs in my previous post.

Speak for yourself. Hell, a lot of the funding for some of ours came from the US.

Do these people stop watching American History X after Derek gets sentenced or what?

They stop watching at that part and fill in the rest with fanfiction.

"Derek turns racist again and and curbstomps all the black people in the world and lives happily ever after."

What a pointless moronic thread.

Yes, those people speak on behalf of what all of America thinks, believes, and feels.

Thanks for publishing their work and somehow linking it to an entire country.

Good thing 'merica' is more than a few idiots spouting hate on the internet. It's crazy that there are 'merican's' that are actually forward thinking, not racist, not assholes, and good to each other. I guess that wouldn't funny to quote though.

the 'merica' meme is really irritating

The dumbest shit I've read so far this year, congrats. You can't be serious.
Please prove me wrong without antagonizing me. The whole gun control issue comes to mind with all the nutjobs coming out of the woodworks. Alex Jones getting the spotlight recently being a prime example. It's a byproduct of free speech and an open media.

What was your objective in making this thread? You posted some dumb tweets and left it at that. You didn't even say anything. You aren't shining a spotlight on anything new.

Instead, you gave some completely random ignorant assholes some attention they didn't deserve.

I know there are "No thread whining rules," but this thread is bad and you should feel bad.

Say what? That I'm outraged? I assumed the tweets spoke for themselves but it seems I may have been mistaken. I will say though, as a Saudi Arabian who grew up in the US and faced some adversity post-9/11, it's kind of sad to see people still acting this way.

Perfect response.

I think the people who find these comments amusing are slightly more pathetic than those making them.
"Three Arabs, talking their 'bing bing' language."

Words fail me...

I couldn't disagree more with the bolded.

Imagine how Black people feel about the fact that racism still exists. I'm sorry to hear that you had to deal with that growing up, and I'm not looking to belittle the feelings you have, but everyone knows racism exists.

You're going to find all kinds of people saying dumb things on the internet (moreso than in real life). Don't even give them the time of day, they're not worth it.

Oh Alex Jones can go take a long walk off a short cliff for all I care, but honestly saying that most of the outspoken nutjobs come from the US is silly. The amount of other extremist nutjobs out there in the world stating far more ludicrous positions/opinions/arguments display that. Some countries even have these arguments and positions escalated into violence by the masses who follow them. Alex jones is crazy, but he doesn't have mobs of people outside the whitehouse throwing molotovs.

The US has it's fair share of idiots in the spotlight, but so do many many many other countries.

I get your point but I still feel it's sad that this is what people are taking away from that movie. It's kind of jarring to see a reaction such as someone wanting to kill a bunch of arabs with assault rifles if to feel just a little patriotic.

We got off on the wrong foot. My implication was simply that the US has a bigger platform people can utilize to get their voices heard, regardless of what the opinion entails. Dictatorial governments don't offer that sort of luxury. Of course the stuff Alex Jones spews pales in comparison to Ahmedinejad's feelings about Jews and Israel but that wasn't really my point.

What an incredibly patronizing post.

No one said that they were worth it. Shining a spotlight on their racism isn't a bad thing. These geniuses often suffer very real consequences for posting this nonsense.

My ethnicity is usually pretty hard to place for people (they're getting better at it now as us Ethiopians are starting to spread across the globe finally) - but people never guess that I have any Arabic in me, and rarely ever guess I am black. Maybe that's why I pretty much have never had to deal with racism.

Hope you have plenty of time on your hands to go out there and catch them all because Twitter and the internet are full of comments like that.

Regardless, there isn't really much to discuss based on the original post. "Some folks on Twitter are racist."

Every country has its own brand of nutjobs but the most vocal ones come from the US unfortunately.

"Vocal" equals a handful of morons tweeting?

A sweeping generalization like this (that the most vocal nutjobs are Americans) isn't quite as bad as the sentiment from these idiots (that all Arabs are terrorists) but you're well on your way.
