No it wasn't. Cosmicbooknews is a culture war clickbait site.

It's so erased from canon that they're filming a sequel series, Starfleet Academy right now.

DISCO might be shit, but stop believing bullshit clickbait sites trying to get your rage clicks.

Also Lower Decks is a parody show and not canon.

I wonder if Cosmicbooknews thinks this is canon now?

He has a laptop full of dirt on the Paramount execs. That's the only explanation as to why his shows keep getting made and Terry Matalas isn't running Star Trek with Legacy as the flagship show.

Doesn't change the fact that Lower Decks didn't de-canonize DISCO and that the DISCO sequel series is being filmed right now.

There is a scene in the Lower Decks finale where they're jumping across the multiverse and it just pointed out how the stupid purple DISCO Klingons existed in both the Prime and Kelvin timelines (they were shown in Kelvin movies first). But the clickbait idiot who runs Cosmicbook news took that as saying that DISCO took place in the Kelvin universe, when it clearly doesn't and they've even addressed the Kelvin universe in the third or fourth season (can't remember which one). David Cronenberg's character showed a character from DISCO a hologram of a temporal warrior from the Nemesis-era of the Kelvin timeline who crossed over to the Prime universe (where DISCO is set in the 32nd Century). He told them how the guy was from an alternate time line created by a "Romulan mining ship".

That’s certainly a reach and not what the episode intended at all. If visual inconsistency was able to make something non-canon then none of Trek is canon.

Discovery is canon (despite my wish it wasn’t) and so is Lower Decks (thank god).

That doesn't matter when you can make a sensationalist headline that will be spread all over X by engagement farmers who ignore community notes (the original post this came from that Critical Drinker shared is noted).

Isn't Star Trek one of the OG woke/DEI shows? Seems weird to celebrate this as some kind of win given the whole universe's origins.

The big difference is that OG Star Trek was written by people with talent. Nothing wrong with progressive values in a well written narrative. In fact, it should be championed whenever possible.

Disco is absolute fucking slop, written by cretins.

I agree that it sucked. Most modern Star Trek is terrible.

Didnt Discovery like every other Star Trek before it (Besides TOS and TAS) start to become better once it hit Season 3? Haven't watched it myself

For me personally it became worse. The protag was decent in some aspects in the first season and both season 1 and 2 had great captains. Afterwards it went to shit (well it became even worse).

The only decent season was 4 where they spent the entire season trying to communicate with a new alien species whose language was based on hydrocarbons.

Didn’t even watch the final season that was a sequel to the TNG episode The Chase.

S1 Disco was the best S1 Trek by miles. I know as I when back and watched childhood favorite S1 TNG, and it’s really bad. However, S1 TNG got likable characters, Disco doesn’t. As a result I’ve seen all of TNG, but feel no desire for more Disco.

Head-canon is what's saved my mental health during this new Star Wars and Star Trek era.
Yep, I'm just waiting on the AI tech to get to where it needs to be to make my head-canon... uhh... head-reality.

Lower Decks is okay but I think I'm a solid 1.5 seasons behind now. Discovery is sitting unfinished. All caught up on the fairly mediocre Strange New Worlds, did finish Picard mostly for the RLM lolz, and that Section 31 movie looks like it's going to be the worst thing yet.
