Metal Gear Solid V announced (PS360, open world)

Best game trailer of all time? Maybe

I'm popping in the MGS Collection right now. I'm too hype.

Hmm isn't Snake too young to be in this game? What year is it I'm confused now....

I just bought mgs1 and am playing it on vita. I haven't played peace walker yet. Can't wait to get to it. Hype. :-)

Also, anyone else noticed that Snake is alone when crawling out of the vehicle, despite clearly being with Ishmael moments before when the vehicle was flipping around ?

'Ishmael' is probably a hallucination.

Then how do you explain Snake's Japanese VA being the same?

Bait and switch. You play as Big Boss in Ground Zeroes (Which has been confirmed to be MGS V's tanker level). You play as this other guy in The Phantom Pain.

Regardless, I want to hear Kojima out before saying anything. It just seems out of nowhere to drop Hayter. If there isn't a legitimate storyline reason, I'm positive it has something to do with the MGS movie. Either Kojima is casting in preparation, or bad blood manifested when Hayter was working on a draft. We'll have to wait and see from Geoff's interview.

He would be like what 11-12 years old? That would be really weird.

Peace Walker takes place in 1974 and Les Enfants Terribles Projects was in 1972. If it's 9 years after Peace Walker it means that it's been like 11 years since Solid Snake was born.

The clones in this series rapidly age, right? Or was that just a device to have "Old Snake" in MGS4?

I could be wrong but by the events of Phantom Pain I think he'd be something like ten years old?

I'm going to take a guess at the story, and speculate that a young Psycho Mantis will follow Snake throughout, haunting him with visions of those he has killed in his life, thus seeing them as ghosts or in place of soldiers attacking him (such as The Boss on horseback).

This leads him to thinking of creating Zanzibarland as a way of addressing his guilt and the memories which haunt him, towards the end of the game.

He's in the passenger seat though.. and that screencap of him grabbing the wheel is from when it's flipping upside down.

just. let. go

OMG Gaf I can't believe you are not only not satisfied with gra´hics, but are only talking about them! How could we forget the games when it was not about the dithering but about this is a game that looks that I want to play? I think my gaming life was better before coming here, seriously, the devil is in the details indeed.

The trailer was breathtaking and I'll be there day one.

I really love the gameplay video, Jack Bauer is a great voice actor and looks like that section provides a nice break from the action. The music was also pretty good

Solidus would back up that idea. I don't remember off the top of my head if we ever got an explanation as to why Solidus aged more first.

Wasn't it a different technique or something? Maybe something about being cloned from a different point of his life? I just remember Solidus being the most "complete" clone.

It's never really explained, he simply accelerated at a far more rapid rate despite being the youngest of the 3. Keep in mind he also groomed himself specifically to look like old Big Boss too so the whole grey hair schtick could've been dye.

Why do you make it seem so outrageous that they just chose not to rehire him?

It was an effect caused by the Foxdie

That is incorrect. It's because he was a clone.

It's a side effect of being a clone in the MGS universe.

To be clear, they were designed that way on purpose, it's not really a side effect. Same with them being unable to have kids. If I remember correctly the idea was that if an enemy captured a clone, it would be hard for them to research/reverse engineer them because they would have relatively limited time.
