Metal Gear Solid V announced (PS360, open world)

I know someone mentioned it earlier, but people in real life have been known to grow horns made of keratin (aka the stuff comprising your nails). Could be what's coming out of Big Boss' head. Some believe the horns are caused by radiation.

I really don't think such a huge visual feature on the main character of the game would be so easily explained away. Especially in a Kojima game. It's definitely significant. The flame demon volgin had a set too

Sorry if I'm behind on this one, but has anyone figured out what "pretty delicate and taboo" issues Kojima is going to be addressing? (It's safe to assume Project Ogre is MGSV now right?)

The thing that really impressed me in the demo gameplay was the way the fabric/cloth moved. When BB is crawling on the ground his pants have folds that stretch and shrink. Also when he first tries to stand the pant cuffs move like gravity is affecting them. Not sure if all that happens because they use Marvelous Designer or if it something with the engine but it sure does look cool.

Maybe delicate = PTSD? Or something about limb loss etc? I wish we knew how significant that aspect of the game is. Seems like there's three basic sections so far: Ground Zeroes, Hospital sequence, and Diamond Dogs.

Just rewatched both the original 10 minutes Ground Zeroes trailer and the new MGSV one. Looks like the leaked info about Chico and Paz whereabouts were simply a ruse to have Big Boss out of the base during the UN inspection, while said inspection would definitely be a planned attack against Mother Base. In the original trailer Kaz even talks to Big Boss about missing the "visitors", but still being able to be back on the base on time for dinner. In the new trailer after the scene with the explosions on Mother Base you can see Big Boss arriving on a Helicopter watching from air his base being destroyed.

has any other game showed the suffering or exploitation of children? I don't know why that's so taboo in entertainment(specially gaming) when everyone but the most ignorant know children are still being exploited to this day.

but yeah, I doubt the kids are gonna be the actual bosses, though.

this game hates kids. here's a level with hundreds of child soldiers to slaughter. have fun :)

also one of the playable characters rapes children, and another one eats them

Child soldiers.
I completely agree. We already have chico who was a child soldier on Peace Walker, and Paz who was trained since she was a child as well. We have seen what looks like a young Psycho Mantis, and his presence along with Revolver Ocelot would mean that we have two members of the MGS1 Foxhound team already appearing on the game.

Sniper Wolf during MGS1 makes it known that she knew "Saladin", aka Big Boss, so she could also perfectly appear in the game and if that's the case, she would also be a kid in the timeline TPP is happening.

I would love to see young Wolf. Young Mantis has me excited enough too.

Are we sure Ground Zeroes takes place before Phantom Pain? When Snake says "Kept you waiting, huh?" I thought that was an apology for being in a coma for 9 years.

And "V has come to." sounds like it's about "Vic Boss" waking up after his long coma.

Kojima himself has said that Ground Zeroes is a prologue to Phantom Pain, and its pretty obvious from the two trailers that GZ takes place first and leads into PP.

How old would Chico be?
It shouldn't be too hard to understand apart from the supernatural goings on, shortly after Peace Walker he goes on a rescue mission to Cuba, when he flies back his base is being destroyed, he gets injured, loses his arm and when he recovers and escapes he gets a red mechanical hand.

if the hospital scene is the tutorial then shouldn't it be first? I mean, not chronologically but gameplay wise. I think we're gonna escape the hospital and THEN flashback to 9 years ago.

Also, Drag-on dragoon sounds pretty fucked up, but I don't have a ps2. ;(

Just wait for Drag-on Dragoon 3. I'm sure it'll be just as fucked up.

That would make Chico way too old.

Do you guys think this is a 2013 release?

As I mentioned earlier, I think GZ will be a 2013 release on PS360, with TPP arriving as a PS4 release (maybe a bundle with an upgraded GZ). Kojima mentioned at GDC that he's looking for people to work on MGSV, which I doubt he'd be saying if they only had a few months of work left. My guess is that GZ is about wrapped up, and TPP still has a lot of development ahead.

The weird thing for me is that for me Ground Zeroes looks better graphically than the original TPP announcement trailer, with TPP looking more like a current gen title while the quality of Ground Zeroes looks next gen, specially the wet clothes and lighting effect in the original trailer.

They're both running on Fox Engine, which supports this and next gen. I imagine it's just a matter of what they decided to show on what hardware. Maybe to throw people off from what the final platforms will be.

So this is current gen, but if it was raining it would be next gen?

I have to say, I do fear for the framerate of the console versions, but here's hoping they do a good job.

The guy that Siliconera contacted that gave them the "two games" info said TPP is definitely for PS3/360 so I doubt it. At the same time, they're not going to release the main game on PS3/360 then release GZ, the prologue, on next gen consoles as someone else suggested. Don't even know how that makes sense.

well there are no wet clothes or lightning effects in the TPP scenario shown, so it's not that weird. :)

some of you are really reaching here. both parts are running on the same engine on the same hardware with the same fidelity. there is no reason to think there are any cross-platform shenanigans going on.

Just unnecessary lensflare in TTP.

Yeah, you're right.

Anyone wonder how they'll fit this on a 360 disc? I'm curious if this will be multi-disc or not.

Someone will inevitably respond with the MGS4 10 disc image. lol

If this is truly open world and since this is also Metal Gear Solid so there will be a lot of cutscenes, I'm pretty sure there will be multiple discs for it. However I'm pretty sure it's coming out on the PS4/Durango.

How much are you willing to bet that the game will end with Big Boss waking up from his coma ? By that, I mean that the part we see of him escaping the hospital with Ishmael and everything is actually all one giant-ass dream, Vanilla Sky-like.

Nothing.
But it's not something I could totally rule out. Young Psycho Mantis, if it is he, would have to be in on the dream, though.

No one thinks it's weird that BB doesn't look much older than in MGS3? No gray hair?

I know someone mentioned it earlier, but people in real life have been known to grow horns made of keratin (aka the stuff comprising your nails). Could be what's coming out of Big Boss' head. Some believe the horns are caused by radiation.

Hmm could be that.

i hope kojipro make a pc port.
my phatps3 is dead and i aint going to buy a new one to play mgsV in lowres sub 30fps.

btw was it mentioned anywhere in the mgs arc that BB lost his arm?

That was the Konami PR guy being cagey. He said TPP is definitely PS360. Well sure, but he didn't eliminate the possibility that it would also be PS4. I'm sure Konami wants to do both.

I do. They've been working on this game for years.

The game or the engine? I know Kojima has been working on the FOX engine for quite some time, but is the game really that close to completion?

He was in his late twenties, early thirties back when MGS3 took place.

Assuming Ground Zeros/The Phantom Pain extends into the mid-late 1980s, he'd probably be somewhere in his late forties, early fifties. Some people don't gray until their sixties.
