Yes, and yes it is kind of stupid how the most important time period of BB's life is covered off screen and barely mentioned. If you played PW then you know that Zero attempts to have BB rejoin the Patriots, he of course declines.

Maybe it's just me, but when Kojima said he was closing the loop I thought he was talking about making a game set in the 80s, not overlapping a game he already made.
Kojima has been pretty good about never falling into the trap of "We have more secret Snakes runnining around!" MGS1's ending is the only time we get that revelation, in regards to Solidus and he never did it again.
I feel like Quiet's related to Sniper Wolf, an older sister or something, this game will be about the MGS1 people meeting big boss I believe, Naomi, Frank, Mantis, Liquid, Wolf etc. etc.
They all got picked up by him in the fields during the 80s.
That's what TPP is though, 1984, 9 years after Ground Zeroes.

I agree. Peace Walker really went out of it's way to ignore rather than invalidate Portable Ops and behave as though it were this direct sequel to Snake Eater rather than comment on what happened between that time period, when the elephant in the room is so much happened between MGS3 and Big Boss leaving the United States (after MPO but before PW) that was only covered through monologue in MGS4. I think this was a mistake and makes the narrative between Big Boss's games confusing.
Seeing as it's been confirmed that Big Boss loses some of his memory at the start of this game and will gradually piece his mind back together, I hope they give us some flashbacks to his time with the Patriots.

That's only possible if the remade MG and/or MG2, because a last boss being 12 year old kid would be very anticlimatic (assuming the whole game takes place in 1984).

I'm still holding out on my wishful thinking; that the final level is a HD amalgamation of MG1/2 and as SS you sneak into Outer Heaven to defeat big boss.
It's a dream, but definitely best possible way to bring the series into a full circle.
