Metal Gear Solid V: Gamescom Gameplay Demo

If you tranq a bear and wait long enough, will it eventually wake up? I want to tranq a bear, put it in a jeep, drive the jeep into an enemy compound and then wait for the bear to wake up and terrorize the enemy soldiers.

Oh, the possibilities.

so how well does Vita's remote play work outside your network? I would hate to go 8 hours without playing. If I can game at work that would be sweet.

My FOB NEEDS a bear pit..tranq invaders and toss them in.

They have a game for that, it's called Far Cry 4.

Kinda wish we could train the bear so he can be one of the line of defense at FOB.

PETA won't be happy when I kill a bear. I'll try putting C4 on a goat.

Why is Big Boss called Snake? What happened to the Big Boss title he earned from MGS3? I don't get it.

Can't tell if serious.
I've played MGS1, MGS2, MGS3, MGS4.

The only time I remember Big Boss being called Snake is prior to killing The Boss in MGS3. In all other games, he is referenced as Big Boss.

Now MGSV takes at a much later place than MGS3. But why isn't he called Big Boss?

He's called Snake a lot in Peace Walker as well. Although he acknowledges the name Big Boss I don't think he'll fully accept it until the end of MGSV

People close to him only call him snake. However, Kaz for instance in front of the troops addresses him as "Boss" in a private setting he usually goes by snake. He's known throughout the world as Big Boss tho.

That vid was awesome ...
but i'm confused by some comments . like you can accept someone capable to adjust her weight at will ( quiet ) but fulton wormholes are too much ? more than the stuff MGS already did in the past ?

I'm so fine with it.
The best way to balance it would for it to use a ton of money so it wouldn't be abused and only used in the best situations.

Loving the playabale soldiers with their own stats and perks .will make hunting for the best soldiers even sweeter.

in PW, Naked Snake didn't feel like he earned it because it was ill-gotten due to the political machinations of the American government in MGS3. He later embraces it, but Miller knows him as Snake, so depending on who's talking to BB, they'll use different names.

I was just thinking how it seems easier to leave the missions on foot, but then I thought how there will be LZs closer to where you are that could be clear of enemies.

I though PW's story was actually decent but it was way too stretched out. The final confrontation with Peace Walker is one of the better Metal Gear moments, personally. Great tension . Gameplay-wise, it felt flat and gutted when having just played MGS3 before it.

Holy shit D-Walker can use a machete?! That's fucking awesome.

All this info, my lord I can't even deal with it.
The next three weeks are going to be so hard.

Update: Pulled the trigger on a gtx 960 ftw edition! Best buy price matched newegg at $195 and MGSV with purchase. I'm pumped.

Now I just have to figure out how to acquire the nvidia "gift" of the game. Probably register the video card?

I remember getting the codes attached, or inside the graphics card box. But that was an AMD card, so I'm not sure if it would differ.

Having a quick look at the Nvidia site it seems like it should come with a code that you can redeem on their website.

It would be cool if an invasion distress call automatically creates a chat lobby to allow allies to join in and discuss who's the best person to respond to an invasion.

"I'm in tip top condition today, I'll deal with that asshole invading our brosis."

"lol, even half asleep I'm better than you."

The MGS have always had some supernatural elements so Quiet doesn't feel out of place. It's the technology available in the game that's a bit silly. The technology has just gotten crazier and crazier over the course of the series without any respect to the time period. MGS1 did feel fairly grounded as far as technology went.

Some of the stuff in Peace Walker (mechas!) already seemed more advanced than what was available in MGS1-4 but MGSV takes it to a whole new level with teleportation and wormholes and shit you'd expect to find in a science fiction universe placed 100+ years in the future.

I'm sure it's going to be fun but it feels silly.

Maaaan I got the runaround. Bought the card in-store and the guy said that registering the card with Nvidia should work and prompt a redemption code. Problem is, for whatever reason, of all the cards to register with Nvidia, the GTX 960 wasn't an option.

So I did an online support chat with Nvidia who said that it was up to Best Buy since they weren't a promotional partner (wut?). So I called Best Buy and talked a whole lot of people who had know idea what I was talking about. One woman tried to say that I couldn't be helped unless I bought Geek Squad protection. I tried to explain that the there was know problems with the part, I just needed a download code. Long story short, I talked to about 6 different people over about 45 minutes and eventually talked to someone who said I'll receive a redemption code in an email within the next 24 hours.

I'm willing to bet that there is a logical explanation for this built-in the game.

I mean to this day , manipulating the weather is freaking hard and impossible in most cases, yet that seems an option here.

So i guess they are willing to go all out to make it the most immersive gameplay possible.

Then the bear gets the GMP :(

So it seems like invading a base and killing the soldiers their causes your 'Heroism' to plummet.

Makes sense. Maybe your own soldiers see you as a cold hearted bastard.

Glad to hear it. When I got my graphics card a few years back it came with two redemption codes for every game, so I guess someone else has to be unlucky, haha.

But then everyone spends so much time posturing that the enemy gets the goods, ha!

The bear would just drive the jeep away.

That intruder was no joke.

I'd hate to run into intelligent enemies like that too often.

I can imagine players whose main goals are to invade bases and try to steal all your hard earned shit. Gonna be crazy lol

Can't wait

I hope that it doesn't just turn into a shootout every time.

Considering how good the shooting mechanics are -- I'm hoping that's it not to easy just to snipe the opponent and be done with it, the players in that demo had ample time just to kill the enemy, but were more creative in their takedowns (probably just to show off the new mechanics).

I hope that the demo will be representative of the games community a few weeks from now.

The real time meters are basically turning this game into "time management" the game.
Since you can manage mother base while out on a mission you constantly need to think about what you're going to research at the base, every second not researching/constructing is a waste since the resource is the players time.
You can't even relax when out on a mission.

Yes you can, I didn't worry about the operations when I was playing Dragon Age Inquistion. I just played and was like "Oh...that's done....neat!"

I have to say I'm still a little nervous with everything. The Kojima/Konami stuff, the "Clash of Gears" time stuff, the apparently HUGE scope... Can it be pulled off? I hope so but I'll have to see it to believe it.
