Metal Gear Solid V: Gamescom Gameplay Demo

It wasn't shown until 11 months ago. But I think I know the 'leak' you're talking about and that mansion definitely isn't in Bosnia.

Haha, yeah that one. Some of it sounds coherent but the
city raid / royals
part was stupid sounding so hopefully it's fake.

I don't know why people put so much effort into showing off their fake shit. Yeesh, do something productive.

BTW, the review embargoes for MGSV are apparently set for this Sunday.

Someone else said the review play event is set for this weekend. I highly doubt they will have an embargo end as people are still playing it.

"Enter the code under the cap of your Pepsi product for an exclusive in-game Pepsi skin for the cardboard box"

joking

You joke but...

Interesting, not sure if this was known but apparently the review event is only 4 days long (something like Watch Dogs had 8 days for comparison). Reviewers can't keep their saves, seems a feeling of not being able to see most of what the game has to offer is concerning, at least from someone I talk to. Using the 2-day May preview event as a frame of reference, some journos didn't get past 10% completion lol.

Review event is from the 18th to 21st.

I wonder if reviewers will be able to experience FOB.

4 days review event is a bit worrying though...considering how big the game is.

Ugh, Metal Gear has always been filled with sudden bizarre plot twists that are probably super easy to get spoiled on...

Life just hasn't been the same since some gaming side cunt PM'ed me a laundry list of Bioshock Infinite spoilers on the second day of release :/

That is dope as hell that Yae Yong gets to go to the MGSV revview event. That guy earned every right to be there. Proud of that guy.

Yep i'm happy for him but i think an even greater accomplishment is that Kojima himself follows him on twitter and retweets ever Metal Gear releated tweet of him, considering Kojima only follows a handful of people, let alone retweets them that is pretty awesome.

I was burned on gametrailers when an xbox fan spoiled who the killer was for heavy rain 2 days before the game was released, that hurt a lot. I still played the game but still, I will not let anyone spoil a game like that for me again, even if it means unplugging from the internet until the end of September

RE: Journo stuff.

There's been a few (?) review/preview events lately. Journos were/are given X time to play the game and I guess write whatever they want based on how much they experienced. Embargo drops soon. I don't know if you'll see journos who've finished it throwing out reviews or just previews. Hypothetically if I had attended I wouldn't be writing a review.

EDIT: Also, thumb rule with stuff like this, if you want to avoid spoilers from a popular, narrative heavy game you really need to start limiting what sites you go to and what content you read. I mean, if you really don't want to be spoiled and are already sold on the game, maybe don't comb over a hundred fucking reviews/previews as they pop up as you have absolutely no way of knowing what content will be included in them. Same goes for forums. As people start getting the game early (which they inevitably will) maybe don't go reading the comments section of your favourite website, or highlighting those black bars because it couldn't totally be a big spoiler. There's only two weeks to go. If you really, truly don't want to be spoiled exhibit some self control.

Gotta get dem clicks, doe.

Smart of them to invite YongYea. You'll want his signature on an NDA when details start to appear leading up to release.

It's all part of the plan the Boss envisioned

Boss = Kojima.

Yeah, I'm sure a number of outlets opted out of the event, as they can be kinda scummy. Given the isolated and controlled environment they're in. We should expect to see some sites post their reviews sometime after.

I am really curious about review scores but not really interested in review content though....

Unless this game just craters review wise I'm not really concerned with it. I think many fans of the series just know what they are getting and want to complete the saga

I'm anxious to hear in what ways it's disappointing. I need something to temper my hype.

If anything I'm anticipating "repetitive mission objectives" based on previews and extrapolating the variety in Ground Zeroes to a 100 hour game.

True that. I dunno. I just can't legitimately "review" a game in a controlled environment, even if I finish it.

We attended (and by we, I don't mean me), but we're going for a "first few hours" preview instead of a review.

Take it all in guys. This is the last time the MGS community will rally around an MGS game. Enjoy the led up and eventual release. It's going to be fun.

He probably has them on a timer to post each night. I'm sure he has made these videos in advanced

Oh yeah, I forgot he probably already has prepared them in advance. His retrospectives are pretty cool, first thing I see after waking up everyday.

This pretty much. I've limited myself to mostly here till I get my copy in hand.

Exactky where I am at. Right now in my mind this game is rainbows and unicorns, it's perfect. It can't be perfect, I need to hear what's wrong with it to be ready for it.

Since it is a group thing I assume the base invasion stuff will be between them. Probably very small scale. Wonder how that will play out in reviews. I bet many will withhold scores for a while.

I'm staying well the fuck away from any reviews. I was stunned to see how many major, professional, should-fucking-know-better reviewers spoiled a certain delightful twist in Batman Arkham Knight right in their reviews. They seem to have this attitude that if it's revealed in the first few hours it's fair game, which is madness to me.

Time to binge on Netflix and plough through my backlog for the next couple of weeks, I think.

With reviews I just stay on GAF and only look at the review scores. If I need impressions, I hang around the community and review threads that typically have users that played it.

I never actually read reviews. Can't trust even professionals these days not to spoil something.

I can see the game being pretty divisive as far as review scores go. You have to imagine that most reviewers won't have played Peace Walker, and anyone going into this game expecting another MGS1-4 style experience is going to have a rude awakening. I can just imagine the Jeff Gerstmanns of the world ignoring Mother Base in the early going and then blaming the game when it comes back to bite them later on.

Why you gotta call Jeff out like that?

The way I look at it is, this game has been what Kojima has been wanting to make for years, he originally wanted MGS2 to go to Afghanistan, he originally wanted MGS3 to be fully open world.
MGS4 was originally also going to be open world with battlefields all over the place to travel through.

Peace Walker and PO set the foundation for the army building mechanics, Big Boss is not Solid Snake, we've known for 20 years Big Boss used funds collected from being a mercenary to establish Outer Heaven, so with that it would make no sense for a big portion of his story to not include the building of Outer Heaven.

So while some people miss the old style of MGS games I have faith that TPP is what Kojima has been trying to make for a long time and that it will be good, even if it's a different game to what we expect.
