Which one was that?
In other news, I've played through almost all of the game and updated my comments on reflections: http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/gu...gear-solid-v-the-phantom-pain-post-processing
TLDR: Very few uses, lower quality than in Ground Zeroes, barely affected by Post Processing or any other setting, always enabled.
On a gtx 670 and i7 2700k am I going to see significant difference from the ps4 version in shadows and draw distances?
I went with ps4 because of this but I'm thinking about buying both versions.
I'm running a gtx 970 and the latest i5 processor with 8GB ram and am just running the default settings.
It looks great just like that, but should I run it higher? Seems like most settings are on very high already.
OK, when I get home from work in will look into it. I'm still new to computers o I'm still getting used to changing settings to get the most out of my games. So many years of just accepting whatever a console gives is hard to break.Put it all up to very high and use hbao+ from the nvidia control panel. Read teh geforce guide in the op how to set up hbao+, it is very easy.

You will not regret it, it looks great.

The cutscene directly after rescuing Code Talker from the helicopter crash and fighting the skulls. Happens every time I had HBAO+ enabled. A few other times it happened but not for such an extreme length like that scene. Off the top of my head, in the prologue when Ishmael drags Snake under the hospital bed and then the opening scene of the first mission in Africa when snake steps in mud.
I tested the one major scene with various setting changes but it only ever happened with HBAO+ enabled.
I7 920 @4.1
970 @ 1450 core, +495 mem
I can give more details when home if needed.

How does the water look at max settings in the PC version?
Because in the PS4 version, everything looks nice except the water.
The water honestly looks like last gen. Probably even worse than the ocean in GTA5 PS3 version.

So i'm in doubt - 1080p with max setting (hbao+ maybe) or downsampling from 1440p (or slightly lower) with some settings on high (Effects is VERY taxing)?
PS - my rig gtx 970 (shiny new) + i5-3570
Water looks bad
TBH, GTAV water looks fantastic even then.
I am experiencing repeated crashes, to the point where I can no longer seem to continue the game. Is there a way to disable the modded settings?
Changed to high only settings and seems to have fixed it for now.
Which settings exactly does the mod affect? Seems like it shouldn't affect Textures and stuff, right?5
You can always verify the game data on steam and it will just redownload everything you have modified.
I can't for the life of me figure out what's going on. In certain areas, such as the mansion in Africa, my FPS hovers around 52-54 when looking at the mansion.
And it hovers around that FPS no matter the resolution I set the game at (1080p, 1440p or 1800p). I also get weird stutters everytime I land from the helicopter and occasionally when I fulton soldiers.
GTX 980ti
16 GB RAM
3570k
Any help would be appreciated.
I wonder if the game is VERY CPU reliant. I have similar drops with a 980 and a 4790k@4ghz and yet my GPU never goes above 75% and I get weird frame drops. I can't imagine it's that CPU dependent from a cross platform game?I can't for the life of me figure out what's going on. Just imagine if this game had Black Flag quality water!

Same thing happened to me in that cutscene yesterday, i have a similar rig and i also have HBAO+.The cutscene directly after rescuing Code Talker from the helicopter crash and fighting the skulls. At least i'm glad it's normal.
GPU : 970 @ 1392
RAM : 16G
CPU : e1231v3 @3.4/8
Ambient Occlusion Off (HBAO+ enabled via NVCP) everything else MAX
1080p : Rock solid 60fps, 0 drops
1.0x DSR (1440p i think) : Regular drops to 50-55fps
2.0x DSR (1527p i think) : Sub 50fps (around 48-50)
I really like DSR but my system can't cope with everything maxed out whilst using it, so I've opted for 1080p![]()

Echoing pahamrick, exact same situation for me. Three instances of cutscene frame drops.
1. Prologue, Ishmael pulling Ahab under the bed. Briefly tanks framerate for the short cut.
2. First arrival in Africa, as Venom jumps out of the chopper and lands in the mud, again very brief.
3. Codetalker scene, aforementioned. Like...1fps. This one is weird though, as the moment the vista from the helicopter windows goes out of frame, like a close up of Codetalker's face, the framerate improves significantly. Same goes if you zoom in for a close up shot.
Beta 1.005 has been released.
Changelist:
- Save Data is backed up now.
When the save data can't be read from Steam Cloud, the backup save data will be now used.
It would not surprise me if it has to do with the game having multiple viewports during these scenes. I have yet to get there though.
I know this is OT, but WHAT THE FUCK? Lost my download the second time around just now. Started from scratch after downloading 17 GB. Insanity!
Managed to recover about 10 GB of it, but what in the absolute shit is wrong with Steam? Not a great first impression at all.
I'm doing 60 fps with my 970 at 1440p with HBAO+, Effects on high, Shadows on high and Post-Processing (a real performance hog) on high. Everything else on very high I think.
My CPU is slightly worse too.
Yeah, this shit's been bugging me for a while now with bigger releases. They need to fix this. So far I'd suggest turning off auto updates for the game while you're still downloading, this way you can pause and resume the download. Unfortunately Steam will still check for updates and reset the progress if you exit it completely (had this happen to me this morning... thanks Windows auto updating). Fortunately I was able to recover 14GB, it's something. Doesn't really help that MGSV uses HUGE archive files that you'll have to download from scratch if it wasn't 100% finished before the "incident" occurs.I know this is OT, but WHAT THE FUCK? I too get this problem on a 4790k and a GTX 980. Opening prologue mission at 1440p i get around 40 fps even though CPU usage is hovering at 30% and gpu usage at around 70%. Any chance you did the unlock framerate config change? I did it and getting this strange performance
Regarding save data for "METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN" becoming corrupt under specific circumstances.
In "METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN" which was released on September 1st 2015, there is a possibility that save data may get corrupted and becomes unusable if having Quiet as a buddy while playing "Mission 29" or "Mission 42". This situation can be avoided by not using Quiet as a buddy while playing either "Mission 29" or "Mission 42".
