I think Metaphor is the most lenient of all "Persona-likes" when it comes to time management. At least, it always felt to me that I had more than enough time for the shit I need to do. I remember being much more stressed out about that in P3, P4 and even P5.

There are lot more days padded in, I think, for stuff you might have missed. I got stressed about some cooking stuff I had missed but wasn't an issue by the end of it all. Had plenty of time and got the platinum.

I bought it because somebody recommended it to me in the Clair Obscur thread as a good substitute after Expedition 33, but so far it's a drag to play and everything but a great game after COE33.

Eh.....good substitute for what? If you were looking for more games like E33 then this was the wrong game.

It's an ATLUS jrpgs. It automatically gets high praise no matter how it is. You should know that by now. A lot of jrpgs are absolute trash and get free passes. Some are great like P5 but I've yet to play anything close to its overall quality. Metaphor wasnt it.

That just means other people liked it more than you. I thought it was great. Doesn't mean I expect everyone else to like it. One man's "trash" etc etc

Depends what your expectations are.

I'd personally go with SMTV. That's the best Atlus game since Persona 5,

If you're strictly between this or P3, I would say this has better pacing and starts off great, but P3 while a slower burn when it picks up trumps this in most categories.

If you just want an epic story like E33 perhaps Nier Automata or 13 sentinels aegis rim.

I loved it but I played it at launch, not sure how I would react to it after E33.

Well, maybe part of how I played also significantly helped that. I usually could finish dungeons in one run by just switching to Mage, farming MP on lower level enemies and then use that replenished MP for healing my party up and fighting tougher enemies (thereby leveling up my party) and repeating this until every enemy below yellow. And then continue to finish the dungeon.

It's basically grinding, in a way, but the combat system was fast and fluid enough to not feel like it's a drag.

yeah, im in a "gaming limbo" right now, looking at some Atlus games or thinking about returning to Trails of Daybreak, but when i remember all anime tropes i just give up.

i would play KCD2 if i had the money to buy it right now, but have to wait till next month.

If you have gamepass then you can play Persona 3 Reload without having to buy it outright.

I'd also say if a mature story is something you need but need an older title to jump into in the mean time you could look at days gone remaster/pc version.

I will say oblivion is my favorite Bethesda game so it may win you over too.

I gave Oblivion a try, but I don't know what it is, I just can't finish Bethesda games. I've got over 150 hours in Skyrim and still never finished it, lol. I usually lose interest when a game is too open-world. Same thing happens with GTA games, i just end up getting caught up in side quests, and then I forget where I was in the main story. After that, I kind of lose the motivation to keep going.

I have the same issue and managed to platinum oblivion remastered in 70 hours.

If you follow the trophy guide it's the best way to experience the game honestly.

Do main story till you beat the first oblivion gate in kvatch
Do mages/fighters guild story quests
Then do thieves guild
Then dark brother hood
Now finish the main story

You'll do other side quests here and there as is natural but if you make the above your "goal" you'll see the vast majority of what the game has to offer, and come away satisfied. At least I was.

So I'm replaying it on PS5 and in the meantime trying to get into something else.

Metaphor has much less anime tropes than persona games. SMT5 has great combat system but there is almost zero story...

i was playing on PS5 too, but i think this thing is dirty cause my console is just turning off by itself, ll drop it tomorrow at my tech for some cleaning and see if fix it.

Man, I consider myself slow and deliberate when it comes to RPGs, and I never felt stressed out in P4. I'm still working through P5, but I just don't see stress under time constraints happening.

Actually I was looking for some great RPG experience like E33. But I agree, Metaphor Refantazio was the wrong game for me.

Now I'm playing The Witcher 3. I've never played it before, it has its 10th birthday, think that's the right time to tackle this one. And even though I don't like the medieval settings in general, it looks like this game is miles better than Metaphor.

I'd agree, I was also considering getting the platinum in Nier Automata after E33. But I guess that has to wait until I'm finished with TW3 now.
