Metroid Prime 2 difficulty

Ok, it's been a while since I played Metroid Prime but I do remember that I had relatively no problem with the difficulty in that game until about 2/3's through it.

Anyway, I'm finding Metroid Prime 2 to be a much more challenging game. Not to mention physically draining (my left index finger gets quite sore holding down the left trigger--a necessity for most boss fights). I don't remember my finger becoming sore playing Metroid Prime.... did they make a change in the lock on mechanic between the games?

Oh and I've died 3 times already, something that rarely occured in the first titles.

It's not that difficult. A few of the bosses can be a hassle
damn you Spider Guardian!!
, but it's only slightly more difficult than prime.

It is definitely harder than the first game, but I really liked the normal difficulty on it.

Hard mode is not really that much harder than normal, I had some problems on the next-to-last boss, but other than that it felt incremental.

I would say the normal difficulty on MP2 is fairly close to the hard difficulty of MP. Some may disagree, but that's what it reminded me of.

Echoes is definitely harder than the original, but not by much. There are only a few bosses that are difficult enough to impede one's progress.

Did anyone else have problem with their finger on the lock on shoulder button getting sore? That's my main problem now and it's almost enough to prevent me from playing it.

nah. no soreness really. sad part is that this is still unbeaten for me, because of the shit hunt at the end. god i hope they get ride of that in the next one.

I agree. My finger never got sore while fighting a boss but the lock-on system does cause more problems in Echoes. It worked much better during Prime's boss fights.

I don't remember anything like that happening with me. I've replayed Prime and Prime 2 multiple times, and never had that happen that I can think of.

I bought this game when it dropped to $20, let it sit on my shelf, loaned it to a friend, got it back, and have yet to even fire it up to the title screen. And yet Metroid Prime is probably my favorite game. The hell happened?

Heh, I do that all the time Ted.... I still haven't taken God of War, for instance, out of it's shrinkwrap.

OMG!!!!! you need to play God of War... I cant stress that enough HURRY!!!!!

I stopped playing about 1/4 through the game since it got boring. I've played Prime I and had a blast. From what I played it was definitely harder than Prime.

Here's hoping Retro take some suggestions and polished it up to Prime production value in Prime 3.

you lost the faith

I breezed through most of Prime, but I found Echoes to be quite difficult as well. I thought the final boss was much easier in Echoes however.

The enemies were annoying in this game. The first one, only the space pirates had insanely large amounts of health, in this one EVERY FUCKING ENEMY has to get shot 10+ times to die, and the Space Pirates have even MORE health. Jesus.

game was great I regret that I sold it, I'll probably buy it again.

and yes Echoes is much harder than Prime. Boost Gardian is one cruel bastard specially on hard.

Just wait til you get to the part where you fight the final boss.
The ING Leader has 3 forms. The 3rd one is a b****! <~~~~~ about 35 mins to kill it.

Yeah, this was a big part of why I didn't like MPrime2 as much as MPrime1. It wouldn't say 2 was harder , just more tedious :\

I had a similar experience, but that's just the nature of adventure games, I think. They're mostly a one-time deal. I loved Banjo Kazooie but felt absolutely no need to play Banjo Tooie. I loved Mario 64 but was not compelled by Sunshine. Even Majora's Mask felt like too daunting of an undertaking for me (don't yell at me).

Yeah Ted, turn in your gamer card and Metroid jacket. You're OUT of the club.

To be fair, the first game I fired up on my new HD set was Metroid Prime. And you know what, I thought it still looked great. What was meant to be a brief test wound up with me playing the game for two hours. I think the reviews on Prime 2 from people who loved the original Prime as much as myself kind of turned me off on it. Why taint my love for the original by playing a lesser game?

that's exactly what happened to me.

metroid prime is probally my favorite game this generation on the consoles.

i've vowed to myself that i will play metroid prime 2 before the graphics start to look heavily outdated.

You probably need the Revolution MP3 to get back into Metroid, which is more than likely going to look stunning.

For me, Prime 1 was more difficult than 2... I died a lot of time in 1, in 2... not so much...

Some of the spider ball sections were prime 2 were probably trickier than all of prime 1 put together.

I thought that Prime 2 was a bit to complex.
While I had enough free time to run through Metroid Prime I was a bit occupied with other things while I got Prime 2. I stopped playing the game while fighting against Chykka (the flying insect).

I always had to check a walkthrough when going back to Metroid Prime 2 after a few weeks because I lost the orientation. Too many doors with different ways to open them, to much backtracking, to many switches between the light and dark world. Really confusing and no pick up and play stuff. I think that Prime 1 was much more linear compared to Prime 2.

Yes, my right hand index finger didn't like prime. I'm not even going to bother with echoes because I bought prime with reservations and it was kind of a letdown.

The only difficulty I had is motivating myself for the end game back track/collect a-thon at the end of the game. I had to do it in Metroid Prime, and I just quit at the end of Echoes. I don't see why it's necessary to go back through all of the environments and search for these things. Retro did it in both Metroid Prime's too. But overall, the addition of the Screw Attack alone made Echoes worth it.
