Metroid Prime 4: Beyond | Review Thread

A 32 from Famitsu is basically a 5 out of 10 at best…

Oh, it's one of those months when Famitsu scores are legit.
Spoiler: Japan never liked Metroid that much.

It's funny how Atreus didn't prevent Ragnarok from getting an aggregate 94, but suddenly when Metroid has chatty companions, it's a disaster.
In general, it's always hilarious how AAA tropes and standards are never reason to blast an important IP in its twentieth or so iteration (hello, Assassin's Creed), but when Nintendo takes a page from Ubisoft or Sony, all of that suddenly becomes the worst slop on the market.

90% of the game is no talking
10% talking is way too much for most games IMO, for Metroid is a deal breaker.

Nice comparison, Switch 1 version looks nice also but Switch 2 version takes the win of course.

Seems like geometry/detail is the exact same on Switch 1. The only difference is resolution/texture quality. Meaning the base platform the game is made for is not really the Switch 2.

Its well known.

Which is why I would consider giving it some slack in gameplay department, why it looks so similar to MP3.

You can almost touch the denial on this thread, lmao. I actually like this result a lot. Being this low and not developed by epd, the likelihood of getting deep discounts is high. But, since Nintendo does things in their own pace, I see then fixing the most glaring issues in a patch two years from now. Patience pays off!

ah okay so you just want a reskin of those, maybe they should make it an annual series and call it Modern Metroidfare
Lol, not wanting a Metroid game to become another mainstream modern western game with quirky NPCs chatter, hand holding and a massive open world map means i want every Metroid to be a reskin of Prime 1 and Super?

So let's make Metroid (and any other game) a reskin of the standard open world slop like the above. Maybe they should make it an annual series and call it Modern Openworld handholding Metroidfare.

"Chatter" was never the problem. The question is whether it's good or enjoyable "chatter". When someone copies from someone else and does it poorly, that deserves to be called out. It doesn't mean the inspiration was bad.

This score was honestly expected from the way Nintendo marketed this game, it's like they knew that the changes to the Prime formula would not be warmly received by the fanbase at large and thus they decided to not really push the game as much as one might have thought.

I have my preorder and my amiibos. Hopefully it is a good time.

The fact that one Amiibo unlocks a cut-scene is diabolical. Murder whoever proposed and implemented that.

I think the disappointing thing coming out of most reviews is that Anything the game is doing that is new is kind of average at best.

feels like a very safe sequel. at least its smooth, runs well and plays well which is more than you can say about 99% of AAA games released these days.

who says its average? every seems to agree the game is great but things other than actual gameplay like the music could be better.

It's being very selective in which reviews they listen too. But the game is far from the mess some are stating/trolling on here.

So, aside from the $70 game you have to expend another $ 75 - $ 90 to unlock some boosters for your game.

Soft p2w implementation

Also, as far as i know the cutscene ll be unlocked for everyone that 100% the game.

Hearing from multiple reviewers that the forge is a 10/10 Metroid prime level and perhaps even the best level in the series, simply means I cannot skip this. There's some lows in the game but when you get into the depths of the dungeons, there's no chatter, its pure raw metroid prime and even IGN reviewer (in the kinda funny podcast) said that those parts made him think its some of the best metroid prime series content he's played, its just dragged down by the open world. But the highs very much overshadow the lows.
