haven't been on the scene that much lately but anyone know/ have speculations on whether MGS3 will appear on the xbox anytime soon?

With the way MGS2: Substance bombed on the XBOX, I doubt it.

I don’t think that’s true, I recall seeing some solid 100k+ sales figures on this forum.

Not that bad for a port if you ask me, I also doubt we will hear any news on any ports until the PAL launch in March.

i think it will, wont be announced until after the PAL release though, i bet.

which is.. 03.03.05: Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (PS2)

Don't worry too much, you'll have Chaos Theory to play.

Doubt it. The XBOX port of MGS2 was part of a pledge made by Konami during the early XBOX days. The port really didn't turn out very good either...

We'll see, though.

Yeah hopefully I can actually finish Chaos Theory and not do a game kill to me like Warrior Within. UBI Soft quality control is garbage their games are always so buggy.

Anyway, would be cool to see MGS3: Substance style package for Xbox. I'd pick it up!

MGS2S actually ended up selling quite a bit afaik. 150-250k or something like that. (xbox ver). Of course most of that was at like $20 or less. I paid $50 for it when it came out and I'm happy. Only bad part of the xbox ver is slowdown during the tanker rain. That's it.

I don't have my PS2. When my buddy was visiting, they wouldn't let him bring it on the plane. I want to play this game so very badly. Ergh! I've resisted spoilers, somehow.

If there's one thing that Substance and The Twin Snakes has taught us, it's that this series should not be played with any controller other than the Dual Shock 2. But for someone not to have a ps2 at this point in time is just sad. There's no excuse other than being a blind fanboi. Console bias would not have been in Martin Luther King Jr's. dream.

No kidding. I just tried Twin Snakes out again with the regular cube controller (testing out a VGA transcoder), and it was just disaster every way you look at it. The PS2->GC adapter is just crucial (even if square/X are reversed) to playing the game properly.

I felt the same way I wanted Mgs3 so bad but I had such a backlog of unplayed xbox/gc games that I didn't want to buy a ps2. I snapped about two weeks ago and picked up a Ps2 along with Mgs3, It was worth every penny.

Serafitia,
it's not that i have console bias at all, far from it. i just find that i save so much more money with only one console to supply games for. i've been fortunate enough that a few games initally only released for other systems, have been released on xbox as well (eg substance, gta vice...etc.)
though i have been quite tempted to pick up a ps2 slim.

hurm. As long as you know you're missing out. There's only oney thing that bites about it. I have a large backlog, but I've recently been playing a lot, so it blalances out eventually.

The Nurse Who Loved You
? Perfect Circle or Failure fan? The later is better.

I doubt you'll see it on Xbox before Xbox 2 is out, so I'd take someone's recommendation towards renting a PS2 and it for a week when you'll have a lot of free time and playing through it. Its definately the best Metal Gear, I'd say the best console game of '04 by a wide margin.

Bombed? Average quality port that sold ~200 000 copies in US and probably close to 300k worldwide is a bomb? I would guess Konami made nice profits from this "bomb".

It was voted GotY here, so some people must have

If it did see an Xbox release you probably will too. :)

I was talking about the story, i didnt like the story for MGS2 but i enjoyed the gameplay etc.

i know it'll never happen, but i'm hoping beyond hope that MGS3 gets ported to the GC so i don't have to buy a PS2 just for it.

I like the storyline :)

So do the other MGS fans.

Then I know why the game underperformed so badly!

Seriously though, after the mess that was the xbox MGS2:Substance, why even care? They'll do a half-assed port that will run like a poorer version of the ps2 one. I doubt you're ever going to see a decent version of a MGS game outside of the Playstation lineup.

if anything, everything else (PC, Xbox, GCN ((possibly)) will get the "updated" Snake Eater Substance version next time around.

I don't know how I've survived without a PS2 this long. :lol

I was so happy when MGS2: Substance came to the Xbox, so quite naturally, I'm hoping the same for MGS3.

I'll probably just get a PS2, since RE4 is coming to it. Two birds, one stone.
