MGSV for PC officially confirmed

That's pretty awesome.

I'm not even that interested in the game, but the more Japanese devs we get on PC, the better. And I've never really played a MGS game so I might check it out eventually.

Fill me in guys, will it be worth it to buy both Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain?

Ground Zeroes is worth maybe $5 or $10. Fun and a lot of replay value, but it is quite limited.

For Phantom Pain, play the other games first, though.

RELEASE ORDER

The more the merrier! Glad that PC gamers also get to check this great title. Looking forward to seeing what crazy mods will be created when the game releases..lol

Man PC gamers are in treat for this gen. Developers have finally realized that they can't ignore the community and Steam is the ultimate platform for PC gaming.

I was SO close to buying a PS4 just to play this game when I have a PC that could've maxed the game out.

I'm so happy about this announcement it's insane.
I need to make a physical box to shelve even though I'll have the PC version just for the sake of it being physically in my collection next to GZ.

It seems you'll be able to use japanese voices, at least on Ground Zeroes.

There were always hints that MGSV might come to PC, but didn't expect to occur so early.
How long is Ground Zeroes? Need to start planning.

Same here. Though a friend says he'd let me borrow his PS3 copy.

If that's your last resort, then yes, you must play the others before MGSV.

I mean you don't HAVE to do anything, but it's recommended.

Ground Zeroes can be beaten in under 10 minutes, and even on first playthrough it might take you an hour or two. It has extra missions and stuff to do. Pretty fun. Would recommend waiting for a sale.

Daaamn! :O

I have a ps4 now anyways but this is great news. Now put perfect ports of MGS1/2/3 on steam please.

I'm going to get some stick for this, but the older games haven't aged too well at all.
That control scheme. Calling it terrible would be almost complementary.

People moan about remasters, but I would buy Metal Gear Solid 1-4 remastered in the Fox Engine in a heartbeat - for twice the RRP if I had to.

I'm the guy that wishes Resident Evil still had tank controls so I think I'll be alright.

It ranges. I can beat the game in about 5 minutes because I've played it countless times. Your first play through of the main mission will take about 45 minutes to an hour or more. But that's not including the side ops to beat too.

I've clocked in 40-50 hours so far. Speedruns, challenges, whatnot.

Main mission can be done in around 20 minutes if you aren't rushing (about 5-6 min if you are). There are side ops and other things to explore as well. My total playthrough ended up being 7-8 hours (and I didn't get S-Rank on most of the missions). Since it is sandbox you can also just mess around.

I am so happy about this. This lets me put off buying a PS4 for a while longer and still enjoy the premium MGS5 experience.

Thanks for listening, Kojima/Konami - I bought a new PC earlier this year primarily to play the PC version of Rising.

So far the only Metal Gear game I've played is Rising, which I adored, but I mean that doesn't count really. Kind of sadly because I want more of Rising.

Definitely play in release order. Skip MG and MG2 and go straight to MGS (1998). MG2 is really good though.

Makes me think of the possibilities for a MGS3 full remake in the Fox engine.

Open world with MGSV mechanics, would be something else.

MGS1 and 2 would mostly just benefit from the fidelity, but MGS3's design fits perfectly into an open world.

Grounds Zeroes is a way of introducing the new mechanics that The Phantom Pain will utilize. Think of it as a playground to wet the appetite while we wait for the full game release.

You can honestly just watch a YouTube video of its main mission, since the other missions don't really offer any substantial information to the storyline in Phantom Pain.

I believe that there is a code that one can input at Konami's website that provides additional game content to Phantom Pain, but its details have yet to be announced.

After MGR:R came to PC I felt like anything in the world was possible, but I still didn't really expect this. Wow, this is amazing news.

now what to do!
Buy on PS4 and continue the (for the most part) playstation tradition of owning all on PS systems...... or.... Go to PC....

I think i have the solution

so much money will be gone....

Possibly important question relating to the release date on PC: do we know if KojiPro (JP or LA) is handling the PC version themselves?

It being on Steam doesn't mean it has to have DRM. But it will because Konami will likely want it to.

If Steam itself just acts as a store where you download it and installing it is completely separate, then yes. I highly doubt that though.

Put me down for MGS:GZ, TPP, Silent Hills, and Legacy Collection day one on PC.

It needs a 100% brand new texture set and ENB to make up for the weak lighting, filtering wouldn't be enough.

I would just be ecstatic to have access to the game on PC.
Expecting brand new textures for an old release is a bit ridiculous.

Yes! Can't say I'm too surprised since we already have Revengeance but I didn't expect them to go out of their way to officially confirm it.

Thanks for the responses. Guess will need to re-arrange my priority list.
Now, to wait for FF XV and Silent Hill PC announcements
and Bloodborne.. please?
