MGSV for PC officially confirmed

That's a consequence of having x86 based consoles; it makes it easier and thus cost effective to port games from consoles to PCs.

According to Fox Engine documentation, it was designed on and for x86 PCs. I am sure its port coming has less to do with technical things about nextgen consoles (considering the engine was developed for PS3 and Xbox 360 and PC originally) and more about the proven popularity of the series on PC.

Got a little poll for GAF here.

Since I got crucified by you guys, I removed by the link. If you really want it, go look at the dozens of quotes.

Couldn't pirate it even if i wanted to, that MGO.

Exactly. That's what pirating gives up. No online capabilities. If you pirate it you're missing out on the experience as a whole. Can't invade bases, be invaded, have companion apps running, etc.

People have been going all out on shitting on PC gamers today.

You made this yourself? Awful.

Is this necessary?

I don't get what the issue is here, I'm not trying to antagonize anyone or 'shit on' PC gamers (since I AM a PC gamer by the way). I've heard again and again that piracy is a huge issue in getting games on the PC market, and I'm just seeing what people are intending to do when the game comes out. I don't need any reason or explaination, just merely looking at the buyers statistics.

If you find the time play the first three. Avoid MGS 4 at all costs it's just complete garbage.

It's funny how a game can go from winning GAF's game of the year two years in a row, to now being considered by many to be a bad game. Same thing might happen with TLOU

I think you will find (as it preliminarily shows) that many people will of course state that they are buying the game.

Problem is, asking a binary question like that implies something on some level. Or this place is just tense!

The last Metal Gear was limited to one platform that was behind its main competitor for majority of the competition. For the IP to grow and prosper, making it much more relevant in today's climate, a PC version is needed. Just like almost every multiplatform juggernauts. This is good for the series.

Why would you not want the definitive version on day one? PS4 is second in command.

I'm buying it on PS4, PC later. PC game prices drop too quickly, no point buying day 1. It's why I haven't bought a PC at launch, well ever. (I think I got Bioshock Infinite but it had a discount plus some free games)

MGS4 is friggen awesome, don't let the haters detract you. There's always hate for things which are great or widely well liked.

When it's multiplatform, it should definitely go to PC. Good news.

Is there a recap of the MGSV stream anywhere? First person to post one gets a virtual kiss.

Got a little poll for GAF here.

I expect a pre-order price advantage through green man gaming or steam, like most releases as of late.

From people who don't understand that a pirated copy isn't the same thing as a lost sale, sure. I've found that fretting over piracy numbers on any platform is not going to solve anything.

Not to mention that posting a poll like that on GAF, where admitting to piracy means an automatic ban, might not get you the most accurate results. Just saying!

edit: What Tuco posted below goes for me as well!

It's since this announce "leaked" few hours ago that I'm crossing a bunch of patronizing comments about it.
You know, stuff that once you read between lines more or less sounds like "Dear PC gamers, we are generously conceding youu the honor to play our beloved MGS so PLEASE FOR ONCE STOP PIRATING GAMES AND ACTUALLY BUY THIS".

Uh, ok? I'ts not like I'm going to need anyone's admonition to "Actually buy instead of pirating" because that's what i usually do, and quite frankly even if I was planning to pirate something it wouldn't be some condescending guy on the internet to show me the light.

So yeah, maybe it wasn't your case, specifically, but that's why you are seeing people reacting in that way: because it's annoying as hell.

The "all PC gamers are pirates" thing was really big last gen,
with developers shamelessly using it as an excuse for no or a later PC port.
I have a "slight" feeling this is still sensitive stuff. As a PC user myself, it annoyed me to no end.
It didn't help when many console gamers started doing the same, thinking piracy on consoles impossible.

But i'm preaching to the choir here. (or at least i'm supposed to be.)

I wonder if this would run on my GTX 780 3gb?
It runs on the massively less powerful GPUs that are powering the PS4 and Xbox One. Why wouldn't it run on a GTX780?

You're buying the more expensive version because the cheaper version drops in price faster?

At least I can look forward to not having to buy a PS4 since this is the only game I'd only want on it at the moment.
Thanks for crucifying me on the table, GAF. Apparently a question I didn't think through all that much requires a witch burning.

the massively less powerful GPU as you call it ran watch dogs and at the same time it was the worst optimized PC game of all time, the only way to truly know is to wait until the game releases, other than that speculation wont do any good

Tentatively hopeful the game/port turns out well since this is the platform on which I'd prefer to purchase it.

I suppose I have Metal Gear Rising's strong sales to thank for this?

How would PC gamers even play this? A keyboard? How does that even work? If you held it like a controller your thumbs wouldn't reach all the buttons so how would you hold it?

they said it only had mouse support

so i think you would use 2 like 2 joysticks and click for the buttons

I don't even think MGR's sales were particularly strong. Probably just satisfying enough.

So if I have to guess I would say that it was always intended to be, and at most you'd have to thank MGR for not flopping disastrously, convincing them to cancel this port, rather than the other way around with them never considering it before finding themselves in awe in front of MGR's massive success.

I suspect that was just stealth bragging, actually.
