Microsoft “in talks” for Project xCloud exclusive games

I got the same impression, it wouldn’t make sense to make a game exclusive to just their cloud gaming service and not the console, unless of course it’s just shovelware then I really don’t care then.

It would if MS is preparing to move away from their consoles if Sony pulls another "PS4".
There are more and more signs pointing towards that scenario.

(wasn't that what you wanted to argue in that other thread? Thought I'd just respond to it in here.)

Let me give you a hint. Sony doesn't go to their first party to talk to them into making their games exclusive for PS4.

Wouldnt know, pretty sure they would communicate about what exclusive games to make with their first party studios and before you yell “muhreadingcomprehension” I know what you mean and as I said before, the wording and vagueness in that article doesn’t convince me.

But let’s say they go along with it, doubtful it’ll be any major titles, AAA or even AA games. I also don’t see any major third party studios putting their biggest IP’s or creating the next killer IP just for it to be stream and even worse a streaming exclusive.

But thanks for the hint comrade.

If they would, sure but they haven’t really shown that they are doing that. I mean sure Xbox One sales were weak in comparison to the PS4(not so much to the WiiU that died an unfortunate death) but it sold decently overall. PS4 was just a crazy success that shattered the ceiling and deservingly so.

I honestly believe the two consoles won’t be so lopsided, Sony will still sell more unless they somehow fuck it up but I think Scarlett will do better than the Xbox One.

(Aye that’s fine, though mods might yell at us lol)

Phil Spencer and his fans flip flop more than John Kerry. So much for his "not buying exclusives". More like 3rd parties knows its not worth losing sales on PS4 over whatever MS is paying. MS are now back to their roots.

i was hoping they would have learned the lesson from this gen, but it seems not. They are still after that online only DRM that they planned for the xbone, but now they are taking the slow route, by getting people with gamepass, ten making xcloud and gamepass being part of the same service basically, and now making exclusives for xcloud.

I guess it's another gen where i'll skip a MS console, sadly.

It seems they have been taking preparations all gen long.

It's mostly the fact that they removed exclusivity for their first party titles, GamePass, full cross-platform play, shift towards xCloud and now reports of (possible) xCloud exclusive games.

If you really take a second to stop and think about it, it's basically phased preparations.

You need to remember that we came from a neck-on-neck race last-gen, but MS had already dropped the ball during the second half of last-gen.
Add to that the original Xbox One plans, MS reducing half of the EU to Tier 2 countries and the rest of the world Tier 3, Phil Spencer who was supposed to 'save' the XOne but ultimately barely did anything and the world outside of US and UK basically saying FU to MS.

MS will have a really tough battle going into next-gen and xCloud isn't really showing MS' confidence in Scarlett.

Guess we'll find out next-gen, but I wouldn't get my hopes as a xbox fan.

Lol true.
They should just call it quits and become the next EA/Activision after next-gen.

a lot of shit.. and I like xbox.. Fuck
I thought with spencer they would really change stuf for next gen but its more and more looking like shit
gamepas is making them focus on more but smaller titles instead of full on Triple A experiences like sony does.
I dont ever see microsoft making a game like god of war or horizon zero dawn

And now this news, this is stupid
If they don’t show amazing games at E3, then I’ll worry. It seems the studios they picked up were working on multiple projects so they get a pass from me at the moment. E3 2020 is when we should really put our judging pants on.

Oh MS is the good guy, pro-consumer and all the shit, you know.

Don't worry, I'm sure these guys will find a way to twist this into something that fits the narrative. Just like how when they buy studios it's framed as good guy MS saving these poor devs from hardship.

I guess if it is a cheaply made MMORPG that will allow them to milk some whales and they can easily close down in the future, it's OK to be a xcloud exclusive, no big loss there. The rest, temp exclusive is acceptable.

Considering I've played every xbox one game I wanted to this gen on my PC I'm not convinced Microsoft knows how exclusives work.

It is interesting that they have to "have talks" with their first-party studios instead of simply mandating production of an xcloud title. Probably a positive if it can be taken as an indicator of the freedom those studios have.

Just like how streaming is garbage in one breath, but wait for xCloud in another.

All streaming is subpar to me personally.

If it's to make a game you couldn't run on a console or PC, then I'm fine with it.

Like, you know, a 100 player version of the Crackdown 3 demo from 400 BC (Before Crackdowngrade).

It isn't Microsoft's platform, though, it is everybody's. No walled garden, no seal of approval, no verification, no censorship, no multiplayer tax, none of that garbage.

Think the games will still be playable on the console but not other streaming services.

That or they are talking about streaming versions of games.

There is an issue with text being too small on phones and the cloud aware API sounds like a way to have a streaming version of a game with bigger text, etc that automatically turns on when the game is streamed.

Common sense GAF. It won’t hurt nearly as much as you think.

I read that Stevivor article twice and never once saw a single reference to XCloud exclusives not coming to Scarlett. And you literally had people accusing others of poor comprehension because like me they didn't see XCloud only exclusives anywhere in that piece.

It’s an Xbox thread on GAF. Were you expecting critical thinking?

Just a little bit of logic. XCloud is supposed to be able play across numerous devices. Why then would it have exclusives that Microsoft 's game platform couldn't play?

Look I know people are looking for anything that fits the ever changing narrative but this was ridiculous.

Stop acting like we're the ones who wrote it. MS heads aren't talking to one another so they keep contradicting themselves.

Posts that aged like fine milk.

Am I supposed to be embarrassed by that or something? There are others that read it like that. How about you go back and quote everyone else? In fact the person that's laughing at your post is the one that posted it too :messenger_tears_of_joy:.

Lol ... windows has verification you paid for it and registered it... you cant run windows apps without windows, steam and ms stores have censorship and a “seal of approval” ( its just got a lower bar) ... and you need an xbox account to play MS games.

Your platform is called Microsoft Windows.

But hey you keep pretending.... i dont care and Microsoft isnt going to correct you either.

Most of Azure you can run on prem or in the cloud .. same for office online or office apps...
MS is going to pay extra to keep google and Amazon from streaming the same games ... they may also prevent Sony from to but it doesn't really look like they are going to be a big player in this space.

xcloud is about all your games anywhere and its literally xboxs in the cloud ... if they pay for an exclusive youll still be able to play it on your xbox.

Actually it was the journalist's responsibility to make the distinction and not report something he wasn't able to account for. MS had to contact him for clarification. Even if the person he interviewed mispoke, something as simple as a follow up question would have made ALL the difference.

"What do you mean, XCloud exclusive games won't play on Scarlett? "

Choudry covered quite a few things, sdk API improvements for streaming, the upgrade to Scarlett servers, new cloud aware capabilities etc. But THIS is what he chose to run with. THIS was the sexier headline that I'm sure the journalist knew would catch attention.

But after that it's our responsibility to apply a modest bit of comprehension, because none of it made any sense.

So XCloud will have it's own exclusives, but if XCloud is running on Scarlett................🤔

I hate repeating history but I know how bad Microsoft fucked up the launch of Xbox One and it honestly haunted them this entire gen. Say what you will but they did turn it around with smart hardware revisions and acquiring more first party studios as well as being more open and public about their plans. I think they have momentum going into next gen and no, I’m not saying they are going to sell a gazillion consoles or put out 99 metacritic games like it’s nothing but I see them improving from last year quite a bit. Now if only they allowed F2P games to be ex snot from gold, that’ll be great.

Don't worry, I'm sure these guys will find a way to twist this into something that fits the narrative. Just like how when they buy studios it's framed as good guy MS saving these poor devs from hardship.

Are you saying that isn’t the case? Could you elaborate on that because afaik they were interested in struggling but decent studios That had financial issues(aside from PGG)

Well, they'd better not.

Besides, imagine this being damage control.
Although, things are never as easy as flipping a switch, ofcourse. Lol

What else would you expect?

Lots of people jumping in with their opinion and no information trashing shit, when it gets clarified they all disappear.
