Meant to answer you Topher, Sony wanted all the profits margarine they didn't want to partner with anyone. Back then they had Sony films (still do), Sony Tv's (still do), Sony music (not a big factor anymore) and Sony Phones. Sony didn't want to Partner with say Samsung to get PS now on the then emerging Smart TV's. They didn't want to work with Google or Amazon. They didn't try to increase their phone market share by using PS Now. Sony stayed where it was safe (the console market.) Now was this a bad thing no, could they have done better yea! Its not that big. Because the biggest obstacle right now is the cloud market.
MS has to show a reason why CMA decision is wrong. And that is hard for them, due to having Azure and Xcloud having gamepass as its backing.

Ok why was it that MS was able to partner with companies that don't like Microsoft to make Cloud gaming work? Obvious answer is money and power. Why couldn't Sony use its dominance in the console market to do the same? This merger wouldn't be a discussion if Sony had done this, instead we're discussing fairness in a market they should have already entered say about 3 years ago.
