lol I don't know.
Maybe. I feel the moves they made this paste gen have not been their best. I agree with Fallout 4's reveal and launch as I like the idea of a game having a short marketing window that is an existing IP, I don't agree with pretty much the rest of how that gen turned out for them. Fallout 76, no Elder Scrolls which brings me to my next point, the already knew Elder Scrolls was going to take a while? Why remaster Skyrim and not Oblivion and Morrowind KNOWING it will be a while until the next Elder Scrolls? Remaster, add mods and port them all. Its fucking free real estate at this point and would be welcome remasters of some classics. I feel in many areas, they failed to leverage their IPs knowing they would not be putting out much this generation.
Those issues are why I'm ok with a MS purchase, someone needs to guide that team and a MS purchase at this point can't really hurt compared to just leaving them to their own choices.
Think about it. With this deal, if several Fallout or Elder Scrolls fail, MS will have Obsidian likely take over one of those IP, or Playground games if that Fable game turns out epic and they just turn into a RPG powerhouse. That make more sense for all of us, then for them to continue what they are doing. MS this gen is much different then years prior and I believe the beat down given to them by Sony will force them to allow teams to make new IP and to TRUST their teams to move on from series to newer concepts. Maybe they needed to see the records broken by PS4 to understand you can't just keep doing the same AAA IP for live and expect different results, new AAA IP are great too and bring in new consumers. That kind of thinking makes me more trusting of MS to do the right thing with Zenimax. For all we know this will probably turn them around for the better having all that support.
