The preorder page is up. Release date is listed as January 31st, 2018. Can this be added to the OP?

Also jog on MS, I'd rather get a cheap BT dongle than wait or cave and buy one of the existing fat ones.

why would people pay 25 dollars for this when you can just plug the controller via a usb cable? o.O

or does this thing do something else?

Is this just a Bluetooth dongle? I use the one I bought for like $2 with my Xbox One controller with zero issues.

I could see plugging it in the back of your PC and just using an elite without worrying about the usb cable.

This product isnt for me though. If it was like $15 or so id think about it just to have wireless

Honestly I'd just recommend get a cheap Bluetooth dongle and use your Dualshock 4 as a controller for your Pc, instead of buying this overpriced accessory.

With ds4windows and the touchpad, the Dualshock 4 on Pc is a godsend.

I've got the OG dongle and it's by far one of the best "gadgets" I have ever bought. 100% satisfied. MS at its best.

Because they want to use it wirelessly?

You can also connect newer ones via Bluetooth, by the way. Thing is, latency and bandwidth are supposed to be much better with Microsoft's proprietary protocol.

Shit this looks like an actual USB. I actually need this.

Not this is using the same protocol that the Xbox one uses for it's Controllers. I believe it's WiFi Direct?

Exactly. I have mine plugged into the back of my PC. Simple as holding down the Xbox button to connect.

For those asking why:

- its smaller in width so it wouldn't conflict with nearby ports if the ports are to the side
- also the smaller size probably makes it cheaper to produce
- sometimes you just don't want to use a cable, or you want to use multiple controllers, or you have a computer far away, or all three

no,this is the wireless one,you can connect the official Xbox headset and controller to it,the Bluetooth you can only connect 1 device peer Bluetooth adapter (or two if you did some work around)

No, this is their own propriety wireless protocol. I think audio doesn't work over bluetooth and you can only pair one controller at a time or something like that.

Was using DS4windows and my PC stopped detecting the DS4 after a few days for some reason :/

I'd rather use my superior Elite controller over my DS4.

Anyway, I have the old dongle and never had an issue with it.

The Xbone controller is so much better than the DS4 tho.

Wireless of multiple controllers

I want this because the original one is soooo big

So you can sit further away/not have a wire in the way?

Some of us like the idea of using our controllers wirelessly

Imagine your PC is in a different room than your screen.

Up to 8 controllers can connect to it at a time so it at least makes wireless couch coop on a PC viable.

oh cool.

i think my mistake was looking at pc gaming more like being sitting in front of your monitor alone.. lol

also i know even if it were just so you dont use a cable, 25 dollars seems a lot to me

What? I bought this because I want my controller wireless. Hate wires. Makes my PC setup look more clean. Who would not want a controller wireless?

But I despise the DualShock 4.

Didn't realize there were issues with the original dongle actually

Also, what PC games support 8 player local co op? That's news to me lol
