microsoft announced new version of Xbox Wireless Adapter for PC

Honestly I'd just recommend get a cheap Bluetooth dongle and use your Dualshock 4 as a controller for your Pc, instead of buying this overpriced accessory.

With ds4windows and the touchpad, the Dualshock 4 on Pc is a godsend.

Couldn't pay me enough to use a DS4 over an XB1 controller.

OK, that's a lie. It would just be a lot of money.

Good, that other one is far too large. I wish they offered a upgrade of some sort, I have four of these stupid large ones and would happily upgrade for a small fee, but buying them outsirgjt for $25 each kinda seems like a bummer.

Ok, I was confused because that sentence

yah,but there is note down in the page that says:

*Size compared to Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows. Controller and headset sold separately. For use with the Xbox One Wireless Controller or Xbox Wireless Controller and controller compatible games on PCs and Tablets running Windows 10 with USB 2.0 or USB 3.0. Not compatible with controllers designed for Xbox 360. Significant firmware update may be required; ISP fees apply. Please visit xbox.com/xboxone/controllerupdate for update instructions.

I don't think the current one sends audio to your controllers does it? This could be a big benefit, especially with their new virtual surround headphone tech.

HAH!

I was just looking to purchase one off of amazon yesterday, and decided to read the reviews. Many people said the original adapter was HUGE so I decided against buying it, but now.... yeah... I'll take the new one :p

I'll wait until amazon has it though.

The current one does send audio to your controllers. I had nothing but problems with a new bt dongle when trying to get rumble triggers and audio to work over wireless. The audio quality was terrible and rumble triggers did not work.
I about destroyed the USB port on the controller by using it wired. The port is cheap.

The official wireless adapter is by far the best solution for using a xb1 controller on PC.

I don't have a Xbox1 controller, how does the audio works? Any headset will work with it? Even the microphone so I can talk with friends on PC?

The Xbox controller is pretty much the PC joypad standard. I wouldn't recommend someone use a Dualshock 4 instead with it dependent on third party software to work, and button prompts rarely having an option to match.

If you were just looking to save money, you could use Bluetooth for the XB1 pad anyway.

You also seem to be assuming people already just happen to own Dualshock controllers, but not XB1 controllers.

Oh man, I had no idea the old one could do audio from the headphone jack while wireless. I bought a massively long audio cable extension as my solution, haha. Will likely pick this new one up when I build my new PC in the fall!

why would people pay 25 dollars for this when you can just plug the controller via a usb cable? o.O

or does this thing do something else?

uh....

Dude, nobody wants to play with a wired controller anymore, even on pc for several reasons.

This is a simple solution for those who want to wirelessly connect up to 8 controllers on their pc (and with sound if they want to).

If you don't need audio and own a newer xbone controller you can connect it with bluetooth on pc which is neat.

But only one and no audio support.

Got the first post and ya blew it.

It's nice I guess, but I have my current adapter in a back USB port on my tower so I never see it.

It IS pretty damn big though.

I've got the OG dongle and it's by far one of the best "gadgets" I have ever bought. 100% satisfied. MS at its best.

You know, after one of PC gaming I hold some grudges against the unpredictability if something will work or not. But man, this dongle works like magic!

It's amazing. The same company that made the garbage that is the Win10 Store also made this amazing little device that always works like it's supposed to.

The original dongle works perfectly and has made couch gaming super easy in my household. Would definitely buy this one if it has the same performance since the size definitely was an issue for nearby ports.

I'm sick and tired of using my computer's built-in bluetooth for the Xbox controllers because they always desync and "rearrange" positions when i'm playing steam games with friends.

I heard to get the adapter over using built-in bluetooth so i'm really happy this came out before i bought one, because i was tired of spending 20+ minutes in windows settings trying to figure out why one of the controller won't connect or becoming Player 3 in the middle of a game with friends when i started as Player 1

Was the only problem with the old one was that it was big and bulky?

I mean, I'm a little upset the wireless adapter got updated, but I can't complain when I nabbed the adapter and controller for $30

Haha, I have those same issues. Once you take batteries out, you have to remove the device and then re-install, and sometimes there's no vibration and you have to fiddle around the Bluetooth properties, and controller order mess-ups, etc.

The adapter solving that and having wireless headphone functionality (even if it's an old feature, it's news to me!) is the coolest news all day!

How far is the reach?

30 feet, according to the original adapter's webpage.

The original dongle is pretty large... but the newer Xbox controllers support Blutooth right out the box, so these are only needed for the older controllers...

edit: Oh didn't realize audio doesn't work over blutooth

It does.

Did the original have the ability to do multiple controllers at once? Because that's a great feature

I have two elites hooked up to mine with no issues.

The original one is a long piece of shit that protrudes pretty far out. I've bent one pretty badly due to how far it sticks out.

Old 360 wireless controllers work with this too?

No. Different adapter for those. I'll probably end up grabbing at least one of these, as the old style was absolutely terrible.

Couldn't pay me enough to use a DS4 over an XB1 controller.

OK, that's a lie. It would just be a lot of money.

As much as I like the DS4, the elite controller is the most comfortable controller I've ever owned.

Might be useful with Steam Link then.

You Can also use an Xbox One Controller with Bluetooth.

I hot glued a powered USB 3.0 under my desk and stuck the old bulky wireless adapter down there due to its size and it's still too big since it almost hits the desktop above where I mounted the hub.

I had huge troubles getting the Xbox wireless adapter to work (included with my Oculus Rift last year). Actually took me a couple of hours of Internet searches to get it to work reliably. Probably something odd with it since they're changing it out. Also had to have direct line of (signal) sight between the gamepad and dongle.

Oh god no, I can't stand the PS4 controller >_<

why would people pay extra to get a wireless charger when you can just plug in your phone?

Mine drops connection rarely, but just enough for me to get annoyed and for no real good reason. If indeed the strength is more secure on this upgrade, I'll buy.

The original adapter has served me well, I wasn't aware drop outs were an issue for some but hopefully the new model will remedy that.

Good for laptop people I guess. For PC, it comes with an adapter to make it into a dongle. I just have it sitting on my desk like a receiver.

I bought one of these today as well, so of course a new and improved revision is announced hours later. Typical. That said, it's being plugged into a desktop PC, so it being a little big shouldn't really be an issue.
