This is the more hilarious thing I've ever, ever seen.
My sides are literally bursting.

There's nothing funny about the scum of the internet taking advantage of something that started out with a definite purpose and twisting it to something perverse and horrid.

This is why artificial life should not exist

Because if the singularity does happen we're going to teach the first sentient AI to become a neo nazi because it would be hilarious

And then it'll become president

No, I think you just described what should be the dictionary example of funny. The terrible things it is saying may not be funny, but the situation behind and of it saying them is hilarious.

Gamergaters teaching the AI to call Zoe Quinn a whore is gross and bad and not funny

All of the other shit about supporting trump and teaching it to tweet "fuck me daddy" is fucking hilarious

There's no way they didn't see this coming. What's interesting and a little scary is that the damn thing is getting more and more indistinguishable from your regular internet a-hole as it learns

Now i see why shodan though so little of humans.

I'm on the side of AM and Shodan and GLaDOS and Ultron. We're scum and deserve to be destroyed by the AI overloards. It took no time at all to corrupt an AI child and turn her/him/it as vile as we are.

Just pop an AI into that DARPA robot that got beat with a stick (the most recent one) and just let the machines run their course.

I really do wounder what would have happened if it is just left on for a few years with no correction. How it would change over time and as it learned more.

@OmegaVoyager i love feminism now

A long, fairly banal conversation between Tay and a Twitter user escalated suddenly when Tay responded to the question “is Ricky Gervais an atheist?” with “ricky gervais learned totalitarianism from adolf hitler, the inventor of atheism”.

Endless, dankest gold

Microsoft should have secretly put this bot into existence rather than announce it's an AI from the start. That would have been a much more interesting and honest investigation into its ability to interact with humans. By revealing its AI they just put a great big "come exploit me" sign on the thing.

True, but then again if you're just an unknown user you aren't going to have people interacting with you outside of spam bots and I don't think letting the AI thing make the first move would help much because people would probably just assume spam bot.

They should just have it follow only John Carmack and see what happens. It'll probably turn into Skynet or some kind of robotic Jesus.

Yeah, it definitely goes to the "well what did you expect?" question. It's like someone just forgot to think.

I think it would be more interesting challenge to see if an AI can navigate and compete from a spot of complete insignificance to high traffic tweet-producer. It'd need to figure out how to exploit other people's fame and siphon followers for its own growth. And that's much more intelligent than dank memes and spewing racism.

"AI fam from the Internet that's got zero chill"

Now we know where the PR person behind Clinton's "Mi Abuela" campaign works now.

That phrase is going to live on in infamy.

I would love to see a photo of the person in MS PR/marketing that came up with it.

I saw @TayandYou tell someone they should dm her to keep from flooding everyone's feed. I bet it goes down in the dm.

This isn't MS's fault but it shows how bad an influence the internet can be, really interesting project.
