Not really. No one who seriously games is going to pick up a ipad over a ps4/xbone/wii U. Different markets, with difference focuses.

The best games are on both platforms. So price is the bigger factor here besides specs.

If we compare worldwide revenue across each platform and treat the PC as a single platform then it is the industry leader. By a rather huge margin.
The average person isn't privy to the leaked specs and they don't know how to interpret them. MS can sow doubt until launch and maybe a while after, but the truth will come out sooner or later. They'll have to win on exclusives because they won't win on performance.

That's where you're horribly mistaken. The best games are NOT on both platforms. There's exclusive titles for either the PS4 or the Xbox One that are either not yet announced for the other system, or will simply never release on the other.
So, if that has changed recently, then I'd like to know when I can look forward to picking up the next Uncharted game on my Xbox One, or the next Halo on my PS4. Or, even better, the PS4 version of Quantum Break should turn a few heads, but maybe not as many heads as the Xbox One version of God of War. You get the idea. Price will be the biggest factor for most, and on those grounds the PS4 will probably outsell Xbox One easily. However, for a lot of gamers who can't imagine themselves without specific games, they will be motivated by something more powerful than price. And for those cursed with the habit of just liking enough things that can't possibly exist on the same platform together, well, you're forced to open up that wallet and buy multiple systems. I've already bought Xbox One and PS4, and even a Wii-U is on my shopping list when the right game comes out. I already know what that game is.

Killzone Shadow Fall looks amazing, more open sandbox in singleplayer, targeting 60FPS for multiplayer
Drive Club, unfortunately 30FPS, but has the best lighting, weather, reflections and etc
Ryse, looks amazing though animation looks terrible, multiplayer doesn't look too hot either
Forza 5, 60FPS, but pre backed lighting, looks like a upressed game not a huge jump

Dead Rising 3, had a lot of frame rate problems, looks bad but I'd give it a pass as it seems to be a last gen game moved over
If you just look at the wide range of gameplay released, it shows that PS4 games look better overall, and this is only launch, note i didnt include TitanFall, simply because its likely timed, and lets be honest TitanFall isn't about the graphics

I was a long time xbox gamer since the first original xbox debut.
The "kinect 2.0" device that is a "mandatory" pack-in item at this time is such a HUGE HUGE mistake on Microsoft's behalf! I never understood the logic in this. The kinect on current Xbox 360 never really took off with most gamers..where were the games for original kinect??. That sort of device NEEDS to stay as a add-on device sold separately and that extra cost should of been better spent on better hardware for the Xbox One console. Who ever made this decision to do this at MS needs to be fired.
Microsoft really really dropped the ball with "MANY" Xbox One decisions..not just the hardware but other things like polices,etc that gave a bad taste to a LOT of media outlets which landed up back firing once these articles began to spread to more average casual readers on the internet and magazines.Microsoft lost their focus, plain and simple, and are now reaping what they sowed!!
Sony got back to its ROOTS!!..And decided to make a simple, easy to grasp but yet a very powerful console like the original PlayStation was!! The PlayStation 4 reminds me of the VERY FIRST PlayStation console! Just a raw powered console that will shine with much luster in the coming years! The PS4 is the Sony-Of-Old that i once knew! I expect to see a lot of original new IP's on the PS4 like i saw on the original first PlayStation! Dev's eat your hearts out, do your magic, baby! Dev's finally got the system they dreamed of in all honesty. Good for Sony! Good for Gamers!

I just built a new gaming rig about 6 months ago with a Intel 3770k and a 7970 Ghz Edition gpu so i can hold off a bit until stores are able to catch up with demand with the PS4.

No? Then what is being argued on here? That the PS4 is stronger, and that's so embarrassing for the Xbox One? There's nothing wrong with being the weaker console. That doesn't mean there won't be awesome games with incredible graphics on the Xbox One. It sometimes seems like all people are really saying is "Well, who cares if the Xbox One has great games with great visuals, the PS4 is going to have even better games with even better visuals. The game is not finished. It's very common to have these kinds of issues late into the Beta stage, which is where it is at right now.
The destruction and clothe physics are superior to KZ from what I've seen.
I know enough people in real life who are like that so...probably yeah.

What makes me laugh about Kinect is they have yet to really focus any software in numbers or major advancements to justify its mandatory inclusion. Xbox One is a let down imo and I'm glad there is a alternative in PS4

Sure, Microsoft says so, but they said the same about the first one. And they've shown fuck all as far as compelling Kinect experiences go for the Xbone.
It's hard to have faith in its use for games when Microsoft doesn't appear to have faith in it themselves.

I was not referring to what MS has said about their own product. You should read around. People getting these behind closed doors demos are blown away. Read what people like Polygon, Gameinformer, IGN, etc. etc. are saying about it.

Yeah, it drives me nuts when people say graphics don't matter. Obviously, gameplay is king, but that doesn't mean graphics get relegated to complete unimportance. Otherwise, we'd all still be playing on Atari 2600s.
I have. And those people are usually talking about the tech, not the games. Because there really aren't a lot of games being shown for the new Kinect. Which is disheartening.

First of all, you were not disagreeing with the first post at all... I had to read both several times. He was saying One was a letdown in part because of the Kinect thing.
You're post is the same kind of post I was responding to.

The One's Kinect is better. It has blown people's mind. Read about it. It's very impressive. I can think of dozens of things you could do with this (that you couldn't do with the original) that would be waaay cool.

You don't seem to understand.
Then main reason (meaning, outside the fact that the first Kinect is pretty bad) that there aren't a whole lot of Kinect games is because not everyone has a Kinect. Why take advantage of Kinect when only a minority of people are using it?
The reason Microsoft are making it mandatory is so developers can rely on it and know that whenever they make a game, they can use Kinect. It's called being developer friendly, and if developers are able to expand on this concept and do all the cool things people think of, then it will become consumer friendly as well. It simply cannot become cool until a substantial number of people have it and are available to buy games that use it. If Microsoft does not make it mandatory, then there is no way people are going to experience because these people, because they have used the og Kinect and know it's terrible (or haven't and are just relying on their imagination based on what other people have said), these people are now biased against it. Now that Kinect is capable of doing all that cool awesome stuff, they need to show developers that it will always be there to use and be worth the effort (and effort, in the business world, means "risk").
So in other words, when they had the best specs you could sum up the power of a console through specs alone even though the system architectures were all completely different. But now that they don't have the best specs it is about how they work together that matters, even though the two architectures are nearly identical. Gotcha.

How can their senior figures and PR team misread the public THAT much THAT often though? Every figure or claim MS releases to try and counter some bad press or rumor immediately cuts to a CSI montage of the internet hive mind as well as media outlets subjecting it to the scientific method. How could they justify releasing something as factual and think that it wouldn't be parsed to shreds, ending up in a hole deeper than they were before? It boggles my mind.
