Even if it was one person, it wouldn't be acceptable. Hell even if every single household had internet, it's still an unneeded detriment. I'm sure as shit not justifying what is obviously greed on the part of the publishers.
I mean major like WSJ and CNN; non-tech/gaming sites. The Ellen Show, etc.

you know what, I wont support such an arrogant design choice. I love my 360, it had my favorite games this generation, but if they think they can be this arrogant, this condescending and rude to there audience, I will NOT support that. And luckily it looks like Sony will be giving us a good offering so there is no real reason to feel like we are losing anything.
It feels like MS has forgot they are in a market that isnt monopolized. I honestly dont care about always on, my internet is up 99% of the time and likely I'd never notice it. But I do care about how a company chooses to treat there customers. If they treat me like a soon to be criminal, or act like I am not valuable to them, they will not get my business, as there are several other companies out there that will treat me better.

When you think about it, people already pay to be online with a 360. Telling them at it is required isn't exactly a stretch. If anything they will feel better about spending the money.
Wow, he not only confirmed the Durango being online-only but he did so in the most inflammatory way possible. Now it's unreasonable to be able to play your games regardless of your online connection status? I'm baffled with these companies keep treating their consumers like potential criminals by introducing more policies like this.
It's a hubris curse. It just takes around three consoles to reach critical mass.

(My opinion but..) We are never going to see another console that dominates the market as much as the PS2. The market has changed too much over the past 10 years or so for a landslide in hardware sales to happen like that ever again.
Just realized this could the be way to soften the blow. So when they do say it doesn't have it everyone one (well the core) will already have raged months earlier about it.

This is me, my Xbox has had Xbox live since day one and my Internet is amazing. Doesn't make any bit of difference to me. Requiring me to have Internet for my console to function at all is a 100% deal breaker for me.

PS2 dominated its gen and still had consistent AAA games coming out all the time for it (and most of them exclusive).

If this thing ends up being always online I will do everything in my power to spread bad word of mouth via social networking and in real life. I expect others to do the same in the hardcore community.
My guess is that this always online thing is something MS is trialling and we hear about it like its finalized feature set in stone.
I'd rather wait for the announcement. All these rumours get crazier by the day. We got similar things for Sony which were dismissed swiftly after their reveal.

Still, he probably knows about the response to the next gen xbox always on rumors, and shouldn't have commented on a similar topic, let alone that specific topic.
It seems like he either has some financial reasons for rationalizing always on, or it's because of the corporate culture currently at Microsoft because they are working on such a console, or because he knows that it would be bad for the industry, and he "outs" the console in a semi non-specific way in an attempt to get people upset, and dissuade Microsoft from going through with the always on plan, while keeping his job.
